Penn Central Car Movements #77 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part #1 / The Outbound Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #77!!

This will be a three layout virtual op with my New York Central Train Layout interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad.

We open up in Bedford NY with the Long Island RR pulling six empty 57' reefers to be interchanged with the Empire Belt RR at the E.B.R.R. North Side Yard in Empire City NY.

The LIRR passing the new Schaefer Brewery

The LIRR Alcos and reefers ease into North Side Yard track #2.
LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco couples up to the outbound cars for the LIRR at no more than 4 MPH to minimize potential cargo damage.
Jimmy Alco stops at the E.B.R.R. office to exchange waybills and get lunch recommendations.
There's Jimmy Alco heading over to Dominick's where he was assured the veal is the best in the city. These LIRR guys are eating good!
With the food order in the cab the LIRR caboose is reclaimed.
Jimmy Alco brings the LIRR train around the west side curve and heads for home!
With the LIRR train gone it's time for the Empire Belt trainmen to get to work. PC Ralph, in the cab of the 2160, is in charge of the Morning Industrial Job that works the local industries. FB-1 #3327 has been spliced between the GP30s for additional power.
Sir Neal will be in charge of train EB-2, a daily transfer to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard.
PC Ralph assists with the building of EB-2 as Sir Neal shoves the empty 57' reefers into the rest of the cars making up EB-2.
EB-2 comes around the west side as Sir Neal notches up the throttle.

Train EB-2 passing Bedford Station

Train EB-2 rolls into Terminal Yard under the watchful eye of the Kar Knocker.
The Kar Knocker carefully inspects the P.C.C.M. cars as they roll by.
After cutting from EB-2 Sir Neal brings his engines to the fuel rack.
"Fill er up Willie, check all the fluids and wash the windows!" And don't forget my plaid stamps chuckles Sir Neal.
Meanwhile the yard job gets to work pulling off the caboose as Kar Knocker prepares to Blue Flag the train for inspection.
About an hour later the yard job shoves the P.C.C.M. cars from EB-2 into track #3 joining four empty P.C.C.M. 60' boxcars.
The empty 57' reefers are spotted to have their fuel tanks filled prior to being spotted for their next loads.
The fuel trucks get to work filling the fuel tanks. The refrigerator units will be started and the cars will begin their precooling process.
Next we catch the Pier 16 Job pulling GM&O boxcar #21129 from Bruce Electric Equipment.
We'll cut it here for today with the GM&O 21129, loaded with electrical parts for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY, dropped here for pick up by the Terminal Yard crew.
We'll pick it up tomorrow starting with Big Mike and the yard job and we'll check back with PC Ralph at work in Empire City.
Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad.

Thanks for reading and watching!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Plaid stamps? Boy, does that bring back memories! Nice touch having the reefers fueled up for the trip to Rock Ridge. I know it must sound like a broken record, but EVERY time I see your engine terminal that is the job I want to run on your layout. I love seeing our reefers behind the LIRR engines, just looks so great!

Thank you very much Sir Neal!!! Glad you liked the plaid stamps reference! I appreciate the engine terminal compliments and knowing how much you like it I try to incorporate it into the action as much as possible. Those green reefers make an impressive block!

Acknowledge the dispatch of the LIRR Transfer, Train EB-2, and the Pier 16 Job.

    West Mill out.

You did such a fine job on those green custom painted reefers featured in the LIRR Transfer. Always a pleasure to see them. Like Neal I liked the scene of them being fueled. Someone should warn Jimmy Alco to not dine at Dominicks with anyone named Michael...and to especially not hang around if he excuses himself to use the restroom! Neat addition of the FB-1 to the Empire Belt's MIJ consist!
