Penn Central Car Movements #83 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 3 Dispatch of Outbound Trains

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #83!!!

The outbound portions of this virtual op, a three layout affair with my NYCTL interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR, concludes today.

We start our final installment of the Outbound Portion of PCCM 83 at Terminal Yard with Big Mike and Kar Knocker working to organize the yard to receive and dispatch our outbound trains.

Four loaded ballast hoppers for the APRR MOW at Rock Ridge Yard get coupled to a caboose as Big Mike builds train SK-5 that will take freight cars for the Atlantic Pacific RR.

Empty auto parts cars, Gulf tank cars and KP&W PS2 and PC PS2 hoppers loaded with lime for Port Owen Brick are being blocked for train SK-7 that will take cars for the Kings Port Division and Kings Port & Western RR.

PC boxcar #360158 loaded with TV cabinets for Zenith and TPW boxcar #627 loaded with printed labels for Van Winkle Canning are put into Block #5 of SK-7 that takes cars for Bloomberg NY.

Over at North Side Yard PC Ralph is preparing to depart for Terminal Yard with a good sized EBRR Train EB-2. Senior engineer Sir Neal and PC Ralph discuss today's tonnage and decide the EBRR U23Cs that were built for heavy drag service should be able to handle the EB-2 without helpers.

The EB-2 rumbles thru Bedford toward Terminal Yard

The EB-2 rolls into Terminal Yard. Helpers! Who needs helpers!!

PC Ralph and his brakeman conductor are ready to head back to North Side Yard caboose lite but stop first to chat with Big Mike, Kar Knocker and the yardmaster to discuss the pulling power of the U23CS which are on display and the current state of affairs for PCCM 83.

Kar Knocker has completed his inspection and Big Mike couples his U23Cs up to the cars brought in on train EB-2. The empty Tropicana RBL will be heading back to Tropicana in Rock Ridge NJ in train SK-5.

NYC covered hopper #892010 loaded with flour for Freihofer's Bakery joins the Tropicana RBL and a trio of gondolas loaded with pipe for Shapeless Steel in train SK-5.

Big Mike is now blocking train SK-7. EBRR #360279 is loaded with processing machines for IBM, RI #35062 is loaded with bulk hardware for IBM in Binghamton NY which will be block #2. The LV NIRX is empty heading back to the LV via the KP&W and will be in block #1.

More blocking on SK-7 has the P&LE #35892 and NYC #80775 loaded with bulk hardware and appliance parts for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY being put into block #6.

Big Mike now turns his attention to the yard limits movements and pulls APRR covered hoppers from the Pier 16 Silos loaded with grain for Rock Ridge Cargill.

Three PC covered hoppers join the APRR covered hoppers heading to Rock Ridge Cargill with grain loads from the Pier 16 Silos.

The six covered hoppers are placed in train SK-5.

Next move for Big Mike is to pull empty PC boxcar #142770 and empty EBRR boxcars #416035 and #416079 from Terminal Warehouse for their next PCCM loads.

The PC and EBRR empties are placed in the yard and will head out in local trains for loading in the Inbound portion of this op.

Engine hostler Wet Willie has coupled on the power for train SK-5 and Kar Knocker gets the train ready to go.

Train SK-5 heads thru Bedford for Selkirk with freight cars for
the APRR Rock Ridge Yard

Next stop Selkirk!!!

Wet Willie has the SK-7 power coupled on and Kar Knocker is ready to clear the train.

Train SK-7 heads thru Bedford for Selkirk with freight cars for the Penn Central Kings Port Division and Kings Port & Western RR

Next Stop Selkirk!!!!

That wraps up the NYCTL outbound portion!!!!

Jimmy Alco and conductor John have exchanged waybills and Jimmy is ready to head back to his home rails.

The LIRR caboose is reclaimed.

The LIRR train heads back to Bliss Yard

Conductor John has waybills and a switch list prepared. He and senior engineer Sir Neal will work the Morning Industrial Job. PC Ralph will work the yard and ready the MIJ for departure.

