P.C.C.M. 65 / NYCTL Part 6 / The EBRR and LIRR Wrap It Up

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 65 Series!!!

Today we'll wrap up the NYCTL inbound portions with the delivery of freight cars from Ralph's Kings Port Division to their proper destinations and interchanges.

We open up today at Empire City's North Side Yard with 1/87th scale senior engineer Sir Neal leaving for the APRR's Rock Ridge Yard to get the line to Weehawken open for PCCM 66. Meanwhile PC Ralph and the boys have divided their six engine consist in half.

1/87th scale PC Ralph and his trusty conductor / brakeman get busy separating the cars for the Empire City industries from the cars to be interchanged later with the LIRR. 

Caboose 1605 has been coupled to the three freight cars and the Afternoon Industrial Job is ready to depart from North Side Yard.

The A.I.J. is crossing over to the industrial running track as 1/87th scale PC Ralph gets a good look at cars and damaged trucks from the Weehawken derailment going to a Long Island scrap dealer.

The A.I.J. crosses the Empire City viaduct to work the west side industries to the left.  

The A.I.J. is working to deliver PC boxcar #104478 to Drywell Inks but has to contend with empty NYC boxcar from Moore & Co and a loaded P&E boxcar in the Drywell Inks siding. 

After some car shuffling PC 104478 loaded with new 55 gallon drums from ACCO in Mayfield NY is spotted at Drywell Inks. 

Empty NYC 80775 has been spotted back at Moore & Co for its next PCCM load. P&E 3638 loaded with drums of ink for Canton Box in West Mill NY is added to the A.I.J. for a PCCM 66 delivery. Empty APRR covered hoppers await dispatch to Rock Ridge Yard.  

1/87th scale PC Ralph brings the Afternoon Industrial Job thru midtown as he heads to the east side of Empire City.  

The A.I.J. is shoving two Evans steel coil coaches into the east side industrial tracks towards Gervais Pipe & Fitting.  

The coil coaches couple up to gondolas MCRR 350623 and KP&W 2140 loaded with pipe for the Hudson Valley Ag CoOp (HVAC). 

The two Evans steel coaches loaded with steel coils from Kings Port Steel are spotted at Gervais Pipe & Fitting. The two gons of pipe will be forwarded to the KP&W's Williams Yard for unloading in PCCM 66. 

1/87th scale PC Ralph has brought the Afternoon Industrial Job back to North Side Yard and goes about setting up the yard for the expected arrival of the Long Island Railroad transfer run. 

The yard is set and the EBRR trainmen await the arrival of the LIRR.

The LIRR transfer run is coming thru Bedford powered by an Alco RS-1 / RS-3 lash up. 

In the freight car consist are seven virtual ops cars that will be worked in PCCM 66. 

The LIRR arrives at North Side Yard. 

The LIRR brings it's train to a halt on track 3. They'll uncouple the engines, go forward and couple up to the outbound cars.

Now coupled up to the outbound cars the LIRR engines shove the train eastward out of the yard. The NYC & PRR hoppers were loaded at Hedberg Aggregates in Marion NY and are going to NYS DOT District #10 for a road building project.

The LIRR reclaims their caboose. 

The Alcos ease around the west side curve as they leave North Side Yard. The NH boxcar was loaded with toys at Mattel in California, came thru Brian's Ralston Creek RR, hit Elkhart and then Selkirk in PCCM 64. The PC was unable to find it's waybill and the car was held at Selkirk. It's finally heading to the Macy's Warehouse in Jamaica NY to get those toys on the shelves before Christmas.

1/87th scale John B gives the LIRR a roll by inspection as he continues to keep the mainlines humming thru Bedford. 

The LIRR passes an outbound unit coal train as they head to their home rails and Bliss Yard. 

And they're outta here! 

Put it in the books!!! 

This wraps up the NYCTL's inbound portions of P.CC.M. 65.

P.C.C.M. 65 / NYCTL Part 5 / Extra 2252 and the Coal Job

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 65 Series!!!

Today we'll continue the inbound portions as the NYCTL starts delivering freight cars from Ralph's Kings Port Division to their proper destinations and interchanges.

We open up today with 1/87th scale Big Mike and Robert R called for Extra 2252, a combined EC-3 / BT-27 that will depart Terminal Yard, work one industry in Bedford, proceed to the Empire Belt RR's North Side Yard to deliver cars for the EBRR and LIRR and then return to Terminal Yard.

1/87th scale Big Mike brings Extra 2252 into Bedford NY.

Extra 2252 will be pulling these five boxcars loaded with beer from Heileman's Brewery. BAR 5226 will be going to the KPD and the EBRR / APRR cars will be going to the APRR in PCCM 66.

1/87th scale conductor Robert R is on the ground and gives Big Mike the signal to pull the cars out of the siding.  

With the five loaded boxcars out of the way NYC Hi Cube boxcar #173661 loaded with new tall neck bottles from Corning Glass in Corning NY is spotted at Heileman's Brewery.

1/87th scale John B gives Extra 2252 clearance to head over the Vanderbilt Bridge to Empire City. 

Extra 2252 arrives at North Side Yard.

