Penn Central Car Movements #110 Part 4 / Inbound Trains Arrive

 Greetings All,

Welcome Back to Penn Central Car Movements #110
Our three layout virtual op with my layout interchanging freight traffic with Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division continues today with the arrival of Train TY-2 at the Penn Central Terminal Yard.

The action starts with four four axle U-Boats powering Train TY-2 from Selkirk onto the Empire City Highline as it heads for Bedford and Terminal Yard with PCCM freight traffic from the KPD and APRR.
The TY-2 rolls thru Bedford.
Train TY-2 arrives in Terminal Yard.
The four U-Boats have been cut from the TY-2 and have arrived in the engine terminal for servicing.
In a familiar scene Kar Knocker and Big Mike talk things over as they ready the TY-2 freight consist for inspection.
With the TY-2 freight cars accepted and cleared for their next movements Big Mike sets out fourteen freight cars on track #2 that will be heading out to Bedford in Train BT-27. Eleven of the PCCM cars are from the TY-2 consist with the rear ten going to the newly relocated and expanded Ralph's Grocery Warehouse.
Now finished for the day Big Mike ties down the U23Cs on the engine terminal lead for the engine hostler to move and service.
Next we head over to the B&O 16th Street Yard where the nocturnal B&O 16th Street Local is preparing to depart.
The B&O train is on the move with eight empty PCCM covered hoppers.
The eight PCCM covered hoppers are placed at the Pier 16 Grain Silos for their next PCCM loads.
That done the B&O crew pulls an empty non PCCM Empire Belt gondola from Bruce Electric Equipment which will be set out next to the TW&CS siding for later pick up.
Back at 16th Street Yard the GP35s have coupled up to four empty TP&W RBLs, two empty NYC 50' boxcars and one non PCCM NYC 40' boxcar.
The B&O Transfer departs 16th Street Yard.
The B&O Train has arrived in Terminal Yard and pulls two Empire Belt 40' boxcars loaded with canned goods from ShopRite that are going to Consolidated Grocery Distributors with the four empty TP&W RBLs.
With the PCCM cars setout on track 8A the GP35s pull out a block of empty non PCCM Hi Cubes from the Terminal Warehouse Cold Storage siding using the empty non PCCM EBRR gondola as a handle.
The EBRR boxcars from ShopRite and the empty TP&W RBLs are placed at Consolidated Grocery Distributors to load and unload.
Time to head back to 16th Street Yard!!
The B&O heads back to 16th Street Yard.
After delivering their train to the 16th Street yard the B&O Crew picks up two NYC boxcars for their final moves of the day.
Empty NYC boxcar 47063 plus one are spotted at Bruce Electric Equipment for their next PCCM loads.
The crew returns to 16th Street Yard and ties down.
Next stop is the engine terminal where the shop switcher is pulling a lube oil tank car from the shop.
The tank car is shoved into track #5 for movement to Selkirk. The PC depressed center flatcar on track #7 is awaiting pick up.
The shop switcher has grabbed the PC 766053 and heads to the engine terminal.
We'll cut it here today with the PC depressed center flatcar shoved into the engine shop for its next PCCM load.
We'll pick it up tomorrow back in Terminal Yard.
This wraps up the part 4 of PCCM 110 on the NYCTL. Be sure to catch all the action on Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR and PC Ralph's Kings Port Division

Thanks for reading and watching!!!
See you tomorrow!!!

    West Mill out.

It doesn't get much more exciting for railfans of 1960s-70s NYC/PC era big motive power than to see four U Boats in pre- and post merger schemes heading a long transfer to Terminal Yard! Great opening! Once again the B&O 16th St Yard operation adds a lot of interest to the way things work at Terminal Yard...and a little color with their B&O blue!
That was a nice string of cylindrical covered hoppers in the transfer. All of the industries in the large warehouse buildings at Terminal Yard provide a lot of switching opportunities! The Engine Terminal proves to provide its own interesting set of switching moves that show case the very cool three dome PC tanker! Great stuff as always!

    Rock Ridge Yard out!!

A great start to the inbound series with a heavy parade of U boats! The B&O moves that you’ve added give the impression of a busy yard making interchanges with the various railroads. The Empty Hi-Cubes heading back to the B&O Yard was nice to watch. Those TP&W cars do look good as well. Adding the move in the engine terminal was a nice surprise.

    Excellent start Sir John!