PC Ralph has put the MIJ together and will continue to work the yard as Sir Neal has coupled up his EMD SDP40s to the train.

The MIJ crosses over from the Empire City main to the secondary.

The MIJ gets to work on the east side pulling three EBRR gondolas from Gervais Pipe & Fitting loaded with pipe for Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge NJ.

Sir Neal has shoved back to the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding to pull three empty reefers including the Tropicana RBL that will head back to Tropicana in Rock Ridge NJ.

Next move is at EC Cargill to pull a string of covered hoppers.

A pair of EBRR covered hoppers are spotted at EC Cargill for their next PCCM loads.

Now working the midtown siding the MIJ pulls NYC covered hopper #892010 from Red Wing Milling loaded with flour for Freihofer's Bakery in Rock Ridge NJ.

The MIJ heads west to work the west side industries

We'll cut it here today with the MIJ being doubled over from track #3 to track #1.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with PC Ralph bringing Train EB-2 from North Side Yard to Terminal Yard and then turn it over to the Terminal Yard crew to build and dispatch our outbound trains.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Penn Central Car Movements #83 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 1 / The Outbound Cycle Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #83!!!

This virtual op will once again be a three layout affair with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR

We open up as usual at Bedford Park Yard with Robert R opening up his Alco S-4 and the All City Storage forklift operator now remembering he forgot to change the batteries in his remote door clicker.

Robert R gets the outbound action started at American Hardware Supply by pulling P&LE boxcar #35892 loaded with bulk hardware for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY and RI boxcar #35062 loaded with bulk hardware for IBM in Binghamton NY.

Empty PC boxcar #160502 gets pulled from All City Storage for it's next PCCM load.

The boxcars are set in the tiny Bedford Park Yard for Robert R to make his next moves.

The first of those moves is to pull two empty Gulf tank cars from the Ford tank track for return to Gulf in West Mill NY.

The tank cars get coupled to the three boxcars and all are pulled out of the yard towards the Ford Plant in the background.

Robert R works Ford track #1 and pulls out a trio of empty 60' boxcars for return to ACME Auto Parts in Mayfield NY.

Robert has the train together and gets clearance from the Bedford Tower operator to depart for Terminal Yard as Train BP-12.

BP-12 heads to Terminal Yard

The BP-12 arrives at Terminal Yard.

Robert R confers with Kar Knocker who has the outbound train for Bedford Park, Train BP-41, ready to go. The NYCTL trainmen know that delaying any shipment to Ford will result in an earful of complaints so the outbound BP-41 is usually ready to go when the BP-12 arrives.

The BP-41 heads for Bedford Park with non PCCM cars.

Back at the Terminal Yard engine terminal engine hostler Wet Willie assures Alco Joe he has the units for today's Bedford Turn, Train BT-27, fully sanded and fueled.

Looks like Wet Willie has pulled a fast one as he coupled a pair of EMD GP7s to the BT-27 freight consist. Alco Joe will have to settle for the EMD Joe or GP Joe moniker today as he leaves the yard.

The BT-27 heads down track #1 to service T&R Gravel in the background.

Four APRR ballast hoppers for the APRR MOW and KP&W and PC PS 2 covered hoppers loaded with lime for Port Owen Brick get pulled from T&R Gravel.

GP Joe is gonna need that sand to shove these cars back up track #1!

After getting the BT-27 back in order GP Joe brings the BT-27 into Bedford.

TP&W boxcar #627 gets pulled from Berk Enterprises with a load of printed labels for Van Winkle Canning in Bloomberg NY.

PC boxcar # 360158 gets pulled from University Millwork with a load of TV cabinets for Zenith in Bloomberg NY.

GP Joe has the BT 27 back together and heads back towards Terminal Yard.

The BT-27 climbs the grade back to Terminal Yard

We'll cut it here for today with the BT-27 rolling back into Terminal Yard under the watchful eyes of Kar Knocker and his new truck.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with the dispatch of some outbound trains from Terminal Yard before turning it over to the LIRR and EBRR.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.
