Penn Central Car Movements #108 Part 1 / The Gathering Begins

 Greetings All,

Welcome to Penn Central Car Movements #108
PCCM 108 will be a traditional two weekend three layout virtual op with my layout interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

The PCCM 108 action starts at North Side Yard in Empire City with the Empire Belt RR. Today's Belt Job is powered by a pair of EBRR GP30s and "borrowed" NYC GP30 #2197. 1:87 Senior Engineer Sir Neal confers with PC Ralph who is at the throttle of the 2160 getting ready to depart the yard.
The Belt Job is on the move!!!
The Belt Job starts it's work in the Haydon Heights section of the city as it shoves into the Gervais Pipe & Fitting siding to couple up to a quartet of APRR gondolas loaded with pipe that will be going to Shapeless Steel in Rock Ridge, NJ.
The Belt Job shoves back to the Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding to pull four empty PCCM cars that include two BAR reefers and two PC boxcars.
Now working in midtown 1:87 scale Sir Neal checks out newly added UP boxcar #451360 making a non PCCM delivery to Neal's Lumber & Hardware.
An NYC Early Bird Service boxcar loaded with gears gets pulled from Prestage Gear for movement to Laroche Cycle in West Mill NY. Last but not least in midtown we catch PC depressed center flatcar 766053 loaded with an excavator being pulled from Empire City Caterpillar for delivery to Sal's Salvage in West Mill, NY.
The Belt Job heads towards Hohman Ave.
Now working the Hohman Ave Industrial Park the Belt Job pulls loaded PC boxcar #360158 from Superior Furniture for movement to Battaglia Brother's Warehouse in Kings Port, NY.
The work at Hohman Ave is done and PC Ralph has the Belt Job ready to head back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job departs from Hohman Ave.
The Belt Job Arrives back at North Side Yard
PC Ralph brings the train to halt on track #3.
After sorting thru the waybills the EBRR guys clear out North Side Yard for the pending arrival of LIRR Train MA-3. With NSY near capacity the PC trainmaster at Terminal Yard has given permission for the EBRR to run Extra 2160 to Terminal Yard.
Extra 2160 heads to Terminal Yard.
Meanwhile over in Bedford, Long Island RR C420s power Train MA-3 from Fresh Pond Yard towards North Side Yard.
The dispatcher has not lost his touch!
Senior engineer Sir Neal and conductor John inspect LIRR Train MA-3 as it arrives in North Side Yard with 25 cars of PCCM traffic.
The LIRR engines are coupled up to non PCCM freight cars going to Fresh Pond Yard. LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco takes a minute to chat with the EBRR men.
Over in East Bedford Extra 2160 is entering the tunnel to Terminal Yard.
PC Ralph and conductor Rocky check in with the Terminal Yard yardmaster and crew. With no traffic going back to North Side Yard the EBRR guys will head back caboose lite as Extra 2197.
Back in Empire City the caboose is coupled on and LIRR Train MA-4 gets ready to depart North Side Yard.
Empire Belt Train Extra 2197 meets Long Island Train MA-4.
Extra 2197 has arrived back at North Side Yard and rolls thru the yard on track #3.
The EBRR caboose is tacked on to the PCCM freight cars from MA-3 going to Terminal Yard.
The power is coupled on and PC Ralph is pumping up the airline as he gets ready to depart with Train EB-2. Sir Neal and conductor John will give the train a roll by inspection as it heads out.
Over at Terminal Yard the yard is quite congested as Big Mike prepares to make room for EBRR Train EB-2 due in very shortly. Kar Knock is chiding Big Mike about today's yard power. Big Mike laments that he doesn't know what he did to make the brass treat him so disrespectfully.
EBRR Train EB-2 has just passed Bedford Tower and is heading to Terminal Yard.
The EB-2 is held for two!!!
We'll cut it here for today with PC Ralph delivering the Train EB-2  EBRR and NYC GP30s to the engine terminal where engine hostler Wet Willie will service them for their trip to Selkirk and their 30 day inspection.
We'll pick up the action tomorrow back at the engine terminal.
This wraps up part one of my PCCM 108 installments. Be sure to catch all the PCCM action on Sir Neal's APRR and PC Ralph's KPD layouts.
Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

A great kick off for this PCCM with most of the action being handled by the husky consist of EBRR 2160 and 2161 along with the "borrowed" 2197 logging a lot of track miles back and forth between North Side and Terminal Yard! The PC is going to want that unit back sometime! Your rolling stock roster continues to expand as we welcome the new UP boxcar! Lots of train action connecting to the rest of the national rail network with cool B&O and LIRR appearances! I enjoyed following this installment!

    Rock Ridge Yard out!

A very impressive start to this PCCM. The trio of GP30 engines has great power for all of those freight cars. I did see for the first time an AP Hydro-Cushion box car on the NYCTL. Very honored to catch it. I think this is the first time you’ve mentioned the Haydon Heights section of Empire City by name? Still a lot of work performed at this location as well as the Hohman Ave. Complex.

Always nice to the pair of LIRR C420 engines making their usual runs to & from Fresh Pond. Meanwhile, what did Big Mike do to alienate the NYCTL management? Inquiring minds want to know!

As always your action videos showing many train movements is exciting to watch as you’re moving a lot of freight.

    Great start Sir John!!

    1. Thank you very much Sir Neal!!!
Haydon Heights is named for my late mother in law who was a big fan of the layout and painted all of the backdrops. She was a regular contributor to the layouts motive power, rolling stock and scenic elements.
The APRR Hydro- Cushioned car was part of a two car project that had me repainting two APRR boxcars and pimping them out.
