Penn Central Car Movements #101 Part 2 / The Empire Belt Moves the Tonnage!!

  Greetings All,

Welcome Back to Penn Central Car Movements #101!!!

Our three layout virtual op with my NYCTL interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today with an LIRR-EBRR interchange and the EBRR moving the tonnage.

Long Island RR Train MA-3 from Fresh Pond Yard rolls thru Bedford with twelve PCCM freight cars to interchange with the Empire Belt RR at North Side Yard in Empire City.
Train MA-3 rolls past Bedford Station.
The EBRR trainmen are out to inspect the MA-3 and admire the Alco C420s as they arrive in North Side Yard.
LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco checks in with EBRR engineers senior engineer Sir Neal and PC Ralph.
Conductor John with waybills in hand and brakeman Rocky look on as LIRR train MA-4 couples up to its caboose and prepares to head back to Fresh Pond Yard.
Train MA-4 heads back to Fresh Pond Yard
Next stop Fresh Pond!!!
A few hours later conductor John has the drill lists ready for the EBRR trainmen to begin their work.
Senior engineer Sir Neal has rearranged the EBRR SDP40s so the 6502 is in the lead as requested by local railfans and will handle the yard duties while PC Ralph will be working the Belt Job with the U23Cs. Checkout the new EBRR employee shuttle.
The Belt Job crosses onto the Belt Line.
First stop for the Belt Job is to pull a string of loaded hoppers from Cargill that include EBRR 82741 and 82746 loaded with wheat flour for Freihoffer's Bakery in Rock Ridge NJ.
Next move is to pull four APRR gondolas loaded with pipe from Gervais Pipe and Fitting that are consigned to Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge, NJ.
Also being pulled from Gervais are MCRR 35062 and KPW 2140 loaded with pipe for the Hudson Valley Ag Coop.
Three empty B&M RBLs get pulled from the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding for movement back to the B&M.
A short time later the Belt Job is working Red Wing Millings pulling NYC 892010 loaded with flour for Freihoffers Bakery in Rock Ridge NJ.

The Belt Job heads west passing Hohman Ave. tower.
Now working the west side industrial complex a loaded non PCCM PLE boxcar gets shoved toward the Superior Furniture / Reliable Machine Company siding.
Being pulled from Reliable Machine Co is EBRR 360279 loaded with cutting machines for International Paper in Binghamton, NY.
NYC Early Bird and TPW 627 boxcars loaded with steel wool for Boom's Ready Mix in West Mill, NY get pulled from Walsh Steel Wool Products.
Empty PC boxcar 142770 gets pulled from City Pallet for its next PCCM load.
Empty LV and NYC boxcars get pulled from Drywell Inks. The LV car will be returning to the LV for its next PCCM loading and the NYC car will be held for local PCCM loading.
Empty Rock Island boxcar 35062 gets shoved into the Drywell Inks siding for its next PCCM load.
Empty IC boxcar #30130 is spotted at City Pallet for its next PCCM load.
Empty EBRR boxcar #358160 is placed on the west side storage track for later movement to Reliable Machine Company for its next PCCM load.
PC Ralph gets the Belt Job ready to head back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job heads back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job is back at North Side Yard and the guys plan their next moves.
Empty NYC 80755 and two empty home road cars are held for local loading.
Senior Engineer Sir Neal couples the trio of SDP40s onto the head end of train EB-2 that will take todays outbound freight traffic to Terminal Yard.
Train EB-2 gets cleared past the Hohman Ave Tower.
Train EB-2 rattles the windows as it rumbles thru Bedford towards Terminal Yard.
Train EB-2 brings fifty freight cars into Terminal Yard. 50 cars!!! The SDP40s have earned their keep today!!!

We'll close it here for today with Sir Neal coupled up to his caboose and heading back to North Side Yard.
We'll pick it up tomorrow at a clogged Terminal Yard, make our final moves and dispatch the outbound trains.
Be sure to catch all of the PCCM 101 action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

Compilation of todays trains on the move.
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

Wow! It is time to cue up the Doobie Brother's "Long Train Running" as prototypical lengthy trains arrive at and leave North Side Yard! I ordered a pizza when EB-2's power was first seen at Bedford and it arrived just when the caboose went by. :) Seriously, that was amazing! I join the EBRR crew n admiring the LIRR C420s and the NH SDP40! The guys at North Side ride around in style whether its in their own flashy automobile line up seen at the Yard Office or in the new crew shuttle! Great stuff John!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Wow! Just as I was enjoying train MA-3 rolling thru Bedford with a pair of Alco C420’s, the meet with the Bedford Park train working the Ford Plant stole the show. Great capture!! Great to see the NH SDP40 ready for action in North Side Yard. I think that’s a first that I’ve seen a 50 car train on the NYCTL!! The crews on the Belt Line did a great job of pulling cars today.

Looking forward to the next set of moves!

Thank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!! I think the 50 car EB-2 was the longest train I've run in the PCCMs. The previous record was 35 cars. Common denominator: 1:87 senior engineer Sir Neal was at the throttle of both!!!
