Random Running #2 / PC, B&O, CR, NY&A

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Random Running #2 of 2022!!!

We open with the Penn Central's Terminal Yard wreck train answering another call for the Big Hook. Derailments rose to unprecedented levels under the PC as deferred maintenance took its toll on the the struggling and later bankrupt railroad.

A freight train from a more successful merger comes thru Empire City NY. A B&O GP30 leads a mix of B&O and C&O power in Chessie paint with a GP30 in original EMD paint
Erie Lackawanna F7A #7131 is on the point of the Conrail train in a post April 1st 1976 photo.

Conrail Quality GP40-2 #3297 and SW 1500 # 9513(ex PC 9513) bring a transfer freight thru Bedford NY. The Conrail Quality paint scheme began being applied in 1991.

New York & Atlantic RR GP38-2s 271and 261 pass Bedford Station
in this post 9-11-2001 photo. The NY&A did not hire a graffiti artist to paint the mural on the 271. They hired John Magee, an artist who paints cars and buses, as reported by Fred L Krebs president & COO of the NY&A in the June 2002 Trains Magazine to clear up some confusion on the mural.

Enjoy the trains!!!!

Thanks for watching!!!
See you soon!!

  1. Just a nice collection of trains running thru Empire City. Unfortunately, every railroad has its issues, as the PC attested to this.It is a nice work train, all things considered. I did spot that EMD Demonstrator engine in white, very cool. Thanks for the railfan video!
