Penn Central Car Movements #81 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 4 / The Inbound Trains Begin To Arrive

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #81!!!

This virtual op is once again a three layout affair with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR. Today we get the inbound portion started.

We open up with Extra 6533 that originated in Weehawken Yard  rolling thru Empire City towards Terminal Yard.

Extra 6533 comes thru Bedford NY on the last leg of it's journey

Extra 6533 arrives in Terminal Yard

After being cut from the train the U28C is brought to the fuel pad.

Our next train coming in is Extra 3175 that originated in Rock Ridge Yard on the APRR. The train is entering the Empire City High Line as it heads to Terminal Yard.

Extra 3175 running the Bedford NY towards Terminal Yard.

Extra 3175 arrives at Terminal Yard with seven gondolas of pipe from Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge NJ. The 3175 is one of sixteen PC GP40s (3170-3185) delivered in October 1968 with an orange C.

Extra 3175 spots it's train on the #8E receiving track for the Pier 16 switcher to pick up and take to the pier.

The GP40 joins the U28C at the fuel rack. Not a bad looking lash up!

Next we catch Big Mike gathering the inbound cabooses and Kar Knocker preparing to blue flag the train for inspection. TPFX 5510, the very first virtual ops car was tacked onto Extra 6533s consist at Selkirk.

Later on we catch Big Mike tacking a transfer caboose on the Gondolas that came in on Extra 3715.

The Pier 16 Switcher is coupled up and prepares to take the gondolas to the Pier for loading onto a ship for export as Kar Knocker prepares to pull the blue flag from the 6533 consist.

The Pier 16 Switcher pulls the train into the tunnel connecting the yard to the 12th Ave running track and the pier.

Over at Terminal Yard Big Mike starts to sort the 6533 freight cars.

Also being classified are these PCCCM empties that were left in the yard at the end of the inbound portion.

Three cars of auto parts from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ are  shoved into track #3 for delivery to the Bedford Park Ford Plant. AP boxcar #58260 loaded with furniture frames from Mike's Lumber and a six car block PC / AP hoppers are shoved into track #4 for later delivery to Empire City industries.

Empty PC Hi Cube boxcar #272742 is spotted for delivery to American Hardware in Bedford park for it's next PCCM load. Empty EL and NYC boxcars are on the head end of Train BT-27 for delivery to T&R Gravel for their next PCCM loads.

Several hours later PC Hi Cube #272747 is spotted for the Pier 16 Switcher to pick.

The Pier 16 crew has returned from the docks and couples onto the PC Hi Cube.

The empty PC Hi Cube joins a pair of empty NYC double door boxcars at Bruce Electric Equipment awaiting their next PCCM loads.

Later in the afternoon Extra 2228 out of West Mill on the Kings Port Division rolls thru Empire City towards Terminal Yard

Extra 2228 passes Bedford Station

GP30 #2228 brings the train into the yard tall and proud.

The long train with freight cars from the PC West Mill Yard and KP&W  Williams Yard eases down the arrival departure track.

A six car block for interchange with the Long Island RR brings up the rear of the train with a NYC caboose carrying the markers.

We'll cut it here today with our inbound trains in the yard and the 2228 and companion ex PRR F7s spotted at the fuel rack.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with Kar Knocker and Big Mike getting the inbound trains moving out to their next destinations.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Acknowledge arrival of Trains Extra 6533, Extra 3175, and Extra 2228. Acknowledge work of the Pier 16 Switcher at Terminal Yard.

    West Mill out.

Great organized work at Terminal Yard as the slew of cars from three incoming trains rolls into town! Nice set up of future trains for this series and car forwarding moves for the next! I appreciated the tidbit regarding the Orange C GP40s. Train meets with Extra #3175 (Light engine run)and Extra #2228 (mixed train with FP7 at the head end)were enjoyable surprises! Nice job reflecting the original lashup on Extra #2228 with the PRR units! You have a lot of cars to move. I'm looking forward to watching it get done!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Let the inbound begin! Lots of freight arrived at Terminal Yard and the crew wasted no time to get things moving. The Pier 16 addition gives the railroad different types of action at one location. Looking forward to see what other items can be both imported and exported. I like this move with the 7 gondolas, especially the manufacturer who made those pipe loads!
