Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #74!!
P.C.C.M. 74 is another three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. exchanging freight cars with
1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and
PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.
Due to handling and speed restrictions on the Hudson Division the open pulp wood and the saw log cars for Half Moon Wholesale Lumber will need to travel to Selkirk as an Extra train movement.
We open up today at Terminal Yard with the yard job shoving four Penn Central PS2 hoppers headed to the Atlantic Pacific RR engine terminal into track #3.
NYC and PRR coal hoppers for Corning Glass and long string of coal hoppers for the Port Owen Power Plant and R.M.O. Electric get sorted into the outbound Extra that will depart early tomorrow.
Next we turn our attention to the Bedford Turn, Penn Central Train BT-27, as it leaves Terminal Yard with two GP7s, a covered hopper and a PC N5H caboose.
BT-27 arrives in Bedford passing Berk Enterprises and TP&W 40' boxcar #627 loaded with printed labels for Van Winkle Canning.BT-27 shoves back into the Bedford industrial siding to pull the empty Hostess covered hopper going back to the Rock Ridge Cargill facility and empty PC boxcar #360158.
After some additional switch work PC 50' boxcar #360158 gets spotted at University Millwork for it's next P.C.C.M. load.
The GP7s with PC N5H #18435 making it's virtual ops debut head towards Heileman Brewery.
Being pulled from Heilman Brewery is this Hoschton Railway 40' boxcar loaded with beer for Reynolds Beverage in Kings Port NY.
Train BT-27 is back to together on the Bedford Secondary and heads for home.
BT-27 arrives back at Terminal Yard.
Next we turn our attention to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard as 1/87th scale Sir Neal and conductor John prepare a two car Afternoon Industrial Job for departure.
The first stop for the A.I.J. is Moore & Company to pick up two AP 40' boxcars loaded with imported electronics for IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ.
Next stop will be City Pallet making its virtual ops debut.
Two empty AP 50' boxcars get spotted for their next P.C.C.M. loads.
The AP cars will get the inaugural first load of pallets that will go to Van Winkle Canning in Bloomberg NY.
The Afternoon Industrial Job is back together and heading towards the east side.
Two loaded E.B.R.R. covered hoppers get pulled from Empire City Cargill.
1/87th scale Sir Neal brings the A.I.J. back into North Side Yard.
After a run around move 1/87th scale Sir Neal pulls the A.I.J. freight cars, caboose and the caboose from Train EB-4 sitting on track 1 out of the yard.
We'll close it out here for today with the A.I.J. freight cars and the EB-4 caboose coupled on.
We'll pick it up and close it out tomorrow starting with the Empire Belt RR delivering Train EB-4 to Terminal Yard.
That will be followed up with plenty of yard work, train building and the dispatch of our outbound trains.

June 20, 1970 was a pleasant day in Philadelphia when Penn Central president Paul Gorman traveled to Washington DC in a desperate final attempt to secure guaranteed loans to keep the Penn Central afloat. It was not to be.
Upon return to Penn Center Plaza Mr Gorman made arrangements to have a special board meeting the next day, Sunday June 21st. The topic before the board, the filing of a petition for reorganization under Section 77 of the Bankruptcy Act.

Man, there is a lot of work involved in this series...and all of it under the shadow of the PC bankruptcy! Crews are obviously applying themselves despite the bad news though. In our HO world this is still a time of optimism as new businesses like City Pallet are being served by rail!

These crews are going non-stop today! R.M.O. Electric will be needing the coal as soon as it arrives. That new PC caboose looks great. The Patti-O Paint Shop did an outstanding job – as usual!
