Penn Central Car Movements #87 / NYCTL Part 3

 Greetings All,

Happy Halloween!!!

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #87!!!

Our two layout virtual operation with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division interchanging freight cars with my New York Central Layout continues today with the dispatch of our outbound trains.

Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR remains out of service with ongoing signal upgrades. Trains for the APRR will be held in Terminal Yard or the Pier 16 Yard until the APRR is back up and running.

The Terminal Yard yard job gets busy blocking the outbound cars and is working on the EB-2 freight consist that came in yesterday.

Train SK-7 starts getting built on track #1. The excavator on the flatcar is going to Sal's Salvage and the EL reefer and HR RBL are going to Van Winkle Canning.

Six coal hoppers for Corning Glass and an HR 40' boxcar going to Reynolds Beverage are coupled up to HR 50' RBL as SK-7 continues to be built on track #1.

Two more coal hoppers for Corning Glass and a gondola of pipe for Hudson Valley Ag Co Op via Williams Yard get coupled into the SK-7 consist.

The yard job turns it's attention to a train of loaded hoppers for the APRR which will need to be held at Terminal Yard. The PC PS2 hoppers are loaded with locomotive sand from T&R Gravel.

The APRR hoppers are shoved towards Pier 16 with an NYC unit coal train caboose protecting the shove. The coal hoppers are from Hudson Coal with loads for RMO Electric. In the background the Pier 16 switcher is pulling cars from Bruce Electric Equipment.

The loaded hoppers are shoved into Pier 16 yard track #2 to be held until the APRR is ready to receive them.

Meanwhile the Pier 16 switcher drops GM&O boxcar #21129 loaded with electrical wires and harnesses for Peerless Appliance at Terminal Yard.

The GM&O boxcar is shoved into the SK-7 freight consist.

Four empty coil coaches heading to Kings Port Steel are coupled into the SK-7 consist on Track #1

Three empty B&M RBLs to be cut off at Selkirk for delivery to the B&M are placed on the head end of Train SK-7.

The yard job continues its work pulling six loaded 57' reefers and  50' PC boxcar #360508 from Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage.

PC boxcar #360508 loaded with bulk paper for Marcal is shoved into a block of outbound freight cars for future dispatch to the APRR.

Six EBRR-APRR reefers with frozen food and an EL 57' reefer with frozen produce for C&P Restaurant Supply are shoved towards Pier 16 for placement on Pier 16 track #1.

Over at Pier 16 the Pier 16 switcher pulls three APRR covered hoppers loaded with grain from the Pier 16 Silos going to Cargill in Rock Ridge NJ.

The three covered hoppers are shoved into Pier 16 yard track #1 to await future dispatch to the APRR.

The covered hoppers join the seven car block of 57' reefers on Pier 16 track #1.

A fuel truck has been dispatched to top off the fuel tanks of the mechanical refrigerators to keep the refrigeration units running.

It's time to call out the outbound power!!! Two FP7s and one F7A get the call.

The Train SK-7, a mixed manifest originating at Terminal Yard and terminating at Selkirk departs.

Train SK-7 heads for Selkirk!!

Next stop Selkirk!!!

Penn Central Car Movements #87 / NYCTL Part 2

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #87!!!

Our two layout virtual operation with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division interchanging freight cars with my New York Central Layout continues today. Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR remains out of service with the ongoing signal upgrades.

We open up today with Train EC-1, a daily transfer to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard in Empire City, departing Terminal Yard.

Train EC-1 heads to North Side Yard.

GP38 #2010 and SD35 #6018 bring EC-1 into North Side Yard. The 2010 is ex PRSL #2010 that came to the PC when EMD pulled a five unit order from the PRSL around August 1970 due to credit issues. EMD decided that the bankrupt PC was more credit worthy and the PC was allowed to assume ownership. The 6018 is an ex PRR unit.

The caboose is reclaimed and the consist heads back to Terminal Yard as Train EC-2.

With EC-2 out of the away the Empire Belt Morning Industrial Job has left the yard and is now on the Empire City secondary track.

The EBRR MIJ shoves into the eastside industrial complex to work Gervais Pipe and pulls two empty Evans Coil Cars for return to Kings Port Steel and PC gondola #288673 loaded with pipe for the Hudson Valley Co Op.

