Penn Central Car Movements #95 / Part 3 / Dispatch of Outbound Train

 Greetings All,

Welcome Back To Penn Central Car Movements #95!!!

Our three layout virtual op with my NYCTL interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad continues today with the dispatch of our outbound train.

Our day starts with Empire Belt RR Senior Engineer Sir Neal ready to depart on the Empire City Belt Line with EBRR Train EB-2, the daily transfer run to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard.

Train EB-2 crosses the Empire City viaduct.

Sir Neal brings the EB-2 past Bedford Station.

Train EB-2 arrives in Terminal Yard.

After turning in their waybills and car cards at the office the EBRR crew heads back to North Side Yard caboose light.

A few hours later Kar Knocker has inspected and accepted the EB-2 consist. Big Mike in the U23Cs assigned to the yard job couples onto the train to begin the classification and blocking process.

Empty cars for local industry loading have been placed in the newly designated Yard A. Laborers clean out NYC boxcar 47062 for its next PCCM load. Supt Shore checks with the Protective Perishable Service personnel making sure all of the reefer cars working properly and refueled prior to receiving their next PCCM loads.

Back at Terminal Yard three empty Gulf tank cars get pulled from the tank car track for return the the Gulf River Facility.

Over in the engine terminal the 9999 pulls PC flatcar 766053 with an EMD Prime Mover out of the shop.

The PC 766053 is placed in Terminal Yard for its trip to the Kings Port Engine Terminal.

Below the Yard A switcher makes its first PCCM move as it pulls EL reefer #5034 from the Birdseye loading dock at Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage loaded with frozen vegetables for ShopRite in Rock Ridge NJ. Birdseye is a new tenant and occupies a large part of Building #3

The Yard A switch engine pulls two loaded NYC double door boxcars from Bruce Electric Equipment loaded with wiring and cables for IBM in Binghamton, NY.

Ex NYC Alco S4 #8598 is just out of the shop and working close by at Yard A so the shop forces can keep an eye on it. Below the switcher is dropping off the NYC cars from Bruce Electric on Terminal Yard track #8.

The S-4 is now busy pulling out three APRR covered hoppers from the Pier 16 Silos that are loaded with grain for the large Cargill Facility in Rock Ridge, NJ.

The APRR covered hoppers join the NYC boxcars on Terminal Yard track #8. The S-4 is heading back towards Yard A and it's next assignment.

Reefer cars, an empty covered hopper and three Hi Cubes of appliances all going to the APRR Rock Ridge Yard get shoved into track #4. Empty Evans Coil Coaches for Kings Port Steel watch from track #6

The Yard Job gets to work building outbound PCCM Penn Central Train SK-57 that will take freight cars for the KP&W, KPD and APRR to Selkirk where the train will terminate. The NYC boxcars make a convenient set of buffers between the prime mover and gulf tank cars.

Freight cars for the APRR's Rock Ridge Yard will be on the hind end of the SK-57 and are getting shoved into the departure track. The coil coaches on track #9 are going to the Kings Port & Western RR and will be on the head end of the SK-57.

Loaded coal hoppers going to Tri Mount Cement via the KPD West Mill Yard are coupled up to the APRR block.

The SK-57 power consisting of a U28C-U33C-GP38-GP38-2 has coupled on. The terminal air test is completed and it is time to go!

Train SK-57 rumbles thru Bedford NY.

The SK-57 get a highball at Bedford Tower. Next stop Selkirk!!!!

This wraps up the NYCTL's inbound portion of PCCM 95. I hope you've enjoyed following along. We'll be back this Friday and start posting the inbound portion of our virtual operations.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you next week!!!

Long trains have been prominent in this series! Transfer EB-2 was impressive as it crossed the Empire City Viaduct and ran through Bedford Station! The GP18s and FB1 combined their horsepower like champs to pull the lengthy train! Congratulations on the premier inclusion of Yard A ops and car movements at Birdsye as a new customer tenant at Terminal Warehouse! These operations in addition to the Pier 16 work will keep Terminal Yard crews busy into the third trick! We railfans will love it! The images of freight car clean out and perishable car service add a nice bit of realism to the ops and remind ups of some of the behind the scenes maintenance tasks that keep cars rolling. SK-57 was another impressively long train attesting to how our virtual ops have grown over the years!
