Penn Central Car Movements #103 Part 3 / Conclusion of Outbound Operations

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #103!!!
Our first PCCM of 2024 continues today with more PCCM freight cars being gathered for movement to Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and the dispatch of our outbound trains.

The action starts in Terminal Yard as the yard job has shoved the EB-2 freight cars into the yard before going off duty. The waybills have been submitted to the yard office where the manifests for the outbound trains will be made up for the incoming yard crew.
With that the Pier 16 Yard A 16A crew is now on duty and departing Yard A with an NYC Alco FA-FB-FB-FA set that has somehow eluded trade in or scrapping. Ssshhh...
The 16A job heads to Terminal Yard.
The 16A is working the Terminal Warehouse and Cold Storage Complex pulling out a block of freight cars including empty NPM Reefer 473 for its next PCCM load.
The 16A heads back to Yard A.
The 16A is back at Yard A. Empty NPM Reefer 473 is spotted for cleaning, refueling and precooling before being moved to Birdseye in the TW&CS complex for its next PCCM load.
Over at Terminal Yard an F7A-GP7 consist is ready to depart with Train MR-1, the Mine Run to Hudson Coal and T&R Gravel.
Train MR-1 departs Terminal Yard.
The Mine Run job eases down track #1 to access the switch into T&R Gravel.
Four Penn Central PS-2 covered hoppers loaded with locomotive sand for the APRR Richmond Hill Engine Terminal are pulled from T&R Gravel.
The four PC covered hoppers are temporarily placed in Hudson Coal.
A non PCCM PC covered hopper at left is shoved into T&R Gravel with empty EL boxcar 73510 that will get its next PCCM load.
The MR-1 is now working Hudson Coal and pulling out the loaded hoppers.
The last of the loaded hoppers are pulled.
The Mine Run pulls the loads out of Hudson Coal.
The MR-1 is held on the Bedford Secondary near Bedford Tower awaiting clearance to cross over to the mainline to deliver the empty hoppers to Hudson Coal.
Empty hoppers get delivered to Hudson Coal.
The empties are spotted.
The locomotives have coupled onto the loaded hoppers and await clearance to return to Terminal Yard as Train MR-2.
Train MR-2 heads back to Terminal Yard.
The MR-2 arrives in Terminal Yard as PC Ralph checks out the hood unit cab unit lash up.
With the EBRR Extra 6720 gone Kar Knocker and Big Mike get down to business building our outbound trains.
Big Mike gets to work blocking and building the outbound trains.
Several hours later (literally!) the trains are built and it's time to call the road crews. Train SK-5 with the F7 A-B-A lash up will be first out followed by Train SK-7 with the GP40 consist.
Engine Hostler Wet Willie wipes his brow after coupling the FP7s onto a train of loaded coal hoppers that will be Extra 4348.
Train SK-5 is on the move!!
The SK-5 gets a highball at Bedford Tower. Next stop Selkirk!
Thirty minutes later Train SK-7 is on the move!!!
The highballs are flying at Bedford Tower. Next stop Selkirk.
Last but certainly not least Extra 4348 departs Terminal Yard.
The towerman keeps the west bound parade moving as Extra 4348 gets a highball. Next stop Selkirk!!!
This concludes the outbound series on my layout. Be sure to catch all the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR. We'll be back for the Inbound series this Friday.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you Friday!!!

Several trains dispatched form Terminal Yard in this installment with two for the Kings Port Division to prepare for! Yard crews should be credited for their hard work assembling and dispatching all of those trains! The modified Clinchfield caboose is a cool addition to the 16A op as it protects the backward moves! The F7/ Geep combo on MR-1 is a favorite lashup of mine ans is often seen run by both the PC and the KP&W on the King Port Division. More F units onSK-5 made this an especially enjoyable installment for me! Cappy Foster is relieved to hear that other yardmasters sometimes miss a car like the P&E 3638! It arrived at Terminal Yard in time so no one else needs to know! Nice pre-merger mix of PRR, NYC, and NH passenger cars on the commuter! The freight is winding its way to Selkirk and eventually to Williams Yard and West Mill! We'll be ready for you! Nice work all around!
