Greetings All,
Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #108
PCCM 108 continues today with my layout interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.
Today's action starts at the Terminal Yard engine terminal with Alco Joe called for Train MR-1/MR-2, a turn job that handles traffic to and from Hudson Coal and T&R Gravel. Below he is greeting engine hostler Wet Willie as he heads towards the 5229 which will be part of the MR-1/MR-2 power consist.
Train MR-1 is ready to depart. Kar Knocker will roll it by as it departs the yard.
The next car to be pulled from T&R Gravel is EL boxcar #73510 loaded with bagged iron ore for Port Owen Brick in you guessed it, Port Owen, NY.The MR-1 rolls out of Terminal Yard.
First stop for the MR-1 is T&R Gravel to pull four Penn Central PS-2 covered hoppers loaded with locomotive sand for the Atlantic Pacific RRs Richmond Hill Engine Terminal.
The freight cars from T&R Gravel are temporarily shoved into Hudson Coal.
Train MR-1 has coupled back up to its empty hoppers and caboose to start pulling the cars from Hudson Coal.
The last of the loaded coal hoppers for the Atlantic Pacific RR and Kings Port Steel get pulled from Hudson Coal.
Train MR-1 makes the long pull from Hudson Coal.
The empties get shoved into Hudson Coal.
Fifteen empties are spotted for loading.Alco Joe has coupled the RS2s onto the loaded PCCM freight cars and prepares to return to Terminal Yard as Train MR-2.
The MR-2 heads back to Terminal Yard.
Train MR-2 returns to Terminal Yard.
Alco Joe returns the Alco power back to engine terminal and is greeted by engine hostler Wet Willie as the KPRS gang who'll be setting up to photograph the RS2 consist.
Next train out is the Bedford Turn, Trains BT27/BT28 being powered by two end cab switchers.
The Bedford Turn departs Terminal Yard.
The BT-27 starts its work by pulling some non PCCM cars from the Hostess siding that include two TH&B boxcars making their PCCM debut.
Now over at the Schaefer Brewery the BT-27 pulls out two EBRR boxcars loaded with beer for ShopRite in Rock Ridge, NJ.With the switching work done the BT27 power holds at Bedford Tower as it waits to make its runaround move.
A surprise train from Selkirk roars past Bedford Tower.
The Bedford Turn, now Train BT-28 heads back to Terminal Yard.Train BT-28 rolls into Terminal Yard.
We'll cut it here for today with the switch engines joining the crowd in the engine terminal. We'll pick it up and close it out tomorrow with Big Mike and his eclectic power working the yard and building our outbound trains.
That wraps up part two of my PCCM 108 installments. Be sure to catch all the PCCM action on Sir Neal's APRR and PC Ralph's KPD layouts.
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

The Hudson Coal op is always a favorite of mine to follow with the long strings of cars exchanged in the loads out/empties in moves. I really like the photo of the tracks at Hudson Coal full of open hoppers with their nicely weathered interiors. I think we were treated to a neat different view at T&R Gravel with the loader and the piles of ore. The M&E trains were a treat with their E unit power, especially the pre-merger mix of the PRR/NYC units! Speaking of motive power choices, the three RS units on MR-1/MR-2 and the switchers for power on the Bedford Turn were very cool! The KPRS guys have a knack for locating the best places to railfan! The TH&B cars look great by the way!
Thank you very much Ralph!!! I swear the KPRS guys have inside knowledge of the motive power choices on my layout!

Rock Ridge Yard out!
That’s a lot of motive power heading to Terminal Yard. I’m sure Big Mike, Alco Joe and Wet Willie will be ready to handle the incoming engines. Hudson Coal with all of its hopper cars is always a nice scene to watch in action. I see that some beer is coming to ShopRite, better not let the crew know that over at Rock Ridge. Your Hotshot Mail & Express train was a nice surprise with the motive power on it, very classic!
Nice work Sir John!
Thank you very much Sir Neal!!!
