Penn Central Car Movements #74 / NYCTL Part 4 / The Inbound Cycle begins

Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #74!!

Today we open up the inbound weekend of the three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division, Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and the introduction of a new freight train to the N.Y.C.T.L. line up.

FAST 50 is a Ford Auto Service Train running from Selkirk to Terminal Yard carrying auto parts for the nearby Bedford Park Ford Plant. Auto parts suppliers ACME in Mayfield NY and IDEAL in Rock Ridge NJ are the primary shippers.

The newest freight train on the Hudson Division, FAST 50, thunders over the Empire City viaduct on its way from Selkirk to Terminal Yard.

FAST 50 roars past Bedford Station

FAST 50 arrives at Terminal Yard behind three GP40s.
The engines have cut off from the train and ease into the fuel rack.
The Yard Job gets right to work on the FAST 50 freight consist.
Three 60' boxcars from ACME Auto Parts and an LV boxcar with car batteries from Delco are shoved into track #3.
The first four car block from IDEAL is shoved into track #4.
The second four car block from IDEAL is shoved into track #4.
While FAST 50 gets worked on 1/87th scale engineer Robert R reports for duty at Bedford Park Yard which serves the Ford Plant in the background.
The Bedford Park Yard (B.P.Y.) Switcher gets right to work pulling empties from the Ford Plant.
Leaving Bedford Park as Train BP-12 1/87th scale Robert R brings the empties towards Terminal Yard.
 BP-12 arrives at Terminal Yard.
1/87th scale Robert R quickly couples up to a four car block from IDEAL Auto Parts and prepares to head back to Bedford Park as Train BP-41.
 BP-41 heads thru Bedford NY.
1/87th scale Robert R brings BP-41 back into the friendly confines of Bedford Park passing Bedford Tower.
After a run around move in the tight Bedford Park Yard the Alco S4 is now in position to start delivering the cars to the Ford Plant.
AP 86035, PRR 125291 and EBRR 503827 get spotted at the Ford Plant.
EBRR 608279 is spotted in the yard as 1/87th scale Robert R departs for Terminal Yard with a block of freight cars from the other Bedford Park industries.
Train BP-12A rolls towards Terminal Yard.
BP-12A arrives at Terminal Yard.
We'll close it out here for today as the Yard Job quickly pulled the inbound cars from the Alco S4 and with 1/87th scale Robert R coupled up to a block of 60' auto parts cars from ACME in Mayfield NY and an LV boxcar loaded with Delco car batteries.
We'll pick it up tomorrow with Train BP-41A rolling back to Bedford Park to service the Ford Plant and the arrival of Train TY-2 from Selkirk.
Be sure to catch the action on
1:1 PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and
1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

The FAST 50 is based on the prototypical Ford Fast that ran on several railroads to Milpitas, CA from Detroit.

In addition to the auto parts cars the FAST 50 may also have the TOFC cars from West Mill in future P.C.C.M.s. This was a prototypical move on some of the DRGW Ford Fast Trains.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Fast 50 lives on! The auto parts cars from both West Mill and Rock Ridge steal the show! The crew on the Alco S4 is getting those cars spotted rather quickly and efficiently. Robert R. is getting into the routine as well, nice to see him in action.

Looking forward to the next part and the interesting facts you present to us regarding PC trains!

Acknowledge the FAST 50 arriving at Terminal Yard, and the dispatch of trains BP-12/BP-41 and BP-12A.

    West Mill out.

I LIKE the FAST 50! Its a concept that works well with the auto plant traffic in the virtual ops. Very cool to integrate a prototypical operation this way! Great quick turnaround in getting the cars to Ford via the transfer runs from Bedford Park!
