Penn Central Car Movements #81 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 3 / Dispatch of Outbound Trains

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #81!!!

Follow along as the P.C.C.M's continue in their fifth year and the NYCTL continues to experience the caprice of the Rail Traffic Management Form firsthand!

This virtual op is once again a three layout affair with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR. Lets close out the outbound portion!

It's a mishegas Mike!!! Says Sup't I.D. Shore to the yard master and Big Mike who's working the yard job today. It's these EBRR guys dumping this big train on us. I called them and all they did was laugh about something called an RTMF caprice, whatever the heck that is.

Meeting over Big Mike gets to work with his U-Boats coupling up to yesterday's Coal Job. RTMF Caprice? What are these guys talking about? I thought Chevy made that car? Oh well that's mgmt for ya!

The coal hoppers are shoved into track #5 and will head out as Coal Extra #3007 later today. The two APRR and two EBRR boxcars on track #4 are loaded with beer from Schaefer and will head to C&P Restaurant Supply later today in Train SK-7.

The yard job starts working the long train from the Empire Belt RR that came in yesterday. The depressed PC flatcar will be handed off to the engine terminal switcher.

PC 766053 is pulled into the engine terminal for its next PCCM load.

The yard job is hard at work building outbound trains SK-7 with freight cars for the APRR on track #4, local PCCM cars on track #3 and SK-5 with freight cars for the KPD & KP&W on track #2.

A long cut of cars for industries within the yard limits rest on track #9 as Big Mike pulls another cut from the EB-2 train on track #8.

The classification work continues as we see an orange Hoschton Railway RBL going to Van Winkle Canning loaded with produce from Empire Produce shoved into track #2.

Two empty NYC 50' double door boxcars and a non PCCM EBRR loaded 50' boxcar get shoved up track #8. Over on track #2 we see one of two Gulf tank cars going back empty to the Gulf River Facility and an HR boxcar of Schaefer beer in the SK-5 freight consist.

The three cars are left outside of Bruce Electric Equipment for the Pier 16 Switcher to move into the B.E.E. siding to the left. The EL 57' reefer at door #4 in the background is loaded with frozen food for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ.

Big Mike stops at Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage to make a long pull. Empty PC Hi Cube #272747 will be needed at Bruce Electric and will be held in the yard for it's next PCCM load.

Three empty EBRR and three empty APRR 57' reefers are joined by empty PC boxcar #360508 and shoved into the Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage siding for their next PCCM loads.

Meanwhile the Pier 16 crew couples up to the cars going to Bruce Electric Equipment.

Pulled from the B.E.E. siding loaded with electrical components for IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ are three PC boxcars being grabbed now by Big Mike. The NYC 50' double door boxcars are now spotted for their next PCCM loads.

The PC cars are shoved into track #4 to join the rest of the freight cars in train SK-7. Now it's time to block our outbound trains.

Train SK-5 and SK-7 are blocked and ready. LV reefer 7120 is empty and will head back to Frontier Yard via the KP&W's LV connection. The Corning covered hopper is loaded with silica sand for Corning Glass.

The locomotives are coupled on and the trains are being prepared for departure. From left to right, PC GP40 #3007 will power Coal Extra 3007, a U28B and GP38 will handle Train SK-7 and an F7A - GP30 consist will haul Train SK-5.,

Train SK-5 departs Terminal Yard.

Next stop Selkirk!!

About 30 minutes later SK-7 heads out of the yard.

Next Stop Selkirk!!

Last but not least Coal Extra 3007 rolls out of the yard.

Next stop Selkirk!!!

Big Mike has signed off for today and has left the yard in good shape. A block of PCCM cars at the end of track #3 will wait until the inbound freight cars arrive next weekend for further movement. In the meantime I'll run an op to get the non PCCM cars on their way before the onslaught of inbounds arrive.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya soon!!!

Acknowledge the work of the Yard Job and the Pier 16 crew, the dispatch of SK-5, SK-7, and Coal Extra #3007.

    West Mill out.

The caprice of the wha..!?! I guess Big Mike hasn't been privy to our conversations about the random effect the Rail Traffic Management Form has on our car movement from series to series! The N.Y.C.T.L. certainly had more than its share of traffic to deal with this time as evidenced by the long transfer run from North Side Yard that Terminal Yard had to deal with! Great yard work action and nice job setting up the outbound trains. I like the photo of the three train line up with their black consists waiting to go at Terminal Yard. Terrific job getting the outbounds out! I'll leave Big Mike and company to take care of the non-P.C.C.M. cars remaining!

Thank you for the compliments Ralph!!!
The caprice of the...whatever😊 was challenging and a lot of fun to work thru. After seeing the dispatch of Extra 2228 from West Mill it looks like Big Mike will have his hands full in the outbound portion as well!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

And I thought Caprice was some type of Italian Deli meat! Go figure…! The building of trains SK-7 and SK-5 take a lot of work. Hopefully Big Mike has calmed down by the time they get out of town. Maybe if they gave Big Mike a class in the R.T.M.F. he would understand it? Wishful thinking? On another outbound topics, R.M.O. Electric will be ready for coal as they have requested to give Extra 3007 priority to Rock Ridge. We will reach out to Selkirk and advise accordingly.
