Penn Central Car Movements #74 / Part 5 / The Inbound Cycle Continues

Greetings All,
Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #74!!
The three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and
Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.
continues today.

We open up with Train BP-41 running from Terminal Yard towards Bedford Park Yard with another block of hot auto parts cars.
The four car block from the Kings Port Division are brought into the Bedford Park Yard where 1/87th scale Robert R will perform another runaround move to get the cars into the yard.
1/87th scale Robert R has Bedford Park in good shape.
Five cars of auto parts are ready when called by the Ford Plant.
PC boxcar 272242 is spotted at American Hardware Supply for it's next P.C.C.M. load as 1/87th scale Robert R goes off duty.
The following day 1/87th scale Robert R is back on duty bright and early at Bedford Park Yard getting the yard sorted.
First stop once again is the Ford Plant as a trio of empty auto parts cars get pulled out of the siding.
Now coupled up to the caboose and auto parts cars from the yard the Alco S4 pulls out onto the Bedford Park Yard lead to clear the switch into the Ford Plant siding.
PC /TOC, KP&W and NYC 60' cars with auto parts from ACME in Mayfield NY get shoved into the Ford siding along with an EBRR 60'er with auto parts from IDEAL in Rock Ridge NJ.
1/87th scale Robert R leaves Bedford Park and heads for Terminal Yard with train BP-12.
Upon arrival at Terminal Yard the S4 rolls into track #4 and couples right up to another set of hot auto parts cars for the Ford Plant.
The Terminal Yard yard job quickly pulls the empties off the S4.
1/87th scale Robert R has Train BP-41 ready to go but first he and Kar Knocker get an atta boy from the yard master and District Sup't for their work expediting these hot shutdown cars and keeping the Ford people off their backs.
BP-41 is now on the Bedford Secondary heading back to Bedford Park Yard.
Meanwhile we see Train TY-2 from Selkirk crossing the Empire City viaduct as it heads for Terminal Yard.

The Bedford Needle is threaded!

TY-2 arrives in Terminal Yard.
After arriving with Train BP-41 1/87th scale Robert R has Bedford Park Yard in good order and is ready to deliver these rolling warehouses to the Ford Plant when called for.
Turning our attention now to Terminal Yard, 1/87th scale Kar Knocker has completed his inspection and releases the train to the yard crew.
Four empty APRR ballast hoppers sit on track #3 awaiting delivery to T&R Gravel as the yard engine puts together Train EC-1, a daily transfer freight to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard.
Train EC-1 continues to grow with freight cars for Empire City industries and for interchange with the Long Island RR.
The yard job shoves a cut of four T.O.F.C. cars from the Williams Yard Ramp up track #8.
The T.O.F.C. cars are spotted at the Terminal Yard ramp for unloading.
Over at the engine terminal 1/87th scale engine hostler Wet Willie starts to get the power out of the engine terminal.
We'll close it out here with 1/87th scale Wet Willie getting the engines coupled on and 1/87th scale Kar Knocker taking over from here to get the trains ready for departure.
We'll pick it up tomorrow with the dispatch of Train EC-1

Be sure to follow the action on
1:1 scale PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and
1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Great expedited shipping of hot commodity cars to Ford! The BP12/41 turnaround is an impressive op! "Rolling warehouses" is an apt nickname for those 86 footers! I enjoyed the nice meet at the "Bedford Needle"; one of the N.Y.C.T.L. railfan hot spots! Have I mentioned my admiration of the A.P.R.R. ballast hoppers? Nice work all around!

Thanks for the compliments Ralph!! The "hot" cars for Ford are keeping us hopping this series! Those 86' boxcars are humongous! They barely make the turns into Bedford Park Yard. Thanks for the compliments on the A.P.R.R. ballast hoppers!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

I really liked Train TY-2 doing the ‘Bedford Needle’, very nice action! There was a quick turnaround for the Ford plant with all of those auto box cars, they did a great job turning the cars around. Those A.P.R.R. ballast cars look sharp on track 3. We’ll wait for them to get loaded and sent back to Rock Ridge. There’s something about the look of a string of U Boats that make them look impressive, both on the viaduct and the yard!

Thank you for the compliments 1:1 Sir Neal!!! The guys have done a good job getting the Ford people all the auto parts required for them to continue with their assembly lines. The A.P.R.R. ballast hoppers are really eye catching. I'm glad we got into that project. U-Boats in consist do have a nice look. The two U-Boats on TY-2 were ably assisted by an Alco C430 and an EMD GP35 making that a "we ain't mad at anybody consist"!
