Greetings All,
Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #101!!!
PCCM 101 will be another three layout virtual op with my NYCTL interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division as we begin the march to PCCM #200!!
The action starts at Terminal Yard with Train MR-1 ready to depart for T&R Gravel and Hudson Coal.
The MR-1 gets busy right away pulling boxcars loaded with bagged iron ore from T&R Gravel.
The bagged iron ore in NYC 47062 and EL73510 will be forwarded to Port Owen Brick in Port Owen, NY. The boxcars are temporarily placed at Hudson Coal so the ore hoppers can be spotted at T&R gravel for unloading.
After delivering the ore cars the MR-1 is now pulling loaded coal hoppers for RMO Electric in Rock Ridge, NJ from Hudson Coal.
Train MR-1 makes the long pull from Hudson Coal down the Bedford Secondary Track.

The MR-1 holds at Bedford Station for Hotshot Train FAST 50 from Selkirk heading to Terminal Yard.
The FAST 50 (Ford Auto Service Train) rumbles down the main with high priority traffic for the Bedford Park Ford Plant.
With the mainline clear the MR-1 gets clearance to perform its runaround move.
The MR-1 empty hoppers are shoved to Hudson Coal.
The empties are spotted and we'll be back before long to pull another set of loaded hoppers as the coal demand is high.
The trio of ex NYC GP7s have coupled up their train and prepare to head back to Terminal Yard as Train MR-2
Train MR-2 holds for symbol freight SLX-1 from Terminal Yard to Selkirk. Once the SLX-1 clears the mainline the MR-2 will head back to Terminal Yard.

With the FAST 50 in the yard and inspected engineer Robert R has been called for Train BP-12 that works out of Bedford Park Yard serving the Bedford Park Ford Plant and other local industries.
Robert R works the Ford siding pulling a cut of empties that includes empty LV boxcar #8247 assigned to the C&O at Flint, MI for Delco Battery pool service.

MR-1 was a nice long train and a pleasure to watch roll by! Its cut of empty hoppers filled the sidings at Hudson Coal!
The string of auto industry related cars on the Fast 50 was cool to watch as it met MR-1. The BP-12/ BP-41 quick turnaround is a favorite move to follow and once again illustrates the importance of auto industry related traffic on the N.Y.C.T.L., sometimes requiring hot moves.
Nicely executed meets between MR-2 and SKLX-1 and BP-41 and VN-4!

DeleteThank you very much Ralph!!! Traffic is heavy in PCCM 101 and their will be many challenges coming up!
A nice kickoff to the triple digit PCCM series. Some great looking action on the layout. I really enjoy seeing your trio of Geeps working the coal job! The mixed varnish was a nice touch as well 😎🚂
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Brian!!!

Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Nice start to #101! The coal drag from Terminal Yard is very nice to see. I think this is the first that I have seen the ore cars at T&R Gravel. The Bedford Park turn with Ford has lots of action and plenty of cars to go on those auto racks, which are very nice looking! Always good to see a passenger train run during those moves.
Excellent work Sir John!!

DeleteThank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!!! Every now and then T&R Gravel receives some ore cars with iron ore that is unloaded and bagged up for several customers including PCCM customer Port Owen Brick.
