P.C.C.M. 60 / NYCTL Part 6 / Final Installment

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 60 series!!!

We'll finish up our inbound train movements today with the Empire Belt RR and Long Island RR taking care of business.

1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal has maneuvered the EBRR Morning Industrial Job onto the industrial track and is ready to shove back to work Empire City's east side industries.
1/87th scale conductor John is protecting the shove from EBRR caboose #1606 as 1/87th scale PC Ralph heads to the office to attend to PCCM administrative projects needed to keep these virtual ops running smoothly.
The first stop of the morning is Empire City Cargill. Loaded covered hoppers have been pulled out and sit on the industrial track. Three loaded PC cylindrical hoppers from Rock Ridge NJ Cargill follow two empties into Empire City Cargill.
Empty PC #886759 and TLDX #7241 are shoved to the end of the Cargill spur to await their next PCCM loads.
The trio of PC covered hoppers are now ready to be unloaded.
The MIJ is now working Ralph's Grocery Warehouse pulling the orange Hoschton Railway and Rock Island boxcars for their next PCCM destinations.
Loaded RBLs from Rock Ridge  NJ industries on the APRR include cars from Tropicana, Marcal and Freihoefers Bakery are now spotted at Ralph's. Looks like 1/87th scale PC Ralph is taking a break from his administrative projects to supervise the car moves and maybe grab a slice or two for lunch.
The MIJ has spotted two KP&W breadbox trough cars loaded with steel coils from Kings Port Steel at Gervais Pipe and Fitting. 1/87th scale Bobby G can be heard yelling from his forklift 'Send me some Gons!' as the MIJ departs.
1/87th scale Sir Neal brings the MIJ thru midtown towards the west side.
The MIJ passes Hohman Ave tower as it rolls into the west side.
First stop is Superior Furniture to pull two loaded 40' boxcars.
With the siding clear PC boxcar #360158 loaded with large Zenith Console TVs (remember them?) from Zenith in Bloomberg NY is spotted at Superior Furniture.
GM&O #21129 loaded with 55 gallon drums of cutting oil from the Gulf River Facility is spotted at Walsh Steel Wool Products.
The MIJ is now back together and heading back to the North Side Yard east side entrance.
1/87th scale PC Ralph is back at North Side Yard and greets the MIJ as it rolls into the yard. 1/87th scale Sir Neal gets the word that there is hot pizza waiting in the breakroom!
After their lunch break 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal and conductor John are back tidying up the yard. AP #60382 loaded with paper products from Marcal, IC #30130 and PC #77047 loaded with cases of soda from Woodstock Hills are constructively placed in North Side Yard for delivery to Ralph's Grocery Warehouse when called for.
1/87th scale Sir Neal and conductor John are now running the Afternoon Industrial Job and have left the yard to work the midtown industries. Two EBRR boxcars loaded with furniture and AP hopper #9416 loaded with aggregate from Hedberg Aggregate in Marion NY for NYS DOT Region #10 await the LIRR transfer run.
TPFX #5510 loaded with apples from Vancouver and EL #5034 with a load from C&P Restaurant Supply are spotted at Empire Produce.
NYC #892010 is spotted at Red Wing Milling for it's next PCCM load.
It's late afternoon and the LIRR transfer run from Bliss Yard is heading thru Bedford NY on it's way to North Side Yard.
The LIRR arrives at North Side Yard. 1/87th scale PC Ralph is out stretching his legs to greet the arriving train and direct them to their outbound cars.
The LIRR couples up to their outbound train under the watchful eyes of 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal. The Morton Salt covered hopper is heading to Ronzoni in L.I.C. with a load of salt from the Morton Salt Plant in Rock Ridge NJ and the EBRR gon is loaded with a storage tank from ACCO in Mayfield NY for Crown Oil and Chemical also in L.I.C. NY.
The LIRR transfer run passes Bedford Tower getting a roll by inspection from tower operator 1/87th scale John B on its way back to Bliss Yard and that wraps up the NYCTL's inbound portion of PCCM 60. Put it in the books!!!

P.C.C.M.60 / NYCTL Part 5

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the PCCM 60 series!!!

