P.C.C.M. 60 / NYCTL Part 2

Greetings All,


Welcome Back to the PCCM 60 series!!!

We open up today at Terminal Yard with 1/87th scale Alco Joe getting called for the Coal Job. Engine hostler Wet Willie continues to try and get in Alco Joe's good graces by putting this four unit Alco lash up together. 1/87th scale Kar Knocker looks on as Wet Willie points out his latest peace offering.
The four Alcos will be put to the test today. The Coal Job's first assignment is to shove these three PC ore cars up the grade to T&R Gravel
and pull these two hoppers loaded with ore for Kings Port Steel on the KPD.  
Next stop is Hudson Coal where 1/87th scale Alco Joe and his conductor / brakeman will swap out empties for loads. Six loaded hoppers will be headed to Kings Port Steel to fuel their furnace.
The loads are pulled and coupled up to the rear of the empties as the train head towards Bedford Tower.
The loaded coal hoppers are dropped on Main 3 as the Coal Job crosses over to Main 2 at Bedford Tower with two hoppers of ore and fifteen empties for Hudson Coal.
The empties ae now spotted and the Coal Job conductor / brakeman gets ready to jump on the NYC hopper loaded with ore as the Coal Job departs from Hudson Coal.
1/87th scale Alco Joe has the Coal Job back together and awaits the passing of the Long Island Railroad transfer run to the Empire Belt's North Side Yard to clear the main.
The L.I.R.R. passes Bedford Tower and gets a highball from tower operator 1/87th scale John B to proceed to Empire City.
With the main now clear 1/87th scale Alco Joe notches up his four units and heads towards Terminal Yard.
The Coal Job arrives at Terminal Yard and heads into track 8 for the weigh in motion scale.
Back at Empire City the L.I.R.R. trundles along passing the new Empire City Station as it makes its way to North Side Yard.
The L.I.R.R. arrives on track 2 at North Side Yard and is greeted by the trainmen of the E.B.R.R. The L.I.R.R. engine will cut off from it's train here and move forward to couple up to the boxcars waiting on track 2. Nice job 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal prepping the yard for this time saving maneuver! 
The L.I.R.R. engine has its outbound boxcars in tow and heads back to the Hohman Ave yard entrance to reclaim the caboose. 
The L.I.R.R. has quickly coupled up to their caboose and is ready to leave. 
The L.I.R.R. transfer run heads out of town thru the west side.
Rolling thru Bedford NY while heading back to Bliss Yard on Main 2 the L.I.R.R. meets the Bedford Turn, Train BT-27, on Main 3.
BT-27 is now working the siding and shoving the PC boxcar loaded with labels for Van Winkle Canning from Berk Enterprises back towards University Millwork to pull the two B&M RBLs loaded with cabinets for Zenith. Both consignees are located in Bloomberg NY on the K.P.D.
BT-27 has completed its switch work and idles on Main 3 waiting for Empire Belt RR Train EB-4 to pass on Main 2 on its run from North Side Yard to Terminal Yard. Once EB-4 clears Main 2 BT-27 will run the engine around to prep the train for its run back to Terminal Yard. 
It won't be long for BT-27 as EB-4 is leaving North Side Yard. 
The three covered hoppers from the earlier L.I.R.R. transfer run will remain at North Side Yard for later spotting at Empire City industries for their next P.C.C.M. loads.
We'll close it out here for today with train EB-4 meeting BT-27 at Bedford as EB-4 makes its way to Terminal Yard.
Tomorrow we'll close it out on the NYCTL with the Yard Job and the dispatch of our outbound train.

    An Alco treat with the Coal job consist and the LIRR transfer. Folks in those nice new condos near Beford Tower got a great look at the action!

      Thanks for the compliments Ralph!!! The folks in those condos do have a front row seat to the rail action at Bedford Tower. I hope 1/87ths cale John B can keep the traffic moving and the exhaust plumes to a minimum!

    Looks like the Alco engines did that job just fine. Always nice to see the LIRR having some time on the railroad. Some nice action going on around Empire City. Very enjoyable to follow!

  4. A good start to the series! The new station looks perfect. BTW: I noticed the KPRS bug is still by the station. I'm guessing they're still taking in the sights around the station or they can't find their way off the station round-a-bout! (Circle in Philly area)

      I think the KPRS guys got confused when I switched the original mock up with the foam board and have not yet put in the tunnel. They've been driving around the station for a few days now. Good incentive to get the project rolling again!
