Penn Central Car Movements #95 / Part 4 / The Inbound Trains Start To Arrive

 Greetings All,

Welcome Back to Penn Central Car Movements #95!!!

Our three layout virtual op with my NYCTL interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad continues today with the arrival of our inbound trains.

Train lists, car cards, waybills, switch lists and whiteout were all needed to get the fifty six PCCM 95 Inbound freight cars from the APRR and KPD on track and to be joined in with the twenty one PCCM cars from the Outbound portion that are still on the layout and awaiting further movements.

Even with all this preparation it's going to take five Inbound installments to document the car movements. So let's get started!!!

The inbound action starts with Penn Central Train FAST-50 from Selkirk coming thru Empire City.

The FAST-50, the Ford Auto Service Train is the hottest PCCM train on the NYCTL System, carrying auto parts, TOFC traffic and other priority tonnage. The engineer gets a highball at Bedford Tower. As well he should!!

The FAST-50 rolls thru Bedford NY

The Fast-50 arrives in Terminal Yard and brings out Kar Knocker and the Terminal Yard brass.

Catch the FAST-50 arriving in Terminal Yard.

Engine hostler Wet Willie watches the FAST-50 power, two U-Boats and a GP38 arrive at the engine terminal fuel pad. NYC U-Boat fans may remember that the 2858 (and 2859), classified as U30Bs are actually U33Bs, which gives this consist 8,300 HP.

Kar Knocker is out to blue flag and inspect the train as the yard engines couple up to the caboose and a reefer trailer gets refueled.

Big Mike and the Yard Job go primetime!

After the FAST-50 freight
consist is cleared the yard job shoves the four car block of TOFC traffic from the KP&W Williams Yard into the Terminal Yard TOFC track.

We're now over in Bedford Park Yard and we catch engineer Robert R reporting for work. The ex PRR RS-1continues in this assignment.

Train BP-12 leaves Bedford Park for Terminal Yard.

Robert R brings train BP-12 into Terminal Yard.

Big Mike and Kar Knocker have a block of "hot" cars of auto parts from ACME Auto Parts in Mayfield NY ready to be picked up. The 9921 is coupled on and pumping up the air.

Train BP-41 heads back to Bedford Park and the Ford Plant.

Robert R brings the BP-41into Bedford Park.

LV boxcar #8247 loaded with batteries from Delco in Flint, MI gets shoved into the Ford siding with the auto parts cars.

Robert R ties down his engine and caboose at Bedford Park Yard hopefully to get some rest as we'll be seeing a lot of him this weekend!

Over in Empire City and entering the High Line is our next inbound PCCM train from Selkirk, PC Train TY-6, led by APRR GP38-2 #358.

PC Train TY-6 heads towards Terminal Yard.

APRR #358 leads the GP38-2-U28C-F7A power consist and Train TY-6 into Terminal Yard. The APRR 358 known colloquially as "The Sir Neal" is quite a celebrity in these parts and draws railfans whenever it is in town. It looks like Chooch & Easy from the Kings Port Railway Society are running to get a look!

TY-6 rolls past the railfans and into Terminal Yard.

Engine hostler Wet Willie is out to greet the TY-6 power. The KPRS guys have run over for more photos of this good looking consist!
Once again Kar Knocker and Big Mike work together in getting the caboose pulled, the train blue flagged and inspected.

After the train is inspected Big Mike hauls the TY-6 freight consist off the arrival track towards a yard track.

The TY-6 freight cars are shoved into track#2. These cars going to nearby Bedford NY industries this will become PC local train BT-27, the Bedford Turn. The freight cars sitting on track #8 will be going to the newly established Yard A for delivery to tenants in the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex.

Over in Yard A the 8598 starts pulling some cleaned PCCM empties that were held to fulfill PCCM empty car requests from Bedford industries.

Three empties are shoved into track #3 to be blocked into the BT-27.

The 8598 couples up to a pair of APRR RBLs and an HRC 40' boxcar to be shoved back to Yard A.
The APRR and HRC cars are shoved into Yard A track #1.

We'll cut it here for today with train BT-27 blocked and ready to go.

We'll pick it up tomorrow starting at Yard A with the 8598 blocking freight cars for movement to their consignees in the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex.
Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Now we know why this inbound will take 5 installments! It must have taken 5 days to set this up! The FAST 50 train indeed is a hot train. Ford can’t be waiting for just any delivery, they must have it on time! Train SK-9 adds to the movement out of Terminal Yard, and, Bedford is THE PLACE to watch trains. Glad some of the KPRS enjoyed watching the APRR engine in action. Yard ‘A’ I can tell will be a great focal point going forward for your PCCM action.

    Nice start to your inbound!

I admire all of the train lists, car cards, waybills, and switch lists utilized to organize all of this train action! I'd need white out shipped by the tank car load! Good to see the hot Fast 50 roaring through Empire City again powered by its U33Cs! I can see why the TY-6 headed by the "Sir Neal" and the rest of its eclectic consist caused such a stir among local railfans and employees alike. The KPRS always seem to catch wind of the best moves and consists! Great action, meets, roll-bys all around! Looking forward to four more installments!
