Penn Central Car Movements #98 Part 5 / Local Penn Central Trains Deliver

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #98!!!

Our two layout virtual op with my NYCTL layout interchanging HO scale freight traffic with Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today with local Penn Central trains delivering the PCCM freight traffic from Selkirk.

The action opens up today with Extra 1644 East passing Bedford Tower.

Extra 1644 East heads thru Bedford towards Terminal Yard.

The caboose track is refilled.

The much needed power arrives in the engine terminal. Engine hostler Wet Willie is already sweating about having to break apart the consist to power the road freights.

It's time to check in with the Bedford Park Yard Job. Engineer Robert R is hard at work pulling two C&O boxcars from American Hardware.

The BPY job pulls four empty 60' NYC boxcars from the Ford Plant.

Robert R brings the BPY out to Bedford Tower and is cleared to head to Terminal Yard and Train BP-12.

Train BP-12 heads to Terminal Yard.

The BP-12 arrives in Terminal Yard.

The Terminal Yard yard job is out to grab the BP-12 freight consist off of the BP-12 ex NYC S4.

Robert R couples up to a block of hot freight cars for the Bedford Park Ford Plant and a warm boxcar for American Hardware Supply. He'll be taking the cars back to Bedford Park as Train BP-41.

Train BP-41 departs Terminal Yard.

The BP-41 arrives back at Bedford Park.

After a runaround move Robert R is ready to start delivering the freight cars.

Lehigh Valley boxcar #66392 loaded with bagged cement from Westcott Concrete in Lakeport, NH is placed at American Hardware Supply.

Three hot 60' boxcars of auto parts from ACME Auto Parts in Mayfield, NY are shoved into the Ford Plant siding averting an assembly line shutdown

Robert R ties down the locomotive and caboose in the yard and heads to the office to get his next switch list.

Back at Terminal Yard the Bedford Turn, Train BT-27, departs.

Train BT-27 heads to Bedford.

The BT-27 shoves into the Hostess siding to perform some non PCCM switch work.

With the non PCCM work completed the BT-27 is taking care of the PCCM  work. A B&M boxcar gets pulled from Neubaum's Coffee & Tea Imports.

Empty BAR boxcar #5226 is spotted at Neubaum's for its next PCCM load.

There's something we don't often see!!! The motive power shortage and no outbound trains has allowed the BT-27 power to be quickly cleared to enter the mainline and make its reverse move.

The Alco RS11 has coupled onto the headend, pumped up the air and is ready to head back to Terminal Yard as Train BT-28.

The BT-28 heads back to Terminal Yard.

We'll cut it here for today with the BT-28 arriving back in Terminal Yard.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with PC Train EC-1 making a transfer run to North Side Yard in Empire City to interchange freight traffic with the Empire Belt RR.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!!!

A rare power shortage at Terminal Yard necessitates the cool Extra 164 with its combination of locomotives and cabooses. I enjoyed that move! I seemed to notice the "non-player" rolling stock in particular during the Bedford Park Job and the Bedford Turn's run. Nice looking 60 ft. NYC and C&O cars, the Harbor Belt coil car, the NH 50footer, the interesting NYMX refrigerator unit, the B&M boxcar with its wild logo, etc.! Auto parts traffic are often "hot cars" on the BP-41 but I liked the "warm car" reference to the LV boxcar for American Hardware Supply! No waiting for BT-27 but we spoke to soon for BT-28! Nice to see the FP7/F7B/FP7 consist run one more time!

Thanks Ralph!!! Glad you enjoyed not only the PCCM traffic but the non player cars as well. The McGuinness B&M car and BAR car made for a very colorful photo! I'm glad you liked the warm car reference LV boxcar!
The FP7-F7B-FP7 were much needed power for the heavy grain train as the foreman of engines works thru the shortage of available power in his stable. A first!!! It added some operational interest with the extra though.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

That was a lot of much needed motive power that was delivered to Terminal Yard. Wet Willie will need to keep a better eye on his engines to make sure he’s never short to deliver freight to the Empire City business. I like that the locals servicing the industries have a few freight cars on them as it makes a local move look realistic. Nice to see some non PCCM moves as well as a random local commuter train. Just like the real railroads!

    Very enjoyable Sir John!

PS. Glad you like to see 1:87 Sir Neal travels!

Thank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!! The guys appreciate 1:87 Sir Neal keeping in contact with them and sharing his vacation destinations. The power shortage was an ops twist that came about from a real power situation after the Holiday trackage rights. I ran the heck out of several engines and they were all in need of lubrication at the time I was putting this op together so I went with it. Glad you enjoyed all the trains!!
