Penn Central Car Movements #111 Part 1 / The Gathering Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #111
Sometimes it is hard to believe that PC Ralph, Sir Neal and I have been running these three layout virtual ops that we call the PCCMs for over a decade now and have reached PCCM #111. Truth be told putting the ops together is a lot of work for all concerned however it is an enjoyable endeavor that allows us to bring our layouts alive and share them with each other and those that like to follow along.

PCCM #111 will a traditional three layout virtual op with the NYCTL interchanging freight traffic with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad.

My outbound car movements start at Bruce Electric Equipment in East Bedford, NY with B&O Alco S2 #524 pulling two NYC boxcars loaded with wire and cable harnesses for IBM in Binghamton, NY.
The B&O 524 sets the NYC cars and some non PCCM traffic from the Empire Power Authority on Track 8E for later pick up by the B&O 16th Street Yard crew.
Speaking of the 16th Street Yard crew here they are leaving the yard with H16-44s 927 and 926 powering their transfer train.
The 16th Street Yard Transfer heads out to Terminal Yard.
The B&O crew works the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage Complex pulling four TP&W boxcars from Consolidated Grocery Distributors loaded with restaurant supplies for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge, NJ.
The B&O collects NYC boxcar 78746 making its PCCM debut from The Lightning Press loaded with circulars for PC Richard in Rock Ridge, NJ. The 78746 was built by Despatch Shops in 1966 as part of a 50 car order (78700-78749) under Lot #967B.
The B&O works the TW&CS Complex.
After clearing the TW&CS siding the B&O crew shoves in a string of reefers including the empty UPFE and two WFE 57' reefers being moved to Birdseye for their next PCCM loads.
The B&O crew prepares to head back to their 16th Street Yard.
The B&O Transfer heads back to 16th Street Yard.
Meanwhile over in Empire City the EBRR trainmen have come on duty and prepare for their days work. 1:87 Senior Engineer Sir Neal will be in command of this three unit lash up of Empire Belt GP18s.
The Belt Job is on the move.
The Belt Job pulls APRR and TP&W RBLs from Empire Produce loaded with produce for ShopRite in Rock Ridge, NJ.
The Belt Job heads to the Hohman Ave Industrial Park.
EBRR boxcar 360279 gets pulled from Reliable Machine Company loaded with a cutting machine for International Paper in Rochester, NY.
NYC Early Bird boxcar 173441 sporting a Penn Central green door gets pulled from Walsh Steel Wool Products loaded with steel wool  for Boom's Ready Mix in West Mill, NY.
Empty Empire Belt boxcars 416035 and 416079 get shoved into the Walsh siding for their next PCCM loads.
The Belt Job is back together and prepares to head back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job heads back to North Side Yard.
After uncoupling from the Belt Job train 1:87 Sir Neal sets up the yard for Train HH-2 to easily pick up the freight traffic going to Haydon Heights
PC Ralph and conductor Rocky have drawn todays HH-1 assignment and head towards their power tied down on the Haydon Heights lead. The H16-44s are nearing the end of their service lives but have found a new assignment that will hopefully keep them from the scrapper's torch.
Now busy at work the HH-1 pulls four APRR gondolas from Gervais Pipe & Fitting loaded with pipe for Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge, NJ.
Train HH-1 heads to North Side Yard.
PC Ralph talks things over with Sir Neal as the air pressure gets built up on the freight cars heading to Haydon Heights as Train HH-2.
Train HH-2 departs North Side Yard for Haydon Heights.
We'll cut it here for today with PC Ralph and conductor Rocky having tied down their power on the lead and heading to the office to drop off their waybills.
We'll pick it up tomorrow in Bedford, NY with LIRR Train MA-3  making its way towards North Side Yard with PCCM interchange traffic for the EBRR and PC.
This concludes part 1 on the NYCTL. Be sure to catch all the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

I am enjoying the increased role the B&O plays on the N.Y.C.T.L.! Those blue H16-44s look mighty fine at the grade crossing between 16th St. and Terminal Yard. Cool NYC boxcar #78746! That's a nice looking car that fits right in on your layout. The EBRR Belt Job continues to be a sizeable train lately indicating the healthy business around North Side. I liked the large truck load on the depressed well flatcar!

    Rock Ridge Yard out!

The B&O Railroad is the star of PCCM 111 part 1 with the S2 and HH16-44 engines! More HH16-44 motive power as well on the Haydon Heights turn. Working those engines past their prime shows how both railroads take care of their motive power. Nice to see the new NYC box car making its debut on the railroad. More box cars means more revenue for the railroads! Also nice to see the TP&W box cars on the move. The APRR will be ready for the inbound freight!

    Great start Sir John!
