Penn Central Car Movements #103 Part 4 / The Inbound Series Begins

 Greetings All,

 Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #103!!!
Our first PCCM of 2024 continues today with PCCM freight cars from Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR arriving on the layout and being moved to their intended destinations.

The first of two inbound trains is PC Train TY-2 from Selkirk with PCCM freight traffic for the Penn Central from both the KPD and APRR. PC GP38 #2010 leads the TY-2 past the always busy Bedford Tower.
Train TY-2 brings PCCM traffic from the APRR and KPD to Terminal Yard.
The 2010 with pool power Cotton Belt GP40s, making their PCCM debut, and a PC SD35 bring Train TY-2 into Terminal Yard.
The TY-2 power rolls into the engine terminal. You know the 1:87 railfan grapevine will be humming with these foreign road units that can be photographed from the public street at left. 
Kar Knocker is out to inspect the TY-2 freight consist and Big Mike gets ready to pull the caboose.
The TY-2 caboose is shoved into the caboose track.
Big Mikes sets up the yard.
With the TY-2 consist inspected and released Big Mike gets to work building the local trains that will deliver these PCCM cars to their intended consignees. At least that's the plan! Four empty APRR ballast hoppers, two non PCCM depressed center flatcars and six empty coal hoppers from Kings Port Steel will make up today's Train MR-1.

Two steel coil coaches from Kings Port Steel loaded with steel coils and an EBRR boxcar of hot auto parts from IDEAL Auto Parts will be heading to the Bedford Park Ford Plant in Train BP-41.
Two empty EBRR boxcars are placed in Train BT-27, the Bedford Turn, to fulfill PCCM empty car requests from the Schaefer Brewery.
A PC boxcar couples up to a pair of empty tank cars on the diesel fuel track.
With the fuel track clear three Gulf tank cars loaded with diesel fuel are coupled up and ready for movement to the fuel track.
The tank cars which came from the Gulf River Facility are placed on the fuel track for unloading. 
With his work complete and the yard in order Big Mike calls it quits.
But there are still plenty of train movements that need to be made as the Yard A crew is preparing to depart Yard A for Terminal Yard and the Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage Complex.
The 16A is on the move.
The 16A Job with the empty NPM 473 reefer from Yard A couples onto three PCCM Penn Central boxcars and a non PCCM APRR boxcar for movement to the T.W.&.C.S. complex.

A cut of cars get pulled from the T.W.&.C.S. siding.
PC boxcars #229258 and #229408 delivering their first PCCM loads of bulk hardware from American Hardware in Rock Ridge, NJ are shoved to the loading docks of the Bendix Corp.
PC boxcar #360508 loaded with paper products from Marcal in Rock Ridge, NJ is spotted for unloading at Consolidated Grocery Distributors. Empty NPM Reefer #473 is placed at Birdseye for its next PCCM load.
The 16A gets ready to shove back to Yard A with the freight cars from the T.W.&C.S. complex
The 16A heads back to Yard A.
While the Yard A crew continues with some non PCCM work at Pier 16 lets check out the nocturnal arrival of engineer Robert R at Bedford Park Yard.

Robert R gets to work at the Ford Plant pulling two empty non PCCM coil cars for movement back to Detroit.
The next move is on Ford siding #1 to pull three empty boxcars also going back to Detroit. During this era the Motor City could still brag about Detroit Muscle and the PC did there part to give truth to that claim.
Robert R stops at Bedford Tower to get permission to head to Terminal Yard as Train BP-12
Train BP-12 rolls thru Bedford.
Train BP-12 arrives in Terminal Yard.

Robert R checks in with the trainmaster and yard crew as his locomotive builds up the air for a quick turnaround to Bedford Park Yard as Train BP-41
The BP-41 hustles back to BedfordPark Yard.
Train BP-14 arrives back in Bedford Park.
Two cars of steel coils from Kings Port Steel in Kings Port NY are shoved into the Bedford Park Ford Plant steel track.
After making the required runaround move a non PCCM NYC boxcar is shoved into All City Storage.
EBRR boxcar #503827 loaded with hot auto parts is shoved into siding #1. The EBRR has two specially painted boxcars that are used in Ford service.
We'll cut it here for today with Robert R tying down his RS1 and caboose in the yard.
We're right back at it tomorrow starting in Terminal Yard the Bedford Turn heading out first.

  1. I have certainly enjoyed the action in this series! PCCM 103-4 is really booming with all the various jobs out and about. Neat seeing the FM Trainmaster doing the chores at Terminal Yard, including the switching of the fuel rack. I really like that blue Empire Belt boxcar that BP-12 spotted at Ford. Really sharp looking! Thanks John!

    The inclusion of the Cotton Belt units in TY-2's consist is a neat reference to a recently discovered prototype practice that railfans loved back then and today! Great work by the Terminal Yard crews preparing cars for MR-1, BP-41, and BT-27! The 16A Job gets more and more interesting with the various businesses located at the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex! Nice debut by the new PC cars! I liked the audio for BP-12 with its squealing flanges! I think the blue EBRR #503827 is among my favorite PCCM cars!

    The crew wasted no time in turning around the inbound freight cars. The addition of Yard ‘A’ adds more train ops to your PCCM. I did like the cabeese/caboose move the crew made at Terminal Yard. The RS unit working the Ford plant sees lots of action and is a great industry to switch. The background information you added is a nice touch.
