Greetings All,
Welcome Back To NY-NJ Ops #2!!
Our second virtual op with my layout interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad continues today with the arrival of NY-NJ traffic from the APRR Rock Ridge Yard.
Once again we'll give the ex New Haven Railroad trains and freight yards the prime time spotlight to move our NY-NJ Ops traffic from Rock Ridge Yard thru the Maybrook Gateway to Terminal Yard.
The Inbound action starts with Train NH-3 consisting of NY-NJ freight traffic from Rock Ridge Yard via Maybrook Yard arriving at RA Tower.
True to form the NH-3 aka "The Drop" has arrived at RA Tower and drops some NY-NJ freight cars on the Water Street Yard lead before proceeding to Terminal Yard.
After yarding the train the NH-3 power is quickly coupled onto to Train HN-2 that will head back to Cedar Hill Yard in New Haven CT with non NY-NJ freight traffic.
Back in Terminal Yard the PC crews get to work on the NH-3 freight consist. NW2 8807 is coupled onto the caboose as the engineer shoots the breeze with Kar Knock who will inspect the train.
The NH-3 caboose is shoved into the caboose track.
An hour or so later Kar Knocker has finished inspecting the NH-3 freight consist and releases it to Big Mike to block and sort the freight traffic into our local trains.
NY-NJ traffic to be interchanged with the LIRR and EBRR like these gondolas going to Mid Island Steel in Medford, NY and the Morton Salt covered hopper going to Ronzoni in Long Island City, NY get shoved into track #2.

NY-NJ freight traffic for local Bedford industries like these TP&W RBLs going to University Millwork gets shoved into track #5.
Big Mike ties down on track #7 and talks the op over with Kar Knocker. The empty LV/NIRX #41000 boxcar in the background came in on a prior NH-3 and is awaiting movement from the B&O to Lightning Press in the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex.
The 5229 has run caboose lite to Water Street to deliver these three Hi-Cube boxcars of appliance from the large PC Richard Distribution Center in Rock Ridge, NJ to the PC Richard Water Street Warehouse. The Hi-Cubes were dropped here yesterday by Train NH-3.Big Mike ties down on track #7 and talks the op over with Kar Knocker. The empty LV/NIRX #41000 boxcar in the background came in on a prior NH-3 and is awaiting movement from the B&O to Lightning Press in the Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage complex.
Over in the engine terminal hostler Wet Willie has PC RS2 5229 ready for the engineer called for the Water Street Job.
The WSJ-2 arrives in Terminal Yard. The 5229 is returned to the engine terminal.
The 8807 engineer prepares to pull the caboose off of the WSJ-2 freight consist and gets an order for a ready caboose from Kar Knocker.
The 8807 shoves the transfer caboose into the caboose track and will pull out several cabooses to deliver that ready caboose to the yard.
I don't usually show this move but thought it would be interesting if not prototypical. We'll cut it here for today with cabooses are on the move!!!
We'll pick it tomorrow at the B&O 16th Street Yard.
This concludes Part 4 of NY-NJ Ops #2 on the NYCTL. Be sure to catch all the action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad!!! Final Note
What is a ready caboose? For lack of a better term a ready caboose is a caboose that has been serviced and is ready for its next run. The servicing would include but not be limited to fresh water, diesel fuel for heating, a clean environment, greased bearings if applicable, clean windows, fusees, red flag and appropriate markers.
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

Rock Ridge Yard out!
A great inbound start to our Ops #2! Dropping cars at Water St. and heading to Terminal Yard was a great move and not double work for the crew. I did enjoy you adding a non-NYNJ Ops move into the mix. It shows us how we can enjoy every move and not just our NYNJ Ops cars that go between our railroads. Very interesting ‘Ready Caboose’ move at the end. A first for me to see.
Looking forward to the next part! Great work Sir John!!
