The Empire State Express behind repainted EMD E8A Demonstrator #952. After it's debut in this paint scheme the engine was sold to the Rock Island. It was later purchased by the N.Y.C.T.L. and returned to it's original Demo paint scheme.
Looking Good as CRIP 643 in 1974
Not so good later on the dead line.
Meanwhile at Terminal Yard
The weekend Terminal Yard crew is getting ready to begin building outbound train LS-1 (New York to Elkhart)
If you were wondering what the 1/87 guys were doing this weekend we can see them at Bedford Station getting aboard the Empire State Express. 1/87th scale Larry D has just skidded to a stop and hopped out of his classic 55 Chevy for this employee only boarding. The train will travel to Empire City Station for general boarding for this rail fan special.
Back at Terminal Yard Engine 8810 from BP-1 is pulling it's caboose and it will later be the power for EC-1
The yard switcher starts setting up LS-1
First they'll grab these two empty hoppers that will be heading back to Hedberg Aggregate in Marion NY
With the empty hoppers on track 9 the crew starts working on LS-1 on track 8.
And blocking the West Mill cars on track 7
The Kings Port block so far
Time to work the freight cars from Empire Belt Train 6109 which arrived late yesterday
NYC 80779 begins the West Mill block. This loaded car is consigned to Empire Grain
PC 104478 loaded with drums of ink for Canton Box in West Mill is the last car for the Kings Port Division for LS-1 which runs daily except Sunday and Monday. More cars are sure to follow as the weekend locals gather cars from the local industries.
The yard crew ties down on track 8
