Penn Central Car Movements #87 / NYCTL Part 3

 Greetings All,

Happy Halloween!!!

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #87!!!

Our two layout virtual operation with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division interchanging freight cars with my New York Central Layout continues today with the dispatch of our outbound trains.

Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR remains out of service with ongoing signal upgrades. Trains for the APRR will be held in Terminal Yard or the Pier 16 Yard until the APRR is back up and running.

The Terminal Yard yard job gets busy blocking the outbound cars and is working on the EB-2 freight consist that came in yesterday.

Train SK-7 starts getting built on track #1. The excavator on the flatcar is going to Sal's Salvage and the EL reefer and HR RBL are going to Van Winkle Canning.

Six coal hoppers for Corning Glass and an HR 40' boxcar going to Reynolds Beverage are coupled up to HR 50' RBL as SK-7 continues to be built on track #1.

Two more coal hoppers for Corning Glass and a gondola of pipe for Hudson Valley Ag Co Op via Williams Yard get coupled into the SK-7 consist.

The yard job turns it's attention to a train of loaded hoppers for the APRR which will need to be held at Terminal Yard. The PC PS2 hoppers are loaded with locomotive sand from T&R Gravel.

The APRR hoppers are shoved towards Pier 16 with an NYC unit coal train caboose protecting the shove. The coal hoppers are from Hudson Coal with loads for RMO Electric. In the background the Pier 16 switcher is pulling cars from Bruce Electric Equipment.

The loaded hoppers are shoved into Pier 16 yard track #2 to be held until the APRR is ready to receive them.

Meanwhile the Pier 16 switcher drops GM&O boxcar #21129 loaded with electrical wires and harnesses for Peerless Appliance at Terminal Yard.

The GM&O boxcar is shoved into the SK-7 freight consist.

Four empty coil coaches heading to Kings Port Steel are coupled into the SK-7 consist on Track #1

Three empty B&M RBLs to be cut off at Selkirk for delivery to the B&M are placed on the head end of Train SK-7.

The yard job continues its work pulling six loaded 57' reefers and  50' PC boxcar #360508 from Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage.

PC boxcar #360508 loaded with bulk paper for Marcal is shoved into a block of outbound freight cars for future dispatch to the APRR.

Six EBRR-APRR reefers with frozen food and an EL 57' reefer with frozen produce for C&P Restaurant Supply are shoved towards Pier 16 for placement on Pier 16 track #1.

Over at Pier 16 the Pier 16 switcher pulls three APRR covered hoppers loaded with grain from the Pier 16 Silos going to Cargill in Rock Ridge NJ.

The three covered hoppers are shoved into Pier 16 yard track #1 to await future dispatch to the APRR.

The covered hoppers join the seven car block of 57' reefers on Pier 16 track #1.

A fuel truck has been dispatched to top off the fuel tanks of the mechanical refrigerators to keep the refrigeration units running.

It's time to call out the outbound power!!! Two FP7s and one F7A get the call.

The Train SK-7, a mixed manifest originating at Terminal Yard and terminating at Selkirk departs.

Train SK-7 heads for Selkirk!!

Next stop Selkirk!!!

This concludes my outbound portions of P.C.C.M #87. Ralph and I will start posting out Inbound portions this coming Friday, November 5th, 2021.

Be sure to follow the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!

The Yard Job's PRR SD9s sporting their merger compliant numbers are looking good as they take care of business in Terminal Yard! The Pier 16 switcher adds a lot of interest and operations! The yellow 44 tonner is a cool locomotive! I like the detail shot of the tank truck servicing the reefer! Great choice of motive power on Sk-7 which will be seen arriving at Selkirk next weekend! Nice work assembling the outbound train and preparing cars for the next time the APRR is involved!

Thanks for the compliments Ralph!!! It was a fun Outbound weekend! I was happy to get that tank truck into the mix and use the 44 tonner for the light moves at Pier 16.

  2. Great looking wrap up to your outbound moves. I agree with Ralph, the tanker topping of the reefers is a nice touch šŸ‘ I have a feeling we will be seeing that lash up of F units on the KPD in the near future. šŸ˜‰ They appreciate the reliability of those first generation FP7’s and F7A. šŸš‚

    1. Thank you very much ATJOE!!! Ever since Ralph made me a big fan of the F units I've enjoyed running them in our ops and the models have been very reliable.

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Great job assembling the outbound train to Selkirk for the KP&W as well as storing freight for the APRR. Nice touch adding the fuel truck to give the reefers more fuel to keep the perishables cold. The yellow 44 tonner looked good working Pier 16 yard. Looking forward to the inbound portion of this P.C.C.M.
