Greetings All,
Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #96!!!
Our 96th virtual op with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR interchanging freight cars with my New York Central Layout continues today.
We open in Empire City with Long Island RR Train MA-3 bringing PCCM freight cars towards North Side Yard for interchange with the Empire Belt RR.
The EBRR trainmen are out to inspect the incoming train. Check out today's Empire Belt motive power!
LIRR Train MA-3 arrives in North Side Yard.
LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco has coupled up to the freight cars going back to Fresh Pond Yard and stops to talk with the EBRR guys.
Jimmy Alco has reclaimed his caboose and heads back towards Fresh Pond Yard as Train MA-4.
Train MA-4 heads for home.
A few hours later PC Ralph has the yard organized as senior engineer Sir Neal gets ready to depart with the Belt Job in FA1 #1035.Sir Neal brings the train onto the Belt Line as we get a good view of three gondolas of scrap metal from Gershow Recycling heading to Kings Port Steel.
The Belt Job is pulling covered hoppers from Cargill as PC Ralph protects the street crossing. The Cargill covered hopper is loaded with barley for Cavendish Food & Spirits in Mayfield NY.
Two gondolas of pipe for Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge NJ get pulled from Gervais Pipe & Fitting.
Four empty PCCM boxcars get pulled from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse for movement to industries for their next PCCM loads. PC Ralph is once again guarding the crossing. Conductor John? He's probably grabbing a couple of slices at Pizza Land.
The Belt Job is now working the midtown industries and pulling this PCCM NYC Early Bird boxcar from Prestage Gear loaded with gears for Laroche Cycle in West Mill NY.
Next move is to pull empty PCCM LV Reefer #7120 from Empire Produce for return to the Lehigh Valley RR at Buffalo NY.
The Belt Job heads west crossing Hohman Ave.
The Belt Job starts working the west side industries at Superior Furniture. Two PCCM PC boxcars loaded with furniture are getting pulled. PC #360158 is heading to Battaglia Brothers Warehouse in Kings Port NY. PC #142770 is heading to Three Amigos Warehouse in Rock Ridge NJ.
PCCM NYC boxcar #80775 gets pulled from Reliable Machine Company loaded with parts for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY.
The Belt Job is still busy on the west side and pulls this PCCM NYC Pacemaker car from Moore & Company loaded with burlap bags for Agway in Bloomberg NY.
Now working at City Pallet the Belt Job pulls PCCM PC boxcar #77047 loaded with pallets for Woodstock Hills All Natural Soda in Bloomberg, NY.
Two empty PCCM SRR bulkhead flats are also pulled from City Pallet for movement to their next PCCM loads.Sir Neal has the Belt Job back together and gets ready to return to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job heads for home.
Sir Neal brings the Belt Job into North Side Yard.
A few hours later Empire Belt Train EB-2 is ready to depart for Terminal Yard with PC Ralph at the throttle of FA1 #1032.
Train EB-2 rumbles towards Terminal Yard.
PC Ralph brings the EBRR FA1-FB1-GP18 consist and Train EB-2 into Terminal Yard as PC employees and railfans check out the rare consist. Don't worry about the Kings Port Railway Society guys in the blue and white VW they only received a verbal warning to slow down when chasing trains thru the area.
We'll cut it here for today with PC Ralph heading back to North Side Yard caboose light.
We pick it up tomorrow in Terminal Yard, make our final moves and get our outbound trains dispatched.
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

This great post was a nice illustration of the connections and interchanges between railroads that move cars across the region! LIRR to EBRR to PC! Our car forwarding schedule has set the occasion for long trains filled with PCCM cars on the N.Y.C.T.L. in this series! I noticed several cars that will soon be arriving at West Mill on my layout. Terrific debut run- by of the new uniquely painted Amtrak E8! I was lulled by the slowmoving EB-2 only to enjoy the excitement of the highballing passenger train with that neat loco on the head end! Ah! The guys of the KPRS get pulled over (again!) for pushing the speed limits while chasing trains. I can't blame them for being eager to catch today's action in Empire City!

DeleteThank you very much Ralph!!
I'd be speeding too to catch some of today's motive power!

A lot of action going on at North Side Yard with the LIRR. Those LIRR RS units are always one of my favorites on your railroad. A nice touch adding the new Amtrak E8 #4316 to debut on the railroad. It’s a shame they did away with them early on in Amtrak.
I hope the LPRS crew heeds the warning as they not know who trained the ECPD officers ( We know who) to be so lenient with the boys…
Great work Sir John!

DeleteThank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!!
The ECPD guys are railfans and understand what it is to chase a train, They have the advantage of doing so with lights and siren!