The 1/87th scale EBRR North Side Yard trainmen greet the Terminal Yard trainmen as Big Mike and Robert R welcome Sir Neal back to the layout. 1/87th scale Sir Neal reports the APRR and Rock Ridge Yard will be open for business in PCCM 66. 

With NYC GP35 2399 now leading Extra 2399 pulls out the five cars from Heileman's Brewery.

Extra 2399 couples up to its caboose and departs North Side Yard.

Extra 2399 comes around the westside curve as it heads back to Terminal Yard.

With Extra 2399 back at Terminal Yard 1/87th scale Alco Joe and the Yard Job block the PCCM 66 outbound cars together. 

Next we turn our attention to the Coal Job that will exchange empties for loads at nearby Hudson Coal. 1/87th scale Kar Knocker has greeted the crew after giving the train the OK to depart.

The Coal Job, with six empties from Kings Port Steel, has stopped here after the caboose cleared the switch into Hudson Coal. The GP7s will shove back to pull out the loaded coal hoppers once the switch is open.

The Coal Job starts pulling out the loaded hoppers.

Pulling out track 2.

The last of the loaded coal hoppers are pulled.

The Coal Job pulls onto Main 3. When the loaded hoppers clear the switch to Main 2 the engines and empties will cut from the caboose
The GP7s shove the empties back towards Hudson Coal on Main 2.

The empties, including the six from Kings Port Steel, are now spotted at Hudson Coal for loading. 

The Coal Job is now back together and returning to Terminal Yard.

We'll cut it here for today with the Coal Job back at Terminal Yard  bringing the loaded coal hoppers over the weigh in motion scale.

We'll close out the NYCTL's P.C.C.M. 65 inbound portions tomorrow with the Empire Belt RR and Long Island RR taking center stage.

P.C.C.M 65 / NYCTL Part 4 / The Inbound Cycle Begins

Welcome back to the P.C.C.M. 65 Series!!!

Today starts the inbound portions as the NYCTL receives freight cars from Ralph's Kings Port Division and starts getting them to their proper destinations and interchanges.

Extra 2228 has left West Mill on the KPD, come thru Selkirk and is now in Empire City on the final leg of its journey to Terminal Yard.

The Terminal Yard yard job manned by 1/87th scale Alco Joe has coupled onto the tail end of Extra 2228 and begins the process of sorting the inbound freight cars.

A tank car of diesel fuel on its maiden run from the Kings Port Gulf Facility is spotted for unloading at this newly added tank car spot.

1/87th scale Alco Joe starts blocking the rest of Extra 2228's freight cars into three trains to get them to their proper destinations.

The Yard Job brings nine empties thru the yard to join the six from Kings Port Steel in Extra 2228 for the next outbound Coal Job.   

With the coal cars shoved into Track #4 and the yard job out of the way the Terminal Yard Wreck Train arrives at Terminal Yard.

Three wrecked cars from the derailment between Weehawken and the APRR Rock Ridge Yard have been sold for scrap to Gershow Recycling in Medford NY. They are being shoved into Train EC-3 for delivery to the LIRR via the Empire Belt's North Side Yard.

Meanwhile over at Bedford Park Yard the crew has fired up their Alco S4 and are getting ready to start their day. The first stop will be to pick up that empty red GN boxcar at American Hardware for return to the GN via Brian's Ralston Creek RR in a future PCCM.

The GN and a PC boxcar are shoved into the tiny yard. The PC car will have to go back to American Hardware later for unloading.

Next move is to pull these two empty Evans Breadbox Trough Coil Coaches from the Ford Plant. 

The BPY Switcher has run around the empty steel cars 

to pull three empty 60' boxcars from the Ford Plant siding.

The BPY Switcher has left the Bedford Park yard limits as Train BP-12 and is heading for Terminal Yard with six cars and caboose.

BP-12 then stalls on the grade to Terminal Yard. Probably a case of one car to many. 1/87th scale Alco Joe and the yard job have come out for the rescue.

 BP-12 arrives at Terminal Yard with a little help from his friends.

The BPY crew have coupled up to their outbound BP-41 train and get some advice from the Terminal Yard trainmen. "Feed her the fuel!" encourages 1/87th scale Big Mike.

Feed her the fuel they do and they come thru the smoky Terminal Yard tunnel choking and gagging.

 BP-41 has returned back to Bedford Park without further incident.

This Celanese Chemicals tank car from Celanese Chemicals in Denver CO came thru Brian's Ralston Creek RR in PCCM 64 but was held at Selkirk due to a lost waybill. It is now spotted at the Ford tank car track.

Two loaded coil coaches with fresh steel coils from Kings Port Steel are spotted at the Ford Steel Track.

The BPY crew makes a runaround move to get behind the boxcars and caboose.

This trio of boxcars loaded with auto parts from ACME Auto Parts in Mayfield NY are spotted on the Ford boxcar siding.

The crew spots the PC boxcar back at American Hardware.

We'll end it here today with everything in order in Bedford Park as the crew ties down in the yard until their next call out.

We'll pick it up tomorrow with the running of Extra 2252 and the Coal Job as we continue delivering freight cars from Ralph's K.P.D. to their respective destinations.
