Penn Central Car Movements #76 / N.Y.C.T.L. Part 5 / The Inbound Trains Arrive

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #76!

The three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR starts the inbound portion of the op today.

We open in Empire City as PC Train TY-2 from Selkirk, consisting of freight cars from the A.P.R.R., heads thru the city towards it's destination of Terminal Yard.

Train TY-2  passes Bedford Station

TY-2 rolls into Terminal Yard.

TY-2's engines have cut off from the train and ease to the fuel pad.

Back in Empire City about an hour later we catch Train TY-4 from Selkirk with freight cars from the Kings Port Division heading to Terminal Yard.

Train TY-4 rumbles thru Bedford

Ex NYC GP30 #2197 leads TY-4 into Terminal Yard.

The TY-4 engines head in for refueling.

A short time later the yard job collects the cabooses and the Kar Knocker puts his blue flags in place prior to inspecting the inbound trains.

The yard job starts setting up the yard by distributing cabooses for the outbound locals that will be built from trains TY-2 and TY-4.

The yard work is well underway with building the locals as we see freight cars from the A.P.R.R joining with freight cars from the K.P.D. for local delivery and interchange.

Trains TY-2 and TY-4 have been converted to several local trains and it's time for the yard job to make some deliveries to industries within the yard limits.

GM&O boxcar #21129 is dropped off for the Pier 16 yard switcher.

The yard job starts working Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage.

Spotted at door #2 is NH boxcar #36116 loaded at Van Winkle Canning with canned foods for local supermarkets.

PC boxcar #360063 is spotted at door #13 for it's next P.C.C.M. load.

The Pier 16 Yard Switcher spots GM&O boxcar #21129 at Bruce Electric Equipment for it's next P.C.C.M. load.

After several hours Terminal Yard is in good shape to start the day and begin dispatching the local trains.

Second trick yard job engineer Big Mike has reported for duty and get's a tow job assignment to start his day. The empty non P.C.C.M. hopper train seen earlier on the Bedford Secondary has outlawed and needs to be towed into the yard so we can get this virtual op moving.

Conductor Murray is dropped off at the caboose.

Big Mike couples the SD9s to the coal train engines.

Big Mike tows the coal train

We'll cut it here with the coal train power being shoved into the engine terminal.

We'll pick it up tomorrow in Terminal Yard and check in with Robert R working the always busy and challenging Bedford Park Yard.

Be sure to catch the P.C.C.M. #76 action on
PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

The turnaround time is impressive! Getting the trains broken down and turned around is something the real Penn Central should have done! That’s a lot of motive power pulling in TY-2 from Selkirk, very impressive. Same with train TY-4, Geeps are working hard to bring that train home. Big Mike has his hands full with those SD9’s towing that coal train. Nice start to our inbound!

Acknowledge arrival of trains TY-2 and TY-4 at Terminal Yard, yard switching at local industries, and arrival of outlawed coal train.

    West Mill out.

Have to echo Neal's comments about the motive power display in this post! Loved the mixed consist on TY-2 and admired the horse power on TY-4! Great mix of First and Second Generation locos with the SD9 leading he coal train! Really good sound on the videos makes it the "next best thing to being there!"