We pick up the action at Terminal Yard with engine hostler 1/87th scale Wet Willie having coupled a still turbo charged GP20 onto what will now be Extra 2103.
Extra 2103 has left Terminal Yard and makes it first stop at T&R Gravel.
KP&W PS-2 hopper #445052 is spotted for a load of locomotive sand that will head back to the KP&W's Williams Yard in a future PCCM.
Extra 2103 arrives at the Hostess / Wonder Bread Plant where they will spot their Hostess covered hopper loaded with flour from the big Cargill facility at Rock Ridge NJ on the APRR.
Back at Terminal Yard a lash up of Alcos are leaving the engine facility for Train EC-1 while engine 9999 pulls the crane away from the shop.
Train EC-1 for the Empire Belt's North Side Yard leaves Terminal Yard four Alcos strong.
EC-1 passes Extra 2103 working the Hostess Plant. EC-1 is a 'Liner' to use the vernacular of the PC Junction Yards Branch. A 'Liner' is a yard crew that moves cars between yards but could do no switching.
EC-1 arrives at North Side Yard and to no one's surprise it's engineer is 1/87th scale Alco Joe! He and Big Mike greet the EBRR trainmen and talk over current RR events and labor topics.
1/87th scale Alco Joe and Big Mike have left North Side Yard and are on their way back to Terminal Yard
EC-1 heading back thru Bedford NY on Main 2 meets Extra 2103 as the Extra is building up air pressure to release the brakes. ACFX #56670 from Cargill in Rock Ridge NJ  on the APRR is now ready  for unloading at Hostess.
With EC-1 now clear Extra 2103 gets a green signal and crosses over to Main 2 for Empire City. 1/87th scale Bedford Tower operator John B. is out to give Extra 2103 a roll by inspection.
Extra 2103 arrives at North Side Yard under the watchful eyes of 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal and conductor John.
1/87th scale Sir Neal and conductor John are working the the EBRR Morning Industrial Job today. They have pulled the three cars for the LIRR off the tail end of Extra 2103 and readied Extra 2103s freight cars for departure.
Extra 2103 heads back towards to Terminal Yard with the engine running long hood forward.
We'll cut it off here for today with 1/87th scale Sir Neal and the Morning Industrial Job ready to work the Empire City industries.
We'll close it out tomorrow with train action on the EBRR and LIRR.

P.C.C.M. 60 /NYCTL Part 4

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 60 series!!!

This weekend the participating layouts will be posting their inbound freight car moves. The NYCTL will be receiving cars from PC Ralph's Kings Port Division, Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and John B's Los Feliz & North Western RR.

We'll pick up the action at Empire City with daily PC Train VN-4 making its way from Selkirk Yard towards Terminal Yard with freight cars from the aforementioned layouts.

VN-4 rolls thru Bedford NY towards Terminal Yard

VN-4 arrives at Terminal Yard. The three leading F7As were tacked onto the front of the F7A - GP30 combo that came out of West Mill on the KPD in the opening PCCM 60 series. That sure likes like 1/87th scale PC Ralph at the helm!
With VN-4 now in the yard it's time to turn it over to the Yard Job. Before doing that I prepared these nifty looking PC switch lists that came my way from 1:1 PC Ralph. They look great and really help make the sorting and blocking of the inbound cars go smoothly.
The Yard Job with switch lists in hand gets to work coupling onto VN-4s caboose. TPFX #5510 loaded with apples from Vancouver for Empire Produce has the distinction of being the first PCCM car.
This quartet of reefers from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ on the APRR are loaded with foodstuffs that will go to Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage within the Terminal Yard yard limits.
The Yard Job has VN-4s freight cars pretty much sorted out and is now running the caboose to the caboose track. To the left we see an EMD prime mover being loaded onto a PC depressed center flatcar and a PC gon filled with engine terminal scrap.
The Yard Job heads back to take care of the remaining switch work. To the right is Train EC-1, the Terminal Yard to the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard morning transfer run. Next to that are three cars for the LIRR which will need to go to North Side Yard as well. There are two covered hoppers for Bedford NY industries and the remaining cars on track 6 will be worked within the yard limits.
The tail end of EC-1 features cars for Walsh Steel Wool, Superior Furniture, Gervais Pipe and Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
VN-4s motive power heads into the engine terminal as work continues at the shop. The two gons of scrap and depressed flat with prime mover look to have their next PCCM loads in place.
Meanwhile the Yard Job is pulling cars from the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage buildings.
The three green EBRR 57' Reefers and orange AP 50' RBL from C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge are now spotted at  Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage.
With the reefers now placed the YJ shoves empty EBRR coal hopper #416582 returning from the LF&NW into track #7 building another train of empty coal hoppers for Hudson Coal.
PRR X29 #9553 returning empty to home rails from the LF&NW is shoved into track 5 with other empty boxcars.
Word has come down from the yardmaster that dues to the length of EC-1 the cars for Bedford and the LIRR will dispatched as an Extra. A crew has been called as the YJ gets the Extra ready for departure.
We'll cut it off here for today with engine hostler Wet Willie having coupled NYC GP20 #2103 onto the outbound Extra. We'll pick it up tomorrow with Extra 2103 and EC-1 making their runs.
