Penn Central Car Movements #103 Part 2 / A day with the Empire Belt RR

Greetings All,

Welcome back to Penn Central Car Movements #103!!!
Our first PCCM of 2024 continues today with more PCCM freight cars being gathered for movement to Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

We open today with Long Island RR Train MA-3 arriving at North Side Yard under the watchful eyes of the Empire Belt RR trainmen.
Watch the MA-3 arrive loud and proud.
Our old friend LIRR engineer Jimmy Alco is back for 2024 and  checks in with the EBRR guys, Senior Engineer Sir Neal, PC Ralph, brakeman Rocky and conductor John who have returned for 2024.
LIRR Train MA-4 departs North Side Yard.
With the freight consist from Train MA-3 sorted out in the yard Senior Engineer Sir Neal and conductor John watch PC Ralph pull the Belt Job onto the Belt Line.
The Belt Job starts its work at Empire City Cargill pulling out a block of covered hoppers.
The covered hoppers from Cargill include TLDX #7241 loaded with barley for Cavendish Food & Spirits in Mayfield NY are coupled up to the Belt Job caboose.
KPW gondola #2102 makes a cameo appearance as the Belt Job shoves back to work Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding.
An empty Swift Reefer along with empty HRC and Tropicana RBLs are pulled from Ralph's Grocery Warehouse siding for movement to their next PCCM loads
PC Ralph and the Belt Job are now working Neal's Lumber & Hardware pulling an empty NYC Early Bird boxcar for its next PCCM load and an empty NYC flatcar.
The work in midtown continues as the Belt Job pulls two EL reefers from Empire Produce loaded with perishables for KPD and APRR consignees. The blue EL boxcar is empty and will head back to the EL or held for a local non PCCM load.
Two non PCCM BAR State of Maine boxcars loaded with blue berries make their PCCM debut and get spotted at Empire Produce.
The Belt Job is back together and ready to head towards Hohman Ave to work the Hohman Ave industrial complex as we see 1:87 Emery is back for another series documenting the action for a future Green Reptile video.
The Belt Job heads towards Hohman Ave Tower and the newly named Hohman Ave industrial complex.
The work begins at Moore & Company with the Belt Job coupling up to a NYC Pacemaker boxcar loaded with burlap bags for Agway in Bloomberg, NY along with AP boxcars #4035 and #4182 loaded with imported electronics for IDEAL Auto Parts in Rock Ridge, NJ.

Now getting pulled from City Pallet are PC boxcar #77047 and NH boxcar #36116 that are loaded with pallets. The PC car is heading to Woodstock Hills Soda in Bloomberg, NY. The NH boxcar is consigned to Port Owen Brick in Port Owen, NY.
The work continues with P&E boxcar #3638 getting pulled from Drywell Inks loaded with 55 gallon drums of ink for the Catskill Mountain Press in Bloomberg, NY.
PC Ralph has the Belt Job back together and prepares to head to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job heads back to North Side Yard.
The Belt Job is back. PC Ralph confers with Sir Neal and conductor John who will sort the waybills in the yard office.

A couple of hours later the guys have Train EB-2, a daily transfer to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard ready to go with three SDP40s for power to move the thirty PCCM freight cars.
Empire Belt Train EB-2 departs North Side Yard to deliver the PCCM freight cars to the Penn Central's Terminal Yard.
The EB-2 meets PC Train EC-1 heading to North Side Yard at Bedford.
Train EB-2 rolls into Terminal Yard.
The PC Terminal Yard crew talk things over with the EBRR train men as they prepare to depart back to North Side Yard caboose lite.
We'll close it out today as caboose hops meet in Bedford!
We'll pick up the action tomorrow in Terminal Yard, make our final moves and dispatch the outbound trains.
Be sure to catch all the action on PC Ralph's Kings Port Division and Sir Neal's Atlantic Pacific RR.

See you tomorrow!!!

The Doobie Brothers are playing "Long Train Running" again as lengthy manifests roll on the N.Y.C.T.L. Over the years the increased size of trains between Terminal Yard and North Side must be making the City Council consider ordinances regarding delays at road crossings! It is a pleasure to watch so much freight roll by conveying big time railroading! I certainly heard the horn as MA-3 arrived and it seems the LIRR engineer had some fun blowing it again when leaving North Side on MA-4! I noted the new RI bulkhead flat and am especially honored by the debut of KP&W gon #2102! More railfan worthy lashups with the three SDP40s including the NH unit, and the F&A-B-A consist on EC-1! Fabulous stuff all around! As always I enjoyed watching cars that I recognize being gathered for their later appearance on the Kings Port Division!

Thank you very much Ralph!!! You're right about the PCCM transfer run train lengths!! Hopefully the city and the council realize the longer the trains the more income the local industries make which trickles down to non rail served businesses and lower taxes!!! At least I hope it does!!
