Penn Central Car Movements #85 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / Trains BT-27, VN-4 and TE-16

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #85!!!

The inbound portions of this virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight trains with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR continues today.

We open up today at the Penn Central Terminal Yard with Alco Joe getting called for the Bedford Turn, Train BT-27. Engine hostler Wet Willie has given the BT-27 three Alco Centuries which will definitely be needed.

Watch the BT-27 work T&R Gravel and putting the three Alcos to good use.

EL boxcar #73510 is spotted for it's next PCCM load of bagged iron ore that will go to Port Owen Brick in a future PCCM.

Four Penn Central PS2 hoppers are spotted for PCCM loads of locomotive sand for the Richmond Hill Engine Terminal that services the APRR motive power fleet.

Alco Joe brings the BT-27 towards the industrial siding switch.

After making a long pull out of the siding Lehigh Valley / NIRX boxcar #41000 and PC boxcar #229036 are spotted at Berk Enterprises. The LV car is loaded with adhesive backed paper from International Paper and the PC car is spotted for its next PCCM load.

AP Boxcar #58279 is spotted back at Hostess for continued PCCM loading.

Alco Joe waits on the Bedford Secondary to make his runaround move.

The reason for the hold is Train VN-4 heading to Terminal Yard.

Alco Joe has the Bedford Turn back together on the secondary track.

However the Bedford Turn is held again for Train TE-16 bringing PCCM freight cars from Selkirk to Terminal Yard.

Train TE-16 and BT-27 arrive in Terminal Yard.

The cabooses from the inbound trains are gathered.

Big Mike shoves into the Caboose track to pull a ready caboose. Note 1 of 2 PC gons have received their next PCCM scrap loads.

PC caboose #18417 is tacked onto what will become Train EC-1, a daily transfer to the Empire Belt's North Side Yard in Empire City.

PCCM cars from Terminal Yard going to Empire City industries get coupled onto the freight cars from TE-16 to make Train EC-1.

Engine hostler Wet Willie with a bunch of Alcos now in his stable gets a visit from Alco Joe imploring him to keep the units on hand until his next run.

The EC-1 power is coupled on. The red P GP30s are local favorites so Wet Willie is still in good standing with the area railfans.

Train EC-1 heads to Empire City

EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard

The caboose is retrieved and the EC-1 power departs.

We'll cut it here today with the GP30s running caboose lite to Terminal Yard.

We'll turn it over to the Empire Belt RR crew tomorrow to get these freight cars delivered to their respective consignees..

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Big Mike once again working the yard job pulls the caboose from the SP-10 as Kar Knocker stands by to blue flag and inspect the train.

The caboose is shoved into the caboose track.

The blue flag has been removed and Big Mike gets to work on the inbound freight cars. These auto parts cars will be going to the Bedford Park Ford Plant.

Penn Central Car Movements #85 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 3 / Bedford Turn & Dispatch of Outbound Trains

  Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #85!!!

We'll conclude our outbound portions of this virtual op today with my N.Y.C.T.L. dispatching freight trains to PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR

A newly established Train APR-25 (Terminal Yard to Rock Ridge Yard) is making it's first run today with empty auto parts cars from the Bedford Park Ford Plant going to IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ. The  APR-25 (Auto Parts Return-25) is the westbound counterpart to the FAST-50 (Ford Auto Service Train-50).

We pick up the action at Terminal Yard with a pair of EMD GP40s coupled up to the APR-25 and ready to go. Management would prefer GE units on trains dealing with the Ford Plant but with none available today as engine hostler Wet Willie explains the GP40s get the call. The 3180 and 3175 are two of sixteen (3170-3185) G40s  with the orange "C" lettering delivered to the PC in October 1968.

The APR-25 is on the move!

The APR-25 enters the mainline at Bedford Station as it makes it's way to Selkirk and beyond.

Back at Terminal Yard Wet Willie redeems himself by putting a pair of Alco C-425s on Train BT-27, the Bedford Turn, which will be run by none other than Alco Joe. The 6718 coupled to the 6710, both GE U23Cs, weren't considered for the APR-25 as Sup't Shore didn't want to lose his yard power to Power Pool A.

The BT-27 arrives on the Bedford Secondary track to begin its work.

Alco Joe couples up to the lead car at Hostess and will make a long pull from several industries on this siding. The three yellow Hi Cubes are making their first virtual ops revenue run today loaded with baked goods for Shop Rite in Rock Ridge NJ. The empty Hostess covered hopper is going to the large Cargill Plant also in Rock Ridge NJ

PC boxcar #142270 is picked up from Berk Enterprises loaded with printed packaging for Morton Salt also located in Rock Ridge NJ.

Empty APRR boxcars #60327 and #60358 get pulled from University Millwork along with loaded Railbox and NYC boxcars.

After clearing the siding Alco Joe spots APRR RBL #58279 at Hostess for its next PCCM load.

Alco Joe does a runaround move down the main as we get a good look at the EBRR and APRR Hi Cubes on the secondary track.

The BT-27 is back together and heads to Terminal Yard.

Back in the yard Big Mike couples up to the BT-27 caboose as Kar Knocker is ready to blue flag the train for inspection.

The train building is underway and the BT-27 cars are cleared for interchange. Empty EL boxcar #73510 and the other PCCM cars on track 6 will be held for local trains in our inbound portion.

Big Mike shoves cars for Train SK-7 into track #2. SK-7 will take cars classified for the Atlantic Pacific RRs Rock Ridge Yard. Sitting on tracks #3 and #4 are freight cars for Train SK-5 that will take cars classified for the Penn Central Kings Port Division and Kings Port & Western RR interchange.

Kar Knocker has cleared Train SK-5 to depart as engine hostler Wet Willie couples up the power for Train SK-7.

Train SK-5 is on the move!

SK-5 crosses onto the main as it heads for Selkirk and beyond.

A short time later Train SK-7 rumbles thru Bedford NY.

Train SK-7 takes the main at Bedford Station as it makes its way to Selkirk and beyond.

This wraps up the outbound portion on the NYCTL. Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Hope you'll check back for the Inbound portion scheduled to start this coming weekend.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya soon!!!
