Penn Central Car Movements #81 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 6 / PC Trains BT-27 and EC-1

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #81!!!

This virtual op is once again a three layout affair with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR. The inbound portion continues today.

We open up with Penn Central Train BT-27, the Bedford Turn, leaving Terminal Yard to work the Bedford industries.

The trio of GP7s have pulled an eight car block from BT-27 down Main 1 to clear the turnout into T&R Gravel and muscle the cars back up the grade.

Being spotted at T&R Gravel are empty EL boxcar #73510 and NYC boxcar #47062 for loads of bagged iron ore to be delivered to Port Owen Brick in a future PCCM.

Four empty PC PS-2 covered hoppers are spotted for loads of locomotive sand to be delivered to the APRR Richmond Hill Engine Terminal in a future PCCM.

Empty PRR and NYC hoppers are spotted for loads of ballast to be delivered to the Kings Port Division in a future PCCM.

The work at T&R Gravel completed the BT-27 is on the Bedford Secondary to work the local industries.

The BT-27 backs into the siding to make the long pull.

The siding now clear the loaded boxcars are pulled off the caboose. TPFX boxcar #5510 brings up the rear of a four car block for University Millwork

Three B&M RBLs loaded with veneers from Eastern States Plywood and TPFX #5510 loaded with wood products from Triangle Pacific are spotted at University Millwork.

PC boxcar #229036 loaded with bulk cardboard from International Paper is spotted at Berk Enterprises.

PC boxcar #360158 loaded with bagged flour from Blue Ribbon Flour is spotted at the Hostess Plant. This is a timely delivery as a broken processing machine left the Hostess covered hopper with flour from the Rock Ridge NJ Cargill unable to be unloaded. A new machine was delivered in that NYC boxcar and both cars should resume their PCCM cycles in the next PCCM.

Next stop for BT-27 is the Schaefer Brewery to pull a group of boxcars loaded with the most important flavor in this man's world.

Being spotted at Schaefer are TP&W boxcar #627 loaded with shipping boxes from Canton Box and empty IC boxcar #30130 and BAR boxcar #5226 for their next PCCM loads.

The switch work in Bedford completed the GP7s get held on the Bedford Secondary for this work train returning to Terminal Yard.

The work train is part of the metro division's community outreach program that hires teens to clear snow and ice from the stations and parking lots on Sundays so all is ready for the Monday morning commuters.

The work train has cleared the main and the GP7s make their runaround move.

The BT -27 is back together and ready to depart.

BT-27 returns to Terminal Yard.

Alco Joe brings the power for the final train of the day, Train EC-1, out of the engine terminal and heads towards its freight consist.

Train EC-1 heads out of Terminal Yard

EC-1 gets a highball at Bedford Tower.

EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard.

Alco Joe has turned the train over to the Empire Belt RR and chats with the Empire Belt trainmen as he reclaims his conductor and caboose. The consensus is this has been a heckuva virtual op!

We'll cut it here for today with Alco Joe heading back to Terminal Yard caboose lite.

We'll pick it up and close it out tomorrow with the Empire Belt RR making their deliveries and the interchange of freight cars with the Long Island RR.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Acknowledge dispatch of Bedford Turn BT-27, the meet with the Work Train, and dispatch of EC-1 to North Side Yard.

    West Mill out.

More long trains indicating how much traffic arrived on the N.Y.C.T.L. this series! Yard crews are are really stepping up and dealing with it like champs! The First Generation Geep trio consist on BT-27 is always a favorite of mine! Neat unusual meet with the work train and the community outreach program providing an interesting mix of passenger and freight equipment! The big lashup on EC-1 also has its fans here in West Mill! A heckuva virtual op indeed!

Thanks Ralph!!! It's been a great time running my portion of the op and I'm enjoying seeing all of the cars dispatched to the KPD move thru your layout.

The Metro Division is ahead of the curve on the community outreach program. If we get our young folks engaged with the RR maybe they'll seek jobs with it and be less likely to vandalize RR property. Might be working as there is little to no graffiti and no overt vandalism!
