P.C.C.M. 58D / EBRR & LIRR TRAINS

Greetings All,

Welcome Back to the P.C.CM. 58 series!!!!

Let's get right to the action at the Empire Belt RRs North Side Yard. 1/87th scale PC Ralph has reported to work for his customary Morning Industrial Job assignment.

1/87th scale Senior Engineer Sir Neal will be providing transportation for PC Ralph and Conductor John to their engines and caboose.

Conductor John goes is dropped off at the Morning Industrial Job lead caboose, #1603.

1/87th scale PC Ralph & Sir Neal head over to the M.I.J. engines to get them started.

With his taxi service completed 1/87th scale Sir Neal heads back to the office to attend to other railroad matters.

Meanwhile PC Ralph has coupled up the engines to the MIJ train and is building air pressure for a brake test.

 First stop is Neal's Lumber & Hardware where we see Sir Neal has wandered over to flag traffic and assist in the coupling of the cars.

EL #73510 from Boom's Ready Mix loaded with bagged cement and PC #77047 loaded with bagged aggregate are spotted at Neal's.

The M.I.J. is now working the Gervais Pipe-Ralph's Grocery siding

The M.I.J. has shoved back from Gervais Pipe & Fitting to pull three cars from the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding.

A NYC Early Bird boxcar & PE #3638 loaded with gadgets from REVCO and P&LE #35892 loaded with bagged flour from Blue Ribbon Flour are now spotted at Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.

Two Evans breadbox trough coil coaches loaded with steel coils from Kings Port Steel are spotted at Gervais Pipe & Fitting.

The east side switching is done and 1/87th scale PC Ralph is bringing the M.I.J over to the west side. 

The engines have left the train on the EC Viaduct and are working the west side industries.

PC #104478 loaded with new steel barrels from Kings Port Steel is being delivered to Drywell Inks

Next stop is Walsh Steel Wool picking up NYC #80775 loaded with muffler mesh for it's next P.C.C.M. destination.

1/87th scale Conductor John protects the shove as PC Ralph shoves the M.I.J. thru the west side curve back to North Side Yard.

The M.I.J. cars are dropped at North Side Yard.

The crew heads for beans or pizza as the case may be.

Perfect timing! Here comes the L.I.R.R. transfer run from Fresh Pond Yard to North Side Yard.

The L.I.R.R. enters North Side Yard. Empty PC gon #288673 is returning to Empire City for it's next P.C.C.M. load. 

The L.I.R.R. crew has dropped their train on track 3, cut off the engines and are running back to the Hohman Ave entrance

The L.I.R.R. crew couples up to their outbound train.

They reclaim their caboose.

And head out of town.

 The L.I.R.R. transfer freight runs thru Bedford back to Fresh Pond

with five cars from Kings Port Steel and two hoppers from Hedberg Aggregate going to NYS DOT District 10.

That's it for today!

P.C.C.M. 58C / Arrival of Train VN-4

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 58 series!!!

We pick up the action at West Mill Yard on the Kings Port Division with the dispatch of Penn Central train WMV-3 to Selkirk Yard.

Upon terminating at Selkirk WMV-3 received new road power and a new train ID. Now identified as Train VN-4 it will take the West Mill cars from Selkirk to Terminal Yard. 

Four GP30s lead VN-4 over the Empire City viaduct as VN-4 makes its way thru Empire City to Terminal yard.

It's 7:00 PM and once again VN-4 arrives on time at Terminal Yard.

The GP30s have cut off from the train and head into the fuel rack.

Yard Job A gets right to work on VN-4s train. The crew will have it easy tonight as the trains from West Mill are always blocked for an easy transition to their connecting trains.

The seven car block for the L.I.R.R. is pulled off placed on track 3. 

This seven car block for Bedford and Bedford Park is pulled off and shoved into track 6.

Yard Job A has retrieved an Empire Belt RR caboose from the caboose track and shoves it into track 4.

The Empire City / Empire Belt RR block is coupled to the E.B.R.R. caboose and shoved back into track 4.

The L.I.R.R. Block is shoved into track 4 and coupled onto the Empire Belt RR cars for pick up by the E.B.R.R. for delivery to North Side Yard where they'll be interchanged with the L.I.R.R.

Yard Job A is doing the nightly caboose shuffle. NYC 21505 is being shoved into a yard track for the Bedford Turn. This gaggle of cabeese will go thru the wye and the most recently arrived cabooses will be on the front end of the caboose track for service.

After going thru the wye this NYC caboose that started on Train WMV-3 in West Mill and rode thru Selkirk to Terminal Yard leads the cabooses into the caboose track.

It's about 05:15 AM and all is quiet at Terminal Yard. Freight cars for train EC-1 are ready on track 4 and cars for Bedford & Bedford Park are ready to go on track 5.

