Penn Central Car Movements #85 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / Trains BT-27, VN-4 and TE-16

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #85!!!

The inbound portions of this virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight trains with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR continues today.

We open up today at the Penn Central Terminal Yard with Alco Joe getting called for the Bedford Turn, Train BT-27. Engine hostler Wet Willie has given the BT-27 three Alco Centuries which will definitely be needed.

Watch the BT-27 work T&R Gravel and putting the three Alcos to good use.

EL boxcar #73510 is spotted for it's next PCCM load of bagged iron ore that will go to Port Owen Brick in a future PCCM.

Four Penn Central PS2 hoppers are spotted for PCCM loads of locomotive sand for the Richmond Hill Engine Terminal that services the APRR motive power fleet.

Alco Joe brings the BT-27 towards the industrial siding switch.

After making a long pull out of the siding Lehigh Valley / NIRX boxcar #41000 and PC boxcar #229036 are spotted at Berk Enterprises. The LV car is loaded with adhesive backed paper from International Paper and the PC car is spotted for its next PCCM load.

AP Boxcar #58279 is spotted back at Hostess for continued PCCM loading.

Alco Joe waits on the Bedford Secondary to make his runaround move.

The reason for the hold is Train VN-4 heading to Terminal Yard.

Alco Joe has the Bedford Turn back together on the secondary track.

However the Bedford Turn is held again for Train TE-16 bringing PCCM freight cars from Selkirk to Terminal Yard.

Train TE-16 and BT-27 arrive in Terminal Yard.

The cabooses from the inbound trains are gathered.

Big Mike shoves into the Caboose track to pull a ready caboose. Note 1 of 2 PC gons have received their next PCCM scrap loads.

PC caboose #18417 is tacked onto what will become Train EC-1, a daily transfer to the Empire Belt's North Side Yard in Empire City.

PCCM cars from Terminal Yard going to Empire City industries get coupled onto the freight cars from TE-16 to make Train EC-1.

Engine hostler Wet Willie with a bunch of Alcos now in his stable gets a visit from Alco Joe imploring him to keep the units on hand until his next run.

The EC-1 power is coupled on. The red P GP30s are local favorites so Wet Willie is still in good standing with the area railfans.

Train EC-1 heads to Empire City

EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard

The caboose is retrieved and the EC-1 power departs.

We'll cut it here today with the GP30s running caboose lite to Terminal Yard.

We'll turn it over to the Empire Belt RR crew tomorrow to get these freight cars delivered to their respective consignees..

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

This installment is packed with great motive power selections and train meets! Alco Centuries, the Red P GP 30s, etc.! There is plenty of roll by action as well as all of the sets outs such as the work at T&R Gravel that keep the virtual ops moving! The back to back arrivals of TE-16 and BT-27 reminded me of prototype video sequences I've seen of trains coming one after the other into Selkirk. Constant action with a PC era buffet of motive power kept me riveted!

Thank you very much for the compliments Ralph!!! I really liked the "PC era buffet of motive power" phrase. Glad you are enjoying these posts. They have been a lot fun to run and put together. Just like our virtual ops was designed to be!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

PC Alco’s, Geeps and F units dominate these moves! Bedford Yard has become THE SPOT to rail fan the railroad! I did like the moves BT-27 made to drop cars at T&R Gravel. Looked like a new train TE-16 was making its debut? I enjoyed Train TV-9 heading out as well. Of course, nice to see your RDC making a cameo! Very enjoyable post!

Thanks 1:1 Sir Neal!!! Good eye on the TE-16 which ran pure with cars to be interchanged with the EBRR. This was its debut and it may continue as traffic warrants. Gotta get the RDC into the mix!!!
