Silver bells, Silver bells, it's Christmas time in Empire City! Ring a ling, hear them ring soon it will be Christmas Day....
As alway the 1/87th scale trainmen and Empire City business owners do their part to ensure all the children have a great Holiday Season. Neal's Lumber & Hardware displays the Toys for Tots banner letting folks know they can drop toys off here.
Ralph's Grocery Warehouse on the east side of town proudly participates in the Toys for Tots program and has donated several containers of food to a local charity.
1/87th sale John Bruce points to the banner outside of Bruce Electric Equipment letting everyone know B.E.E. is a Toys for Tots collection site.
With Christmas just around the corner the 1/87th scale trainmen of the N.Y.C.T.L. gathered in Empire City for their annual passenger train rail fanning and holiday party.
A Christmas staple at Empire City Station is the very classy ABBA set of Santa Fe warbonnet engines hauling an Amtrak train. This paint scheme has sold more trains than any other in the world and reminds me of the old Sears Christmas Catalog.
The Railway Express Agency is working diligently to get those last minute gifts forwarded to their northeastern destinations.
REA packages from Chicago are offloaded for eagerly waiting Empire City recipients. United Parcel Service? FedEx? Who?😉
The Standard Railroad of the World made its presence known with a long passenger train with plenty of head end cars..
The guys ventured down to the Empire City Station platforms for some passenger train watching.
With PRR sleeper "Paul Revere" in the background the guys catch an all sleeper NYC intercity train rumbling into the station. The E8s burble away as the R.E.A. guys hustle in the baggage car to load and unload the express Christmas packages. This NYC varnish cannot be delayed!
Next into Empire City Station is a BINO Desul with a string of BINO passenger cars.
A pair of Penn Central E8s led a long distance PC train into and out of Empire City Station.
Enjoy a short compilation of the days passenger train traffic.
After working up an appetite with all that train watching the NYCTL traimen head over to Dominick's for their Holiday feast.
From my layout to yours Season's Greetings and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for reading and watching!!
Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to all!!!
Merry Christmas to the entire N.Y.C.T.L. crew and their families! That was a great video to watch and enjoyable music to go with it! I just love the Santa Fe engine set, so classic to have at this time of the year. The PC passenger train looked good and so did your 'BINO' train!
ReplyDeleteThe A.P.R.R. family wants everyone to have a Happy and healthy New Year. Enjoy the holidays one and all!!
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to your Sir Neal and the entire A.P.R.R. crew!!!
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the video and soundtrack!
That was fabulous! Nice to see all of the charitably minded businesses in Empire City doing their part to help others have a Merry Christmas! Thanks for the special trip down to the station platforms to watch all of those passenger trains roll in! The viewing angle from the platforms was perfect for watching very nice sets from the Santa Fee, PRR, NYB, B&O, and PC! Makes me want to take a train trip for the Holidays...maybe to Pennsylvania for some homemade pumpkin pie! A nice treat for us N.Y.C.T.L. fans! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ralph!!!

Hello John! Loving these recent series! Since November I have built, with some help, a 24'X 8' railroad layout for our local railroad museum here in town. I've spent the last 3 three days operating it with help from another friend. It has about killed me due to all of musculoskeletal issues, but it has been well worth it.
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS!
DeleteMerry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours Robert R!!!
DeleteThat layout sounds like quite an endeavor!! Glad to hear you survived the build, no easy feat as we get a little older and stiffer each year. can you tell us what town it is in to give any readers a chance to see it?
Kudos to you and your colleagues for volunteering the time and skills to build and operate the layout!

Thanks for the links Robert!!! That is an impressive layout and quite an accomplishment. Kudos to you for your endeavors to make this layout possible and bring joy to all those who visited.
DeleteNext year I'd like to put something in my Seasons Greetings blog with 1/87th scale Robert R building a holiday display layout at Empire City Station. If you put the layout up again next year please send me a link when you can so I can include it. Things like this make model railroading a very rewarding hobby and you are certainly a fine ambassador!
Great job!!!
Have a Merry Christmas!!
Thanks John! And a Merry Christmas to you and yours! I'll be sure to send you a link next year.
