Penn Central Car Movements #111 Part 2 / Freight Movements & Interchanges

 Greetings All,

Welcome Back to Penn Central Car Movements #111

Our three layout virtual op with the NYCTL interchanging freight traffic with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad continues today with train movements and interchanges.

The action starts at Bedford, NY with LIRR Train MA-3 from Fresh Pond Yard heading to North Side Yard with PCCM interchange traffic.
LIRR MA-3 rolls thru Bedford and arrives at North Side Yard.
After uncoupling from the MA-3 consist LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco has coupled onto the freight cars going to Fresh Pond Yard. Below we catch Jimmy Alco shooting the breeze with the EBRR trainmen.
LIRR Train MA-4 departs North Side Yard.
The MA-4 rolls thru Bedford.
With another heavy tonnage train going to Terminal Yard PC Ralph  couples GP30 2160 to the GP18s for additional tractive effort.
The EBRR engines couple up to a PC gondola that will be on the headend of EBRR Train EB-2.
Empty MCRR gondola 350623 is coupled onto the Cargill covered hopper that will be the last block of the EB-2.
Train EB-2 departs North Side Yard.
The EB-2 meets an intercity train rolling thru Bedford.
Train EB-2 arrives in Terminal Yard.
With no freight traffic for the Empire Belt at this time PC Ralph and conductor Rocky will head back to North Side Yard caboose lite.
With the EBRR guys having left Terminal Yard Kar Knocker and Big Mike start to work the EB-2 consist.
Terminal Yard is filling up with plenty of PCCM and non PCCM traffic!!
Over in the engine terminal Alco Joe has been called for the combined Mine Run and Bedford Turn and is greeted by hostler Wet Willie who has just finished servicing PC RS11s 7604 and 7600 that are making their PCCM debut.
The RS11s are coupled up to the MR-1 / BT-27 freight consist. Note the KP&W and PC PS2 covered hoppers have just made the cut off time for the combined MR-1/BT-27.
Train MR-1 / BT-27 departs Terminal Yard.
First stop for the MR-1 / BT-27 is T&R Gravel where Alco Joe pulls out EL boxcar 73510 loaded with bagged iron ore for Port Owen Brick and AP hopper 9416 loaded with ballast for the Kings Port & Western Railroad along with a non PCCM LIRR hopper.
Now getting shoved into T&R Gravel for their next PCCM loads are the KP&W and PC PS2 covered hoppers.
After finishing up at T&R Gravel the MR-1 / BT-27 grabs the EL, LIRR and AP cars from Hudson Coal where they were temporarily placed. Hello conductor Murray!!
A short time later the MR-1 / BT-27 starts working the Bedford Industries. APRR boxcars 4035 and 4182 are pulled from the Schaefer brewery loaded with beer for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge, NJ.
Next stop is the long Bedford industrial siding. Empty B&M RBLs 105, 109 and 110 are pulled from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse for movement back to the B&M at Merrimack, NH via Mechanicville, NY.
Alco Joe has the MR-2 / BT-28 back together and awaits clearance to head back to Terminal Yard.
The MR-2 / BT-28 head back to Terminal Yard.
The MR-2 / BT-28 arrives back in Terminal Yard.
We'll cut it here for today with Big Mike and Kar Knocker ready to inspect and break down the MR-2 /BT-28 consist as conductor Murray gives Big Mike a wave.
This concludes part 2 on the NYCTL. Be sure to catch all the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard out!

A lot of freight was moved today! Those new RS11’s are a nice addition to the fleet. I did see a very nice LIRR hopper in one of the freight consists. Also nice to see Conductor Murray back at the yard. Looks like the crew at North Side Yard has their hand full with 36 freight cars coming! I do like the 2 box cars full of Schaefer Beer. I know some of the Rock Ridge Yard crew would go for some of those cold brews when they arrive.

Looking forward to the next installment!

    West Mill out.

The LIRR/ EBRR interchange is another fine example of the increased use of interchange that expands our virtual ops "beyond the layout"! Always a pleasure to see those LIRR units roll in! The EB-2 was a long train! That was a cool looking Cargill hopper included in the manifest. I had to admire the beautiful line up of automobiles parked at North Side Yard! The new RS11s made a stunning debut handling the MR-1/ BT-27 Turn! I always appreciate the train meets on the N.Y.C.T.L. The MR-2/BT-28's encounter with the GP7/F7B/F7A powered freight was classic Penn Central!
