Greetings All,
Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #98!!!
The two layout virtual op with my NYCTL layout interchanging HO scale freight traffic with Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today with the Empire Belt RR making its 2023 PCCM debut.
Yesterday we saw Penn Central Train EC-1 leaving Terminal Yard for the EBRRs North Side Yard in Empire City.
Train EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard
Alco Joe and Conductor Murray check in with the EBRR trainmen and ask where is Senior Engineer Sir Neal. The EBRR guys tell the PC guys that Sir Neal is on vacation and will return in the next virtual op well rested and well tanned.
Alco Joe and Conductor Murray head back to Terminal Yard caboose light as Train EC-2.
It's time for the EBRR guys to get to work. PC Ralph is at the throttle of GP30 #2160, conductor John will handle the waybills from the comfort of his caboose and Rocky will perform the brakeman duties.
The Belt Job has shoved out of North Side Yard and crosses onto the Belt Line to work the local industries.
The first move is working the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding to pull three empty PCCM boxcars.
The Belt Job couples up to two SRR bulkhead flatcars at Empire City Caterpillar. The heavy rental equipment is heading to the Hudson Valley Co Op via the KP&W's Williams Yard.
Empty BAR boxcar #5226 gets pulled from Empire Produce.
With the work completed in midtown the Belt Job heads west.
Brakeman Rocky, dressed in what will later become known as Rock Island "Bankruptcy Blue" protects the shove move riding the tank car into the west side industrial complex.
The Belt Job shoves further into the west side to access the Reliable Machine Company siding.
The Belt Job is now at Reliable Machine Company pulling EBRR boxcar #360279 loaded with cardboard processing machines for International Paper in Binghamton, NY.
The west side work is completed and the Belt Job gets ready to head back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job rolls thru midtown.
PC Ralph and the Belt Job arrive back at North Side Yard.
After getting the waybills and empty boxcar requests sorted out HRC #5915 and P&E #3638 are spotted for cleaning prior to being delivered to local industries for their next PCCM loads
Two non PCCM cars are coupled onto the head end of the freight consist that will be picked up by the LIRR.
PC Ralph couples up to the outbound traffic going to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard as Train EB-2.
Train EB-2 passes thru Bedford.
The Kar Trak reader records the EB-2 arrival at Terminal Yard.
A commuter trains heads to East Bedford Station as the EBRR guys talk it over with the PC yard crew and answer the big question, "where is Sir Neal?"
The EBRR crew heads back to North Side Yard.
We'll cut it here for today at North Side Yard with PC Ralph and the crew getting the yard ready for the pending arrival of Long Island RR Train MA-3. We'll pick it up tomorrow with LIRR Train MA-3 and the C420s making their PCCM debut.
Another postcard from 1:87 Scale Senior Engineer Sir Neal!!

Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Lots of freight being delivered around Empire City. I see a new person, ‘Rocky Blue’ on the scene as a new crew member. Also seeing some Route Rock trucks standing out around Empire City. The local action seems to be moving flawlessly, as always.
Maybe an APB should be put out for Sir Neal? I’m sure the ECPD would put their best man on the job….
Looking forward to the next part!
Excellent job Sir John!

DeleteThank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!! Rocky Blue and PC Ralph make a good team and 1:1 PC Ralph is a Rock Island fan. By all accounts 1:87 Sir Neal is traveling the country with Mrs.1:87 Sir Neal and enjoying himself immensely. All of the guys are looking forward to his return.

Following the car forwarding between the PC and the Empire Belt is always one of the pleasures of watching PCCM ops on the N.Y.C.T.L.! What's that?! An FA sandwiched between the EBRR GP30s this time?! Good thing Emory was there to photo-document this consist! Rocky wears overalls the shade of what would later be known as "Bankruptcy Blue" and then we see a Rock Island truck on the over pass as EB-2 approaches Terminal Yard! Railroaders in Empire City are all wondering about Sir Neal! It looks like he's keeping in touch with cool post cards while he is away! We wish him a terrific break and look forward to seeing him again! Meanwhile kudos to the North Side EBRR crew for a big job well today!

DeleteThanks for the compliments Ralph!!! The Ralph Island was on full display today! The EBRR GP30-FA-GP30 consist ran well and I liked the way it looked also.
1:87 Sir Neal's postcards are a nice way for him to keep in touch until he returns from his vacation.