Three empty B&M RBLs get pulled from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse for return to the B&M at Merrimack, NH.

The MIJs next move is to work the midtown siding and pull this PC depressed flat #766053 loaded with an excavator for Sal's Salvage.

If I'm not mistaken Sal remains the prime suspect in a recent  Caterpillar Excavator theft!!

The MIJ is now pulling cars from the Empire Produce siding. The HRC 50' RBL and EL 50' reefer are loaded with fresh produce for Van Winkle Canning and the BAR 5226 is an empty.

The Morning Industrial Job is back together and ready to head back to North Side Yard.

The MIJ is on the move!

The EBRR trainmen have organized the yard and Train EB-2, a daily transfer to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard is preparing to depart.

Three gondolas of pipe for Tropicana, an empty IC boxcar, two APRR RBLs loaded with packaged food and an EL 57' reefer loaded with produce consigned to C&P Restaurant Supply are added to the EB-2.

The EB-2 rumbles across the Empire City viaduct.

Train EB-2 roll thru Bedford NY towards Terminal Yard.

With the train meet complete the Coal Job, Train CJ-1, starts pulling loaded hoppers from Hudson Coal. The PRR, NYC and six more hoppers of coal will be going to Corning Glass in corning NY.

The last of the loads get pulled out.

The CJ-1 crosses onto the main at Bedford Tower.

The CJ-1 shoves the empty hoppers back to Hudson Coal.

The empty hoppers are spotted.

The Coal Job is back together and pumping up the air.

We'll close it out today with the Coal Job heading back to Terminal Yard as Train CJ-2.

Tomorrow we'll turn it over to the Terminal Yard trainmen to make our final moves and dispatch our outbound trains.

Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!

Thanks for reading and watching!!!

See ya tomorrow!!!

Penn Central Car Movements #87 / NYCTL Part 1

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #87!!!

This virtual op will be another two layout operation with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division interchanging freight cars with my New York Central Layout. Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR remains out of service with the ongoing signal upgrades.

The action starts at the Bedford Park Ford Plant with Baldwin S-12 #9314 pulling two empty Evans coil coaches from the steel track to be sent back to Kings Port Steel for reloading.

The S-12 gathers up some freight cars from Bedford Park Yard.

The 9314 brings Train BP-12 out of Bedford Park and into Bedford as it heads to Terminal Yard.

The BP-12 arrives in Terminal Yard.

With Train BP-12 safely in the yard Train MR-1, The Mine Run that serves Hudson Coal and T&R Gravel, prepares to depart.

The first stop is T&R Gravel to pull four PC PS2 covered hoppers loaded with locomotive sand for the APRRs Richmond Hill Engine Terminal.

The PS2 hoppers are shoved into Hudson Coal to allow for the NYC and LIRR hoppers on the right to be spotted at T&R Gravel.

The MR-1 returns to Hudson Coal and starts pulling out the loads

Loaded APRR coal hoppers make their PCCM debut with loads for RMO Electric in Rock Ridge NJ.

The MR-1 pulls the loads out of Hudson Coal and shoves the empties back for loading.

The empties are spotted for loading.

The loaded hopper train gets ready to head back to Terminal Yard as Train MR-2.

Train MR-2 heads back to Terminal Yard.

The GP7s pull into the engine terminal for servicing.

Our final train today is the Bedford Turn, Train BT-27, powered by three GP30s in three paint schemes. The 2218 is relegated to a middle unit as it lacks agreement seats. The 2232, an ex PRR unit received the NYC style seats when shopped for painting.

The Bedford Turn rolls into Bedford.

The Turn pulls AP boxcar #58279 from Hostess loaded with baked goods for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ.

The turn shoves into the Schaefer Brewery siding to pull three boxcars loaded with beer.

Including this HR boxcar loaded with the one beer to have when having more than one that is going to Reynolds Beverage.

The turn shoves another block of boxcars into the Schaefer siding as RDC #499 stops at Bedford Station.

After the RDC is clear the GP30s have received permission to make their runaround move down the mainline.

The Bedford Turn heads back to Terminal Yard

The Turn comes back into the yard.

We'll close it here for today with the GP30s joining the GP7s in the engine terminal.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with the dispatch of Train EC-1, a daily transfer from Terminal Yard to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard in Empire City.

Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!
