Penn Central Car Movements #95 / Part 5 / Freight Starts Getting Delivered

 Greetings All,

Welcome Back To Penn Central Car Movements #95!!!

Our three layout virtual op with my NYCTL interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad continues today beginning with the delivery of our inbound freight cars.

We open up at the newly instituted Yard A with ex NYC switcher 8598 blocking cars for delivery to their respective consignees in the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex.

The Yard A switcher shoves the block of cars towards Terminal Warehouse. The three EBRR 57' reefers are going to Birdseye in building #3 for their next PCCM loads.

The switcher pulls the cars from the Terminal Warehouse siding.

Spotted at building 1 are an HRC 40' boxcar loaded with storage racks from Battaglia Brother's Warehouse in Kings Port NY. A pair of APRR RBLs for Empire Millwork are loaded with lumber from Mike's Lumber in Rock Ridge NJ

The EBRR 57' reefers are spotted at building 3 to receive their next PCCM loads from Birdseye.

The 8598 takes the cars from Terminal Warehouse back to Yard A.

Back at Yard A the switcher crew sets up their next movements to Terminal Warehouse by placing a trio of APRR 57' reefers on the headend. The reefers and boxcars will get shoved into empty track#1. The empty covered hoppers will then be moved.

The Yard A switcher pulls the empty EBRR and PC covered hoppers from track #2 thru the turnouts to access the Pier 16 Grain Silos.

The EBRR and PC Covered Hoppers are spotted at the Pier 16 Grain Silos for their next PCCM loads wrapping up today's Yard A PCCM car movements.

We now return to Bedford Park Yard and check in once again with engineer Robert R working the job again today with the RS-1.

The Bedford Park Ford Plant has unloaded the cars delivered yesterday and the 9921 prepares to pull them out.

Empty LV boxcar #8247 will head back towards Flint, MI while the empty PC/TOC, KP&W and NYC 60'ers will be returned to ACME Auto Parts in Mayfield NY.

A pair of loaded auto racks are also ready to go and a pair of empties are spotted for loading.

Robert R gets clearance at Bedford Tower to proceed towards Terminal Yard as Train BP-12.

Train BP-12 arrives in Terminal Yard.

Kar Knocker and Big Mike have the next group of shutdown cars for the Ford Plant ready to go. The 9921 is coupled on and building up the air pressure as Robert R takes a minute to chat with the guys.

Train BP-12 heads for the Bedford Park Ford Plant.

Robert R brings Train BP-41 in Bedford Park.

After a runaround moved the 9921 brings the cars back towards the Ford Plant.

EBRR boxcar #503827 along with the NYC and PRR 86'ers loaded with auto parts from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ are shoved into the Ford siding averting the shutdown of the assembly line.

We'll cut it here for today with Robert R tying down his locomotive and caboose until his next callout which will be very soon. Can someone please get that forklift operator some batteries for his door clicker!

We'll pick it up tomorrow at Terminal Yard with Alco Joe getting called for Train BT-27, the Bedford Turn.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

Two main operational themes stand out in this post; the importance of automobile assembly ops with the quick delivery and turnaround of cars related to that industry by the BP-12/ BP-41, AND the new operations at Yard A and Pier 16 which add so much more interest to the already busy Terminal Yard area. Nice work moving the PCCM cars and also averting a shutdown at Ford!

Thank you very much Ralph!!! As we learned the NYC and then PC handled a tremendous amount of auto related traffic that was expensive and challenging. I try and incorporate some of that into our ops. Thank you for the compliments on the new Yard A and thanks for the books that set the Yard A plan in motion!!
