Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movement series #73!!
This three layout virtual op with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR interchanging freight cars with my N.Y.C.T.L. continues today with the dispatch of PC train EC-1 and the Empire Belt RR Morning Industrial Job
A five engine consist including leased APRR GP38-2 #358 working off the APRR's P.C.C.M. miles gets called for Train EC-1
Catch EC-1 rolling thru Bedford
GP30 2228 leads EC-1 into North Side Yard.
After dropping of their freight cars for the EBRR EC-1 heads out of Empire City for Bedford Park as Train EC-2.1/87th scale Robert R is back in his Alco S4 at Bedford Park Yard and is putting things back in order.
EC-2 crosses onto the Bedford Secondary.
After pulling out the cars set on the Bedford Park Yard lead by Robert R EC-2 shoves the Gulf tank cars and buffers into the lead.
EC-2 is back together and heading for home.
Back at Bedford Park Yard the Gulf tank cars from the Kings Port River Facility are spotted at the Ford tank car track.
With Bedford Park Yard space always at a premium 1/87th scale Robert R shoves the two empties back onto the yard lead for pick up.
Next we turn our attention to the Empire Belt Railroad's North Side Yard where we catch 1/87th scale PC Ralph in GP30 2160 tacking a caboose onto the freight cars from EC-1.
After running around to the Hohman Ave entrance the GP30s are shoving the train out of the yard via the east side entrance.
1/87th scale PC Ralph will use the main and industrial track to block the Morning Industrial Job train. This is being done to avoid blocking Hohman Ave. Ever since the Frank Rossollino incident extreme care has been taken to limit the time at grade crossings.
With the train blocked 1/87th scale PC Ralph pulls across Hohman Ave to get the entire train onto the industry track. This will only take a few minutes so there should be no violations.
After shoving down the industry track the MIJ is working the east side Empire City industries. Being shoved into the EC Cargill are three covered hoppers from the large Cargill in Rock Ridge NJ that are loaded with barley.
Non P.C.C.M. freight cars are being pulled from Gervais Pipe and Fitting and Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
Spotted at Ralph's Grocery Warehouse is AP RBL #58279 loaded with supplies from C&P Restaurant Supply and IC boxcar #30130 loaded with soda from Woodstock Hills All Natural Soda.
Spotted at Gervais Pipe & Fitting are a pair of Evans coil coaches loaded with steel coils from Kings Port Steel.
The MIJ is now working Neal's Lumber and Hardware under the supervision of 1/87th scale Sir Neal Himself. The AP RBLs have coupled up to the B&O boxcar that needs to be pulled.
With space for two 40' cars and three cars worth of products going to Neal's a command decision has been made. One 50' AP RBL with plywood veneer from Mike's Lumber and a NYC 40' Early Bird boxcar loaded with bagged cement from Boom's Ready Mix will get spotted today.
1/87th scale PC Ralph is back on the move as he brings the MIJ across the Empire City viaduct to access the west side industries.
After an hour or so of moving freight cars around the NYC Pacemaker car loaded with new 55 gal drums from A.C.C.O. is spotted at Drywell Inks.
Fulfilling Empty Car Requests this pair of empty EBRR 40' boxcars are shoved into the Walsh Steel Wool Products siding for their next P.C.C.M. load.
The switching work done 1/87th scale PC Ralph heads back to North Side Yard via the High Line.
We'll cut it here for today with the MIJ entering North Side Yard.
We'll pick it up and close it out tomorrow starting at the Terminal Yard engine terminal.
Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR!
Thanks for reading and watching!!
See ya tomorrow!!

Rock Ridge Yard Out!
Neal’s Lumber has been a busy location as of late. The rejuvenation and expansion of Empire City is a testament to how they are growing by using materials from the lumber yard as well as Gervais Pipe. EB 2160 & 2161 are a very smart looking pair of Geeps on the Empire City Viaduct. Just saw for the first time the Ford Motor Plant tank car facility and I like how it ties into the industry. Nice touch!

DeleteThank you for the compliments 1:1 Sir Neal!!
Neal's Lumber and Hardware has been the economic engine for Empire City from the first day it was built! Don't think I didn't see 1/87th scale Sir Neal eyeing the building behind the lumber yard for future expansion or a tunnel thru the ground floor!

West Mill out.
The five unit lashup on EC-1 was impressive and the orange unit lent some nice color to the PC black dip! The three APRR cylindrical covered hoppers are beauts! Nice work on those! As you know, I enjoy saying that I like to see "my cars on your layout" and they seemed to be traveling all over the N.Y.C.T.L. to be set out at various industries. Lots of deliveries made today! Like Neal, I was attracted to the Neal's Lumber scene with its small space accommodating the boxcars on track leading into their property. That is a neat scene with the short curved spur! I'm always happy when you include an engine yard shot showing off the impressive roster!

DeleteThanks for the compliments Ralph!!!
Cars from West Mill were plentiful on the NYCTL! Neal's Lumber & Hardware is one of my favorites as well. I extended the spur track slightly a few years ago to squeeze in a second 40' car.
