Penn Central Car Movements #77 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / The Inbound Cycle Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #77!!

The inbound portion of this three layout virtual op with my New York Central Train Layout interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad begins today.

The inbound action opens up with Penn Central Train FAST 50 from Selkirk rolling across the Empire City viaduct as it heads towards Terminal Yard with auto parts, coiled steel, auto racks and TOFC traffic.

FAST 50 heads thru Empire City.

The FAST 50 is the hottest freight train coming from Selkirk to Terminal Yard and rates five GP30s to keep to it's schedule.

Auto parts boxcars from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ, served by the Atlantic Pacific RR, are on the head end.

Coiled steel for the Ford Plant and TOFC traffic from the Kings Port & Western RR surround empty auto racks at the tail end of FAST 50.

The FAST 50 arrives at Terminal Yard under the watchful eye of the Kar Knocker.

The GP30s have been cut from the FAST 50 and arrive in the engine terminal for servicing.

A short time later Kar Knocker has cleared the train and the yard job gets to work.

Four T.O.F.C. cars originating at Mechanicville NY on the B&M then traveling on the KP&W to Williams Yard get spotted at the Terminal Yard T.O.F.C. track.

The yardmaster gives Big Mike the sequence of freight cars that are needed today at the Bedford Park Ford Plant.

The FAST 50 Auto Parts and Steel Coil cars get blocked.

Over at Bedford Park Yard engineer Robert R has reported for duty.

The day starts at the Ford Plant with the Bedford Park Yard Job pulling out a pair of empty coil steel coaches from the steel track.

Finished autos on open racks get pulled out next.

Robert R brings Train BP-12 to Terminal Yard

After bringing BP-12 into Terminal Yard Robert R does a quick turnaround leaving with Train BP-41 which consists of two coil steel coaches from Kings Port Steel, two 86' boxcars from IDEAL Auto Parts and a pair of empty auto racks.

Train BP-41 heads to Bedford Park Yard

Train BP-41 arrives back at Bedford Park Yard.

Steel coils from Kings Port Steel get spotted on the Ford Plant steel track.

After a runaround move Robert R pulls the 86' boxcars towards the Ford Plant boxcar shipping and receiving track

EBRR and APRR 86' boxcars from IDEAL Auto Parts are spotted for unloading.

We'll cut it here for today with the Ford Plant once again confidently humming along thanks to the Penn Central Railroad trainmen.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with Train TY-2 leading the inbound parade from Selkirk.

Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great job getting that Fast 50 turned around. The Ford Plant never stops and Kar Knicker did a great job at getting the train and loads ready for the Ford run. I know I’ve said it before, gotta love the engine terminal!

Acknowledge arrival of the FAST 50 and the dispatch of Turn BP-12/BP-41.

    West Mill out.

The FAST 50 is a cool railroad concept! A quintet of GP30s makes for an impressive consist on this important train. I'm proud to see cars from the KPD included on the manifest. Bedford Park Yard works its usual magic to keep the Ford plant humming! Nice job all around!

    1. Thank very much PC Ralph! The FAST 50 works well when traffic to the Ford Plant is sufficient. The TOFC cars are also high priority and adding them in with the auto racks was a PC practice on trains ML-9 and ML-12.
