Penn Central Car Movements #81 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / Terminal Yard and Bedford Park Yard Jobs

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #81!!!

This virtual op is once again a three layout affair with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR. The inbound portion continues today.

Big Mike pulls the caboose off Extra 2228 that came in yesterday afternoon as Kar Knocker stands by to inspect the train.

Inspection complete and blue flag removed Big Mike has coupled onto the long freight consist and asks Kar Knocker to uncouple the consist after the TOFC cars.

Kar Knocker has done his job and Big Mike delivers four TOFC cars from the KP&W's Williams Yard to the Terminal Yard TOFC ramp. To the right is the other half of the Extra 2228 freight consist. Looking around there are PCCM cars as far as the eye can see!!!!

Big Mike is working with the LIRR block. EBRR boxcar #360279 will be heading to Nassau Community College (Turnpike Tech) with a load of business machines from IBM.

TPFX boxcar 5510 loaded with wood products from Triangle Pacific is blocked with B&M RBLs 105, 109 and 110 loaded with wood veneers from Eastern States Plywood for later four car delivery to University Millwork in Train BT-27.

Big Mike continues working the Extra 2228 freight consist.

The Yard work is now done and out local trains are blocked for delivery. The engine terminal switchers have come to collect GM&O boxcar #21129 loaded with lube oil from the Gulf River facility.

The boxcar of lube oil is delivered to the shop. A rebuilt EMD prime mover is being loaded in the background for delivery to the KP&W at Williams Yard in a future PCCM.

It's time to check in with Robert R working the Bedford Park Yard Job, conferring with the Bedford Towerman and preparing to depart for Terminal Yard with Train BP-12.

Train BP-41 passes Bedford Station.

Robert R brings the BP-41 into Terminal Yard.

Robert R has coupled up to the outbound cars and prepares to return to Bedford Park as Train BP-41.

BP-41 heads back to Bedford Park Yard

The first cars from BP-41 are being spotted at the Ford Plant Steel Track with loads of steel coils from Kings Port Steel.

Robert R brings a cut from BP-41 into the tight confines of Bedford Park for his runaround move.

Runaround move completed Rock Island boxcar #35062 loaded with TVs from Zenith is shoved into All City Storage for unloading and  distribution to local outlets.

The other cars from the cut are placed out of the way in the tiny yard.

The second cut of cars from BP-41 are pulled into Bedford Park. The PRR, NYC and EBRR boxcars are loaded with auto parts from IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge NJ.

Robert R will bring the large cars past the turnout for another runaround move.

The oversized cars are then shoved into the Ford Plant and the assembly lines will run for another few days.

The work at Ford done, Robert R heads back to the yard to retrieve these two boxcars.

Empty PC boxcar 272742 is spotted for its next PCCM load of bulk hardware for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY.

We'll close it out here for today with the PCCM 81 work at Bedford
 Park Yard completed.

We'll follow along tomorrow with PC Trains BT-27 and EC-1.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Acknowledge Yard work at Terminal Yard and the dispatch of BP-12/BP41.

    West Mill out.

The Terminal Yard crew is bustin' hump to get the unusually high number of cars sent to the N.Y.C.T.L. in this series to their final destinations! Its always enjoyable to see how trains are broken down and reassembled at this yard! I like the move of the GM&O car to the shop. Gulf providing lube oil for the motive power is a nice additional op. Large size rolling stock is featured on the BP-12/BP-41 Bedford Turn with those good looking loaded autoracks and the 86 foot auto parts cars. Ford is keeping things active over there! Looking forward to more trains tomorrow!

This day was a tale of yards big and small! From the pocket sized Bedford Park Yard to what has become the sprawling Terminal Yard. The GM&O car is a nice move and I liked the caprice of the RTMF where that car and the PC flat getting the prime mover ended up side by side in the shop.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Looks like Big Mike and Kar Knocker have a great system set up as they get the cars moving around quickly. Turnpike Tech is my alma mater as I spent many afternoons going over to the LIRR Garden City freight yard after class to check out what engines and freight cars I could find on any given day. BP-41 looking good moving those auto parts box cars to the Ford Plant. Don’t want to have any down time at Ford. Shareholders could get angry!

I knew about Turnpike Tech being your alma mater and made sure to get it into the virtual ops so we could have some fun with it!
