Penn Central Car Movements #83/ N.Y.C.T.L. Part 2/ Empire City Action

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #83!!!

Our three layout virtual op with my N.Y.C.T.L. interchanging freight cars with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR continues today.

We open up in Terminal Yard with the dispatch of a pair of non PCCM trains to make room for the PCCM cars that will be pouring in shortly.

A Flexi Van Mail Train heads thru Bedford NY

A coal drag heads for Selkirk

A virtual ops LIRR Transfer brings PCCM and non PCCM freight cars toward North Side Yard

The LIRR train gets a highball at Bedford Tower.

Jimmy Alco brings the LIRR train into North Side Yard with PC Ralph and his brakeman ready to inspect the inbound freight consist.

PCCM cars being interchanged are empty LV NIRX #41000 to head back to the LV. Empty EBRR boxcar #358160 and empty EBRR covered hoppers that will get their next PCCM loads in Empire City.

Jimmy Alco and conductor John have exchanged waybills and Jimmy is ready to head back to his home rails.

The LIRR caboose is reclaimed.

The LIRR train heads back to Bliss Yard

Conductor John has waybills and a switch list prepared. He and senior engineer Sir Neal will work the Morning Industrial Job. PC Ralph will work the yard and ready the MIJ for departure.

PC Ralph has put the MIJ together and will continue to work the yard as Sir Neal has coupled up his EMD SDP40s to the train.

The MIJ crosses over from the Empire City main to the secondary.

The MIJ gets to work on the east side pulling three EBRR gondolas from Gervais Pipe & Fitting loaded with pipe for Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge NJ.

Sir Neal has shoved back to the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding to pull three empty reefers including the Tropicana RBL that will head back to Tropicana in Rock Ridge NJ.

Next move is at EC Cargill to pull a string of covered hoppers.

A pair of EBRR covered hoppers are spotted at EC Cargill for their next PCCM loads.

Now working the midtown siding the MIJ pulls NYC covered hopper #892010 from Red Wing Milling loaded with flour for Freihofer's Bakery in Rock Ridge NJ.

The MIJ heads west to work the west side industries

EBRR boxcar #360279 gets pulled from Reliable Machine Company loaded with processing machines for International Paper in Binghamton NY.

Next move is to clear out the Moore & Company siding.

Empty EBRR boxcar #358160 gets spotted at Moore & Company for its next PCCM load.

The MIJ is back together and ready to head back to North Side Yard.

Senior engineer Sir Neal brings the MIJ thru midtown

The MIJ returns to North Side Yard.

We'll cut it here today with the MIJ being doubled over from track #3 to track #1.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with PC Ralph bringing Train EB-2 from North Side Yard to Terminal Yard and then turn it over to the Terminal Yard crew to build and dispatch our outbound trains.

Be sure to catch the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Acknowledge dispatch of Flexi Van Mail Train, Coal Drag, LIRR Transfer, and the Morning Industrial Job.

    West Mill out.

Sometimes during P.C.C.M.s the "nonplayer" equipment can steal the show! The Flexi Van Mail Train rolling stock is fantastic and coal trains are always a favorite! The LIRR presence on the N.Y.C.T.L. reinforces the layout's connections "beyond the basement" and provides railfans the pleasure of seeing the classic LIRR livery. Nice work by the LIRR and the Morning Industrial job setting up the dispatch of trains to the APRR and the KPD! Oh! I really like the vantage point in the video of the MIJ rolling through Mid town!

Thank you very much Ralph!! Glad you enjoyed the non PCCM trains!! They were in the yard and I filmed them leaving town thinking I might use the footage, space permitting. Turns out I had the space and after a little back and forth with myself I put them into the blog post.

The midtown video came out a lot better than I thought it would. I adjusted the lighting for the video and was happy with the results. Glad you liked it!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

While there were many moves on this part, the best scene you showed is the one thru Midtown with the MIJ crossing tracks and in the background snaking its way to North Side Yard! I don’t remember seeing a video of this area from this particular angle! I did like the PC Mail Train and Coal Drag since the non PCCM cars don’t get a lot of attention. The Mail train stands out! Nice work Sir John!

Thanks for the compliments 1:1 Sir Neal!!! The run thru midtown finally worked out after I added more light. Before that it wasn't worth watching. As PCCMs permit I'll probably set up the camera and lights there again. Glad you enjoyed it and the non PCCM trains!