At 05:30 AM 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal leads an Empire Belt transfer freight with cabooses fore and aft from North Side Yard into Terminal Yard.

The E.B.R.R. freight cars are on track 1 and 1/87th scale Sir Neal has run his SDP-40s thru the escape track at the end of track 1 and comes out on track 2.

The E.B.R.R. reclaims caboose #1603 that brought up the rear of the transfer run and gets ready to couple up onto the outbound freight cars of Train EC-1.

EC-1 rattles the windows of Bedford NY as it rumbles back to North Side Yard.

EC-1 arrives at Terminal Yard. E.B.R.R. GP9ms sit in a siding off the industrial track.

The Empire City cars and Long Island RR cars are split up

The Empire City cars are shoved onto the industrial track.

We'll cut it here today with all cars in place and ready to go. 1/87th scale Sir Neal has tied down his engines on track 3. Sir Neal and Conductor John meet 1/87th scale PC Ralph as he reports for duty at the yard office.

P.C.C.M. 58B / Dispatch of Outbound Trains

Greetings All,

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 58 series!

Today we'll follow along with the Empire Belt RR, the Penn Central Terminal Yard yard job and then dispatch our freight trains to the Kings Port Division, the Atlantic Pacific RR and the Ralston Creek RR.

We open up with the Empire Belt's Morning Industrial Job crossing over to the industrial track with a train of freight cars from the earlier EBRR Train EC-1 out of Terminal Yard. The NYC covered hopper, #892010 at the right will be going from Red Wing Milling to Blue Ribbon Flour in Kings Port NY via the K.P.D.

EL Reefer #5034 is loaded with fresh fruit & vegetables for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ via the A.P.R.R. 

The M.I.J. picks up a PRR boxcar from Neal's Lumber & Hardware loaded with shipping pallets going to the Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado via R.C.R. 

Over at Empire City Cargill a PC covered hopper loaded for Tivoli Brewing in Denver and a Cargill covered hopper loaded for Blue Ribbon Flour in Kings Port NY are being pulled from the siding.

The M.I.J. is pulling loaded cars from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse including this E.B.R.R. 50' boxcar loaded with foodstuffs for Red Owl Stores in Denver, CO

The M.I.J. is now working the west side at Superior Furniture picking up this CB&Q 50' boxcar loaded with furniture for American Furniture in Denver, CO.

The CB&Q  boxcar has been shoved to Reliable Machine Company to pick up empty NYC 50' box # 80775.

The M.I.J. is coming around the west side shoving the CB&Q car back to the M.I.J. train. The NYC empty boxcar has been spotted at Walsh Steel Wool Products for it's next P.C.C.M. load. 

The E.B.R.R. Morning Industrial Job has completed it's switching work and prepares to head out to Terminal Yard as Train EB-2.

EB-2 rolls thru Bedford NY 

and heads into the Terminal Yard tunnel.

Next we'll turn our attention to Terminal Yard where we find Yard Job B at Bruce Electric Equipment pulling out this GM&O boxcar loaded with wire harnesses and controls for Peerless Appliance in Mayfield NY.

Meanwhile Yard Job A is hard at work building up tonight's trains. Below Yard Job A is shoving six loaded coal hoppers and two empty clamshell cars for Kings Port Steel into track #5.

A six car block of coal hoppers for R.M.O. Electric in Rock Ridge NJ has been shoved into track #7. The empty auto parts cars from Ford await their turn to get blocked into tonight's A.P.R.R. Rock Ridge Yard train.
The Yard Job is now blocking this group of cars for Elkhart Yard and beyond to Denver, Colorado. The two empty 40' Hi-Cubes are going to Gates Rubber Co. and the empty tank car is going back to Celanese Chemicals via the R.C.R.

The Yard Job finishes blocking Train NV-3 for the K.P.D.s West Mill Yard. 

Next we find the Yard Job at Terminal Warehouse & Cold Storage pulling six loaded 57' Reefers and one loaded 50' RBL for C&P Restaurant Supply in Rock Ridge NJ.

The Rock Ridge Yard bound train has been doubled over onto tracks 5 & 6 while the Denver bound PC covered hopper looks on. 

It's time to call out the road power and get these trains moving!
The first train out is Train SLX-1 which will leave Terminal Yard at 10:00 PM. Tonight's power is a trio of ex NYC F7s with 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal and Conductor John assigned.

Train SLX-1 rolls thru Bedford NY

Next out at 12:50 AM is Train LS-1 to Elkart Yard with cars blocked for western & mid western several RRs including the Elkhart proper cars in block 3. 1/87th scale ALco Joe has been called for this train that will be powered by four Alcos.

Last but not least Train NV-3 to Selkirk prepares to leave at 2:00 AM with an FP7, F7B and GP38 for power and 1/87th scale PC Ralph at the throttle.

We'll end it here as the yard guys take a break before making preparations for the P.C.C.M. 58 inbound trains.
