Penn Central Car Movements #91 / Part 2 / A Day In Empire City

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #91!!!

Today the NYCTL continues its outbound car movements to facilitate the interchange of freight cars with the 1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

We open up day two at the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard with senior engineer Sir Neal and engineer PC Ralph talking over the day's work.

After getting the yard in order PC Ralph brings the Empire City local onto the Empire City secondary track as Sir Neal gives it a roll by inspection.

The Local heads west.

The ECL has shoved back east and starts working the east side industries. Being pulled from Gervais Pipe & Fitting are two empty Evans coil coaches heading back to Kings Port Steel.

Next move is at Ralph's Grocery Warehouse to pull this empty NYC Early Bird boxcar for its next PCCM load.

The ECL starts working the midtown industries and pulls empty P&E boxcar #3638 from Neal's Lumber and Hardware for its next PCCM load as Sir Neal himself assists the crew.

PC Ralph brings the EBRR train west towards Hohman Ave.

PC Ralph brings the ECL past Hohman Ave Tower.

The EBRR train heads over the Empire City viaduct to access the West Side industries.

First move on the west side is the storage track to pull a pair of gondolas loaded with pipe for the Hudson Valley Ag Cooperative and NYC boxcar #80755 loaded with bulk cardboard for Canton Box.

PC boxcar #77047 gets picked up at Moore & Co loaded with burlap bags for Hedberg Aggregates.

Being pulled from Drywell Inks are NYC Pacemaker and Rock Island boxcars loaded with ink for the Catskill Mountain Press.

PC Ralph has the local back together and heads for North Side Yard.

The ECL comes into North Side Yard with conductor John and Sir Neal inspecting the train.

Later in the day conductor John has the waybills in order and it's time to get the yard in order.

A trio of PCCM boxcars including a NYC Early Bird to the left, PC 77047 and P&E 3638 are spotted to be cleaned out and held for local PCCM loading.

The word is out!!! Railfan friendly Empire Belt RR will be running their Alco FA units on today's transfer train to Terminal Yard.

Senior engineer Sir Neal waits on the main in the Alcos as PC Ralph in the 2160 drifts towards the eastside to get into position.

The 2160 couples onto the EB-2 as a policeman watches.

The EB-2 is on the move and coming around the west side curve.

The railfan chase is on!!!

Train EB-2 comes into Terminal Yard and the Alcos draw a crowd of Penn Central employees who are railfans as well as railroad professionals.

The train chasers are also present to catch the FA-FB-FB-FA lash up.

PC Ralph and the helpers shove the EB-2 into the yard.

The helpers and one caboose have cut off from the train and PC Ralph exchanges pleasantries with PC men.

PC Ralph heads back to Empire City.

We'll close it out here for today with Sir Neal and the Alcos in the engine terminal and Sir Neal talking with the guys from the Kings Port Railway Society who ventured to the big city to catch the Alcos in action.

We'll pick it up tomorrow in Terminal Yard, send out our final local train and dispatch our outbound train to Selkirk.

Be sure to follow the action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

The ECL got a workout pulling all those cars. The roll by with the Alco units was exciting as I think the initial part of the video was from a vantage point I’ve never seen on the NYCTL! That Beeliner RDC is always making an appearance. Seems like a very profitable run on the railroad!

Thank you Sir Neal!!! Good eye on the EB-2 video vantage point! That was the first time I tried that spot. Needs better lighting going forward. The RDC has become a money saver for the short passenger runs!

I'm a big fan of the GP30/F7B/GP30 consist on the Empire City Local! That train pulled a lot of PCCM cars out of local industries. I like the clean-out move with boxcars PC 77047 and P&E 3638! EB-2 was a fantastic train with its FA set, the helpers at the rear and its long length as it rolled by!

Thank you Ralph!!! The F7B in the GP30 consist provided the extra muscle needed to get these lone trains moving! Clean boxcars for our PCCM shippers are a must! This EB-2 was a lot of fun putting together and running. Thank you for the compliments on it.
