Penn Central Car Movements #74 / NYCTL Part 6 / Train EC-1 and the Empire Belt RR Takeover

Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #74!!

The three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and
Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.
continues today.

1/87th scale Alco Joe and Conductor Murray are called for Train EC-1, a daily transfer run from Terminal Yard to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard consisting of freight cars for Empire City industries and cars for interchange with the Long Island Railroad.

EC-1 rolls thru Bedford

EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard.
1/87th scale Alco Joe is greeted by the Empire Belt trainmen.
1/87th scale conductor Murray assists in the reclaiming of his transfer caboose and LV boxcar #66392 which is making it's first virtual ops revenue run.
Heading out of the yard with LV 66392 behind the caboose for easy drop off at the Bedford Park Yard lead
LV boxcar 66392 loaded with bagged cement from Boom's Ready Mix is dropped on the Bedford Park Yard lead for delivery to American Hardware Supply as conductor Murray waves goodbye.
1/87th scale Alco Joe brings the EC-1 engines and caboose back into Terminal Yard.
1/87th scale Robert R spots the LV 662392 at American Hardware Supply.
Over at Terminal Yard 1/87th scale PC Ralph, senior engineer Sir Neal and conductor John formulate their game plan.
After a couple of hours blocking the inbound cars from EC-1 the Morning Industrial Job is ready to go on track #3 while cars for interchange with the LIRR sit on track #1.
1/87th scale PC Ralph brings the M.I.J. onto the industrial running track. B&M 50' RBLs 105, 109 & 110 loaded with soup and canned goods from Habitant Soup are sitting on yard track 1 constructively placed awaiting notification from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse that have unloaded the three boxcars that are on their way in the M.I.J.
First stop is Gervais Pipe to pull P&LE and EBRR gondolas loaded with pipe for the Hudson Valley Ag Coop via the KP&W's Williams Yard.
Next move is to spot these three boxcars at Ralph's Grocery Warehouse. PC 229046 is loaded with cake mix from Blue Ribbon Flour, RI 35062 is loaded with grocery products from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse in Davenport Iowa and PC 360063 is loaded with packaged meals from Cavendish Fine Foods.
A pair of Evans coil coaches loaded with steel coils are spotted at Gervais Pipe & Fitting completing the work on the east side.
The M.I.J. GP30s  are now shoving back into the midtown siding.
Beings spotted at Empire Produce is BAR 5226 loaded with Blueberries from Circle B Farms in Caribou Maine and LV 7120 loaded with fresh produce from Tarantino Foods in Buffalo NY.
1/87th scale PC Ralph has the M.I.J back together and starts heading west.
The M.I.J comes over the Empire City viaduct
After several moves PC 104478 loaded with new 55 gal drums from A.C.C.O. is spotted at Drywell Inks.
The west side work is done and the M.I.J heads for home.
We'll cut it here for today with 1/87th scale PC Ralph bringing the Morning Industrial Job back into North Side Yard.
We'll pick it up tomorrow with a short blog post featuring the L.I.R.R. transfer run and close it out with the dispatch of Extra 6109 from Terminal Yard.

Be sure to follow the action on
1:1 scale PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and
1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

EC-1 and the U-Boats thru Bedford Yard look very impressive with all that horsepower! I like the look of the new LV box car. That green looks like an REA green? The EB Geeps are also very impressive to see. Lots of freight moving thru the area. I am impressed with your structure Empire Produce. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen it and the detail on the building. Nice!

    1. 10-4 Rock Ridge... Thank you for the compliments Sir Neal. The LV started painting their rolling stock and cabooses in their parent PC green color. The LV had been owned by the PRR and now it was owned by the PC.

    West Mill out.

That was an unusually long train with cars to be transferred to the LIRR! Like Neal I was impressed by the power on Ec-1! I like the E.B.R.R. takeover in this op and the twin GP30s look good on the MIJ. I especially like the photo of them under the overpass. Neat one car move with LV 66392! The new bagged loads for the EL boxcar look great!
