Penn Central Car Movements #91 Part 4 / The Inbound Trains Arrive

 Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #91!!!

We begin our inbound portion today with the arrival of two trains from Selkirk with freight traffic from 1:1 Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific Railroad and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

In this portion of the series the freight trains from the APRR and KPD have terminated at Selkirk and their consists blocked into two trains for Terminal Yard for more efficient movement to their respective consignees and interchanges.

The action starts with mixed manifest train TY-6 from Selkirk coming thru Empire City and making its way to Terminal Yard.

TY-6 makes its way to Terminal Yard

Train TY-6 is in the yard and Kar Knocker prepares to inspect the train while Big Mike pulls the caboose.

The TY-6 engines (two SD35s and a GP38) head to the fuel rack.

The TY-6 is cleared and Big Mike begins the process of putting together our inbound local trains. The trio of TP&W boxcars sitting in the yard are making their PCCM debut.

The TOFC cars from the B&M going to the REA ramp in Empire City are coupled to the TP&W cars which will be going to a newly opened appliance dealer in the old Water Street Freight House.

Four cars for the Bedford Hostess Plant are shoved into track #3. The covered hopper is from the Rock Ridge Cargill Plant loaded with flour and the three Hi Cubes are fulfilling empty car requests.

Three auto parts cars for the Bedford Park Ford Plant from IDEAL Auto Parts are shoved into track #4

Three auto parts cars for the Bedford Park Ford Plant from ACME Auto Parts also get shoved into track #4.

Three cars going to All City Storage in Bedford Park join the auto parts cars in track #4.

It's time to check in on the Bedford Park Yard crew. Robert R will fire up NYC Alco S-4 #8598 making its return to the PCCMs while his conductor prepares his switch lists.

Robert R and the crew pull two empty boxcars from All City Storage.

Over at the Ford Plant two empty NYC 60'ers are pulled and coupled into the outbound Bedford Park Yard train to Terminal Yard

Train BP-12 leaves Bedford Park and heads for Terminal Yard.

Train BP-12 rolls into Terminal Yard.

The Alco couples up to a block of freight cars for All City Storage and the Ford Plant once again making a quick turnaround.

Train BP-41 from Terminal Yard heads to Bedford Park Yard.

Robert R has cut from the BP-41 and gets ready to make a runaround move.

The 8598 shoves the two NYC double door boxcars with appliances from Peerless Appliance into the All City Storage siding.

Robert R sets up another runaround move.

After running around the train three 60'ers with auto parts from ACME in Mayfield NY get shoved into the Ford plant siding.

With their work done for the time being the Bedford Park Yard crew ties up in the small BP Yard.

Train TY-8 arrives in Terminal Yard.

We'll cut it here today with the TY-8 locomotives (C424 #2415 and C425s #2422 and #2417) cut from their train and heading into the engine terminal for fuel and sand.

We'll pick it up tomorrow at Terminal Yard with Kar Knocker ready to inspect Train TY-8 and Big Mike ready to pull the caboose.

Be sure to follow the action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division.

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

    Rock Ridge Yard Out!

Some great train movements coming to Empire City. The crew wasted no time in not only breaking down the arriving TY-6 train, they started to send cars out to the industries. Nice to see one of the key engines back in service on the railroad. The additional non-PCCM train just adds to our realism in the virtual operating sessions. The TP&W cars look great; kudos to the Patti-O paint shop! Your Mail & Express Train looked great, especially with a pair of E8 engines. They don’t look like surplus, more like earning revenue for the railroad!

Thank you very much 1:1 Sir Neal!!!

The mighty E8s are nearing the end of their service lives and with passenger trains declining rapidly their assignments to M&E Trains is more palatable than sending them to Dewitt to have their prime movers removed and installed into Alco RS3s!

    West Mill out.

It seems that having the KPD and APRR outbound trains terminate at Selkirk worked very well for making up well blocked inbound trains to Terminal Yard! It was cool to see mixed manifests made up of cars from my layout and Neal's. The red TP&W boxcars making their ops debut are sensational! I enjoyed the train meets, especially with the great looking Mail and Express train! You have some nice rolling stock on that train. Looks like a lot of cars coming your way as TY-8 was a lengthy train on its own! Terrific start of the inbound portion of this series!

Thanks Ralph!! Yes, combining trains from the APRR and KPD at Selkirk looked and worked out great for the NYCTL in this series.

Thanks for the compliments on the TP&W cars, Mail Train etc!!

  3. I agree, the Selkirk blocked consists make for an efficient method to route the cars. The TP&W cars really turned out nice! Seems like the TP&W is a neglected fallen flag, they add a nice mix to the consists. Another fun PCCM segment to enjoy!
