Penn Central Car Movements #82 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / The Inbound Cycle Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #82!!!

The inbound portion of our three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR starts today with the arrival of our inbound trains.

We open up in Empire City and catch Train TY-2 entering the High Line on it's way to Terminal Yard.

TY-2 rumbles past Bedford Station

Train TY-2 brings freight cars from the APRR's Rock Ridge Yard into Terminal Yard track #2.

About 30 minutes later Train TY-4 comes thru Empire City with freight cars from the Kings Port Division West Mill Yard.

TY-4 passes Bedford Station

Train TY-4 arrives at Terminal Yard and rolls into track #4.

Inbound trains TY-2 and TY-4 along with a block of cars left in the yard from the outbound portion of PCCM 82  now need to be classified and blocked.

Kar Knocker is out to inspect the inbound trains as Big Mike pulls off the cabooses.

The cabooses are spotted on the caboose track.

The yard job is working on the TY-2 freight consist after it was cleared by Kar Knocker.

Empty PC and KP&W PS2 covered hoppers that were left in the yard for movement to T&R Gravel are coupled up to four APRR ballast hoppers going also going to T&R Gravel.

Big Mike starts making up today's combined Coal Job / Mine Run (Train MR-1) and couples up the ballast hoppers to six empty coal hoppers from RMO Electric that will be heading to Hudson Coal.

The yard job holds on track #7 with a trio of boxcars going to Terminal Warehouse as TY-2's power heads to the engine terminal.

With the power out of the way the yard job gets busy building Train EC-1 that will take cars to Empire City for interchange with the Empire Belt RR and Long Island RR. The LV boxcar will be going to Pilgrim State Hospital via the LIRR with a load of baked goods from Freihofer's Bakery in Rock Ridge NJ.

Kar Knocker has cleared Train TY-4 and Big Mike gets right to work on it. The Gulf tank cars are loaded with fuel from the Gulf River Facility in West Mill NY for the Bedford Park Ford Plant.

Six empty coal hoppers from Tri-Mount Cement are shoved into track #2 for movement to Hudson Coal for loading. This freed up the TY-4 power and the hostler is bringing it to the engine terminal.

A few hours later Big Mike has the yard in very good shape. Local trains from left to right are a short Bedford Turn Train BT-27, Bedford Park Train BP-41, EC-1 for Empire City and the combined Coal Job/Mine Run, Train MR-1, behind that. Big Mike is shoving the three boxcars up track #8 for delivery to Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage.

It's another long pull from the large warehouse. The EBRR boxcars are loaded with non perishable foods from ShopRite. The PC boxcar is loaded with used pallets from 3 Amigos Warehouse that were sold to Terminal Warehouse while enroute to City Pallet.

We'll cut it here today with the three loaded boxcars out of Rock Ridge Yard being spotted at their respective doors for unloading.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with Train BP-12 ready to leave Bedford Park for Terminal Yard.

Tomorrow we'll follow the Bedford Park Yard trains and Train MR-1 the combined Coal Job / Mine Run.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great inbound action! Both trains passing thru Bedford Park are a sight to see! Nice shot of the engine terminal that’s behind the caboose track. Looks like Big Mike has the yard under control. The NYC switcher handling the auto racks at the end is ready for action. Nice…!

Acknowledge arrival of trains TY-2 and TY-4 at Terminal Yard.

    West Mill out.

Trains are rolling into Terminal Yard and there is lot of work to do to break them up and assemble various locals. Nice organizational work setting up the Bedford Turn Train BT-27, Bedford Park Train BP-41, EC-1, and Train MR-1. I keep noticing those nice black NH coaches in the background! The huge Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage provides operational interest with all of its loading doors to be aware of! Nice opening of the "inbounds" installments!

Thanks Ralph!!! The NH train does make a nice backdrop! It is powered by an E8A-GP7 consist that mimics the E8A-GP9 consist we saw in a photo.
