Scenery Improvements For The Terminal Yard Extension

Greetings All,

With several rolling stock paint projects and P.C.C.M.50A in the books I turned my attention to the Terminal Yard expansion. This area was in desperate need of some scenery and right of way upgrades and I wanted to have it looking better before the October 6th posting of the inbound action for P.C.CM. 50.

As noted above this and many other model railroad projects in  recent years have been spurred on by what we call the ''virtual ops catalyst.'' Being involved in the virtual ops has led to the N.Y.C.T.L. being expanded and improved for the purpose of better operations and better photographing opportunities to document the freight car movements.

 Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage is now a  major destination.

Work has started with a Penn Central work train and laborers adding ballast to the right of way and some larger rocks to protect the R.O.W. from the trucks using the T.O.F.C. ramp.

A little ballast, a little greenery and some larger rocks protecting the R.O.W. and the area is coming together nicely 

Next assignment was the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage lead. Sifted gravel has been put down between the building and track.

 The large flat is looking much better at track level.

 Here's the siding and running track both ballasted.

With reefer cars on the siding, the overhead T.O.F.C crane in place working the T.O.F.C track and a pair of GP38s the scene is looking much more photo friendly. This was the results at the end of day 1. 

On day 2 I turned my attention to the corner containing  Bruce Electric Equipment. The fence poles are in for the planned chain link fence.

The siding has been ballasted, the fence is in and 1/87th scale John Bruce is supervising the paving of his storage yard .

Empty cable reels return via boxcar and will be stored in the yard until needed.

Large crates of electrical components also being stored in the yard.

A yard worker loads up a truck from a local electrical distributor and with that Bruce Electric Equipment is now back in business! End of day 2.

The following day I worked on the foreground tracks and here's the project at the end of day 3. More to come later this week as some P.C.C.M. 50 action will be in and around this area.
