P.C.C.M. 50K

Greetings All,

Welcome to P.C.C.M. 50K!

Today we'll focus on freight cars forwarded to the N.Y.C.T.L. from the A.P.R.R. via Rock Ridge Yard, Weehawken and Selkirk. The AP.R.R. had suffered a major derailment that delayed it's trains from leaving Rock Ridge Yard and interchanging with the Penn Central at Weehawken Yard. With their tracks finally cleared A.P.R.R. management dispatched it's trains fast and furious with all trains running as Extra until the backlog cleared.

Once on the Penn Central, Extra 8045, with a lot of time sensitive freight was dispatched from Weehawken to Selkirk. Upon arrival  the freight cars for Terminal Yard were assigned to PC Train HP-2 that leaves Selkirk at 7:30 PM and is due in at Terminal Yard at 3:00 AM.

We'll pick up PC Train HP-2 as it comes thru Empire City on its way to Terminal Yard

HP-2 comes over the Empire City viaduct with an A.P.R.R. GP38 and an EL GP7 in the power consist. The EL unit was leased by the A.P.R.R. to help it get the backlog of trains moving.
HP-2 on the High Line with a long string of reefers in block 1.
Passing Bedford Tower & the exhausted 1/87th scale John B.
HP-2 with the long string of reefers from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ in Block 1
A trio of 86' Auto Parts cars from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ make up block 2.
Block 3 has six empty coal hoppers from RMO Electric and Block 4 has 1 covered hopper from Cargill and two empty RS-2 covered hoppers from the A.P.R.R. engine terminal. PC caboose #18418 brings up the markers.
HP-2 arrives shortly after 3:00 AM. While cars in the train were delayed at Rock Ridge this PC train is on time at Terminal Yard!
The yard job gets to work on HP-2 coupling up to the 18418.
The Yard Job shoves the empty coal hoppers into track #5 as the EMD SW8s idle away with today's Bedford Local.
The Bedford Local is moved to the longer track#4 as freight cars from Rock Ridge are added to the trio of boxcars out of West Mill  that still need to be delivered to Heileman Brewery.
The local crew will be busy this morning as two empty PS2 hoppers for T&R Gravel are added to the train.
The Yard Job sets up Train BP-41 going to the Bedford Park Ford Plant with parts from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ.
The Yard Job is now shoving this group  of 57' Mechanical Reefers from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ thru Terminal Yard
The string of reefers pass Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage in the background which is where they will be going tomorrow. The delay at Rock Ridge has caused them to miss their door time.
Terminal Yard management has dispatched this pair of fuel trucks to top off the fuel tanks on the reefers to keep their refrigeration units running and contents from spoiling.
We'll cut it off here today as 1/87th scale Alco Joe heads for C-425 #2417 that will lead the four unit Alco set and train BP-41.
Tomorrow we'll get these freight cars on their way to their consignees and interchanges.

Thanks for reading!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great to see the the freight getting to Terminal Yard. The extra motive power added to the train is a big help. Nice touch adding the fuel trucks to keep those new reefers cold! The A.P.R.R. is very appreciative of the work they do at the N.Y.C.T.L.!

  3. Really liked the new vantage point of your video. Down in the weeds point of view. Makes you feel like your in the middle of the action. Great looking pool power train with the PC, APRR and EL units. The EL GP18 is a new addition to the PCCM. The fuel trucks turned out great and add a nice touch to the scene. Agree with Ralph, your APRR and EB mechanical reefers really look sharp!
