P.C.C.M. 60 /NYCTL Part 4

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 60 series!!!

This weekend the participating layouts will be posting their inbound freight car moves. The NYCTL will be receiving cars from PC Ralph's Kings Port Division, Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and John B's Los Feliz & North Western RR.

We'll pick up the action at Empire City with daily PC Train VN-4 making its way from Selkirk Yard towards Terminal Yard with freight cars from the aforementioned layouts.

VN-4 rolls thru Bedford NY towards Terminal Yard

VN-4 arrives at Terminal Yard. The three leading F7As were tacked onto the front of the F7A - GP30 combo that came out of West Mill on the KPD in the opening PCCM 60 series. That sure likes like 1/87th scale PC Ralph at the helm!
With VN-4 now in the yard it's time to turn it over to the Yard Job. Before doing that I prepared these nifty looking PC switch lists that came my way from 1:1 PC Ralph. They look great and really help make the sorting and blocking of the inbound cars go smoothly.
The Yard Job with switch lists in hand gets to work coupling onto VN-4s caboose. TPFX #5510 loaded with apples from Vancouver for Empire Produce has the distinction of being the first PCCM car.
This quartet of reefers from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ on the APRR are loaded with foodstuffs that will go to Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage within the Terminal Yard yard limits.
The Yard Job has VN-4s freight cars pretty much sorted out and is now running the caboose to the caboose track. To the left we see an EMD prime mover being loaded onto a PC depressed center flatcar and a PC gon filled with engine terminal scrap.
The Yard Job heads back to take care of the remaining switch work. To the right is Train EC-1, the Terminal Yard to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard morning transfer run. Next to that are three cars for the LIRR which will need to go to North Side Yard as well. There are two covered hoppers for Bedford NY industries and the remaining cars on track 6 will be worked within the yard limits.
The tail end of EC-1 features cars for Walsh Steel Wool, Superior Furniture, Gervais Pipe and Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
VN-4s motive power heads into the engine terminal as work continues at the shop. The two gons of scrap and depressed flat with prime mover look to have their next PCCM loads in place.
Meanwhile the Yard Job is pulling cars from the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage buildings.
The three green EBRR 57' Reefers and orange AP 50' RBL from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge are now spotted at  Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage.
With the reefers now placed the YJ shoves empty EBRR coal hopper #416582 returning from the LF&NW into track #7 building another train of empty coal hoppers for Hudson Coal.
PRR X29 #9553 returning empty to home rails from the LF&NW is shoved into track 5 with other empty boxcars.
Word has come down from the yardmaster that dues to the length of EC-1 the cars for Bedford and the LIRR will dispatched as an Extra. A crew has been called as the YJ gets the Extra ready for departure.
We'll cut it off here for today with engine hostler Wet Willie having coupled NYC GP20 #2103 onto the outbound Extra. We'll pick it up tomorrow with Extra 2103 and EC-1 making their runs.

For more PCCM 60 action follow long on the
and

The LF&NW has been temporarily sidelined
along with the Ralston Creek RR
We hope to have them back in operation for PCCM 61.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

This train arrived in style with the multiple F unit/ GP30 consist! I was thinking of the Doobie Brothers song "Long Train Runnin' while watching the video of the train arriving. It seems like the N.Y.C.T.L. is often getting the heaviest traffic during P.C.C.M.s lately but the crew at Terminal Yard can handle it. Great use of the switch list! Nice work. Cool to see developing moves at the engine yard with the prime mover and scrap!

Thanks for the Long Train Running reference. Time to listen to it!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

I agree with Ralph that Terminal Yard is very busy with freight. How about that song 'Midnight Train To Georgia'? Very apropos for the N.Y.C.T.L. Looking forward to the rest of your moves!
