Welcome to the P.C.C.M. 65 series!!!
As the interim senior conductor in charge 1/87th scale PC Ralph and his trusty conductor/brakeman will be working North Side Yard and the Morning Industrial Job using the GP9m-FB-GP9m lash up normally assigned to senior engineer Sir Neal.
This will be a two layout virtual op between my NYCTL and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division. Brian's Ralston Creek Railroad and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad were unavailable so I built in the below scenario for my portion of the virtual ops.
A Penn Central derailment between Weehawken and Rock Ridge has closed the line for P.C.C.M. 65. 1/87th scale Sir Neal has headed over to Rock Ridge Yard to oversee the clean up efforts from that direction while the PC works out of Weehawken to get the line open for P.C.C.M. 66. 1/87th scale PC Ralph has assumed yardmaster and senior engineer duties at North Side Yard.
Selkirk has notified Terminal Yard to embargo all cars currently in Terminal Yard for Rock Ridge Yard.
Terminal Yard has notified the Empire Belt RR it will only accept and store Penn Central cars destined for Rock Ridge to avoid paying a storage fee. No foreign road cars for Rock Ridge however will be accepted.
Freight cars going to Brian's R.C.R. are currently on Penn Central rails. They will be forwarded to Elkhart and held there until the next P.C.C.M.

We open our outbound segments at the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard located in Empire City NY. "You got it Ralph" says 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal as he prepares for departure to the A.P.R.R.s Rock Ridge Yard in New Jersey. 1/87th scale Sir Neal needs to oversee clean up efforts on the Penn Central line from Rock Ridge to Weehawken that is blocked by a Penn Central derailment.
The guys get right to it as there is a lot of work to be done like pulling these EBRR reefers from the EBRR transfer to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard. The cars are loaded with non perishable food stuff from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
The EBRR reefers will be held at North Side Yard until further notice. Remember the Penn Central has notified the Empire Belt that they will not be accepting any foreign road cars for Rock Ridge Yard until the line is cleared. Ugh...
With the yard in order the Morning Industrial Job begins its work crossing over to the Empire City industrial running track with four cars for local consignees.
First stop is Gervais Pipe to pick up this trio of gondolas from the APRR and EBRR loaded with steel pipe for Shapeless Steel via Rock Ridge Yard. Great...
Next move is pulling three empty PC and three empty APRR covered hoppers from Empire City Cargill to go back to the large Rock Ridge Cargill facility for reloading. C'mon Man.....
Gondolas KP&W #2140 and MCRR #350623 are now spotted at Gervais Pipe and Cargill covered hopper TDLX #7241 is spotted at Cargill for their next PCCM loads.
With the six covered hoppers, three gondolas and one boxcar in tow 1/87th scale PC Ralph brings the Morning Industrial Job toward the west side of Empire City.
Now working the west side industries the MIJ picks up EL boxcar #73510 loaded with burlap bags for Boom's Ready Mix in Kings Port NY from Moore & Company.
The MIJ shoves back to Drywell Inks to pull empty NYC 50' boxcar #80775.
The MIJ is shoving back to Walsh Steel Wool Products.
TP&W #627 is pulled from Walsh Steel Wool with a load of steel wool mesh for Boom's Ready Mix in Kings Port NY.
Empty P&E #3638 is spotted at Drywell Inks for it's next PCCM load while a bar patron goes about his business next to the bar.
Empty NYC 50' boxcar #80775 is spotted at Moore & Company to receive it's next PCCM load.
Three empty APRR covered hoppers are shoved into the west side storage track to await the reopening of the line from Weehawken to the APRRs Rock Ridge Yard.
With the industrial switching done 1/87th scale PC Ralph brings the MIJ thru midtown has he heads back to North Side Yard.
The MIJ rolls into North Side Yard on track 2.
1/87th scale PC Ralph is busy organizing the yard and the outbound transfer train (EB-2) to Terminal Yard. Three EBRR reefers and three gons loaded with pipe will remain at North Side Yard until the PC line to Rock Ridge is cleared.
We'll cut it here for today with the EBRR men contemplating getting Train EB-2 to Terminal Yard.
Be sure to follow the action on 1:1 PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!
Thanks for reading!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Acknowledge work of the MIJ and the embargo of cars for Rock Ridge due to derailment south of Weehawken.
West Mill out.
Very creative scenario to explain the limited participation in this series! The derailment south of Rock Ridge is affecting things on the N.Y.C.T.L. but makes for interesting car movement decisions! The GP9m-FB-GP9m lashup on the MIJ continues to be a personal favorite of mine to railfan. Nice work on pick ups for the KPD and the set outs on the N.Y.C.T.L. for future P.C.C.M.s! I'm checking out the double caboose action near Walsh Steel Wool. The E.B.R.R. hacks sure look good! I'll be looking forward to the next installment with EB-2!
10-4 West Mill...
DeleteThank you for the compliments Ralph! The PC derailment scenario is working out well so far. The two EBRR cabooses on the storage track are what happens when you paint more cabooses than you need! So now they are surplus and stored serviceable in full view to remind me I don't need any more EBRR cabooses.

Update - It looks like the track work has been torn up and will need the crews to work around the clock. We will advise when shipments can proceed to Rock Ridge Yard.
Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Nice work on the story line and the APRR thanks you for storing all of the PC cars in the N.Y.C.T.L. yards throughout Empire City.
FYI - The A.P.R.R. will be billing the PC for time and materials as they will be assisting the PC crew doing the work. Let's hope they can collect on the invoice or they may have to barter some freight cars in lieu of payment!!

Acknowledge derailment cleanup update.
Thank you for the information. We are hoping with the APRR crew assisting in the cleanup that the line will be open soon. The 1/87th scale trainmen of the Empire Belt RR wish the APRR accountants the best of luck in collecting payment for the labor and materials invoice. Should you collect please advise us right away as we have multiple unpaid invoices awaiting payments.
