Greetings All,
Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #105!!!
PCCM #105 will be a three layout one weekend virtual op with PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR interchanging freight traffic with my NYCTL. We will be focusing on our combined PCCM hopper fleets and some of the industries they serve.
The action starts at Bedford Tower as Extra 3175 East is cleared past the tower as PC H16-44 #5169 works the Bedford Park Ford Plant.
Extra 3175 East heads towards Terminal Yard with PCCM freight traffic from the Atlantic Pacific RR's Rock Ridge Yard.
Extra 3175 east arrives at Terminal Yard.
The Extra 3175 East locomotives, GP40 #3175 and GP38-2 #8148, are placed at the sanding rack to begin their servicing.
Over at the A/D track Kar Knocker and Big Mike talk things over. Kar Knocker has released the train after inspecting it and Big Mike is ready to start working the 3175 East freight consist. Four empty PC PS2 covered hoppers and six empty coal hoppers get shoved into track #6 for eventual movement in Train MR-1. Eight covered hoppers loaded with grain from Cargill in Rock Ridge, NJ sit on track #8.
The Extra 3175 caboose is placed on the caboose track.
Over at Pier 16 a pair of B&O H16-44s pull an empty string of covered hoppers from the Grain Silos. B&O!!! I'm experimenting with adding the B&O as an interline interchange to the layout operations and having Pier 16 become a B&O property. More on this in future posts.
The B&O H16-44s bring the covered hoppers to Terminal Yard.
The H16-44s couple up to eight covered hoppers brought in from the APRR in the Extra 3175 East Train. The covered hoppers get shoved to the Pier 16 Grain Silos.
The eight covered hoppers from the Rock Ridge, NJ Cargill facility are delivered to the Pier 16 Grain Silos.Back at Bedford Tower Extra 6533 East with PCCM freight traffic from the Kings Port Division's West Mill Yard makes its way to Terminal Yard as the 5169 continues its work at the Ford Plant.Extra 6533 East heads to Terminal Yard.
Extra 6533 East arrives in Terminal Yard.
The Extra 6533 U-Boats, 6533 and 6554, are placed in the engine terminal for servicing.
Big Mike and Kar Knocker are ready to get the 6533 freight consist inspected.Six covered hoppers loaded with cement from Tri-Mount Cement are shoved into track #6 for movement to North Side Yard and interchange with the Long Island RR.
Six loaded covered hoppers from Empire Grain and six loaded coal hoppers from the Lehigh Valley are shoved into track #4 to await movement to Pier 16.
The Extra 6533 caboose is shoved into the caboose track.
Over at Pier 16 the B&O switch engine is ready to work the Empire Power Authority.
The B&O crews are on the move.
The empty coal hoppers will be picked up by the H16-44s for their movement into Terminal Yard. The empty coal hoppers are coupled onto. The empties get shoved into Terminal Yard.
Loaded anthtracite coal hoppers from the Lehigh Valley RR are pulled out of track #3. They will be coupled onto the covered hoppers behind them on track #2.
The B&O caboose gets coupled on to protect the shove move back to Pier 16.
The H16-44s start the shove move.
PCCM Grain and Anthracite Coal get delivered.
We'll close it here today with the B&O crews having placed the covered hoppers at the grain silos and coal hoppers at the Empire Power Authority Power Plant.
We'll pick it up tomorrow with our old friend Alco Joe called for Train EC-1 that will deliver the Long Island interchange traffic to North Side Yard.Be sure to catch all of the action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division!!
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

Lots of great action from the time the trains arrived at Terminal Yard! The new B&O engine crew was movingthe inbound freight cars efficiently and quickly. Kar Knocker and Big Mike did an excellent job breaking down the train.

The all-hopper theme provided just as much cool rail action at Terminal Yard as it did in Rock Ridge earlier today! I enjoyed the train meets with both PC inbounds to Terminal Yard. Your decision to make Pier 16 a B&O operation really adds a lot of interest, both visually and also from an operations standpoint. I loved watching the switcher and the H16-44s working simultaneously! That was great! Nice work all around!
